Well built, Average performer, Excellent comfort.
I purchased a used 5 yr old 2014 car with 117km on the clock. Nice tidy condition, few minor interior scuffs and roof lining just coming away at drivers side.
Hardly a squeak or rattle to be heard and engine noise is very well kept quiet.
Seats and driving position are superb. The first car I've ever sat right back into it against the headrest.
Handling and drivability is excellent, keeping pot holes and bumps under control.
Controls are easy to use, Bluetooth works quickly, usb for phone, leather seats are AWESOME, rear camera in mirror takes ...Read more

good car.... however
listen to the motor before you buy!!! love this car, however,,,,, the interior has rattles and creaks. it drives GREAT, love it.
heres the pinch...... the theta petrol engines are rubbish. around 200k they are ruined. Had to replace mine, it had 209 thousand km, the theta engines are known to die early. In the us, hundreds of thousands have been recalled.
they are just another car with a 15000 km service interval, this, ruins engines. They last until warranty runs out, and then boom. If you buy one, listen to the motor, they have noisy injectors, which isnt a problem, but the knock coming from piston slap, gets loud.
if you own one, or buy one, service it with the correct oil, every 10 thousand or less, it may last longer.

Not happy - drives like a noddy car. Wobbly suspension and wouldn't recommend because the quality is really poor. Mechanics treat you like a moron but sometimes there r nice ppl to help. Not recommended.

High spec and great value for money
The medium sized SUV market has lots of options. When I purchased this car, I also considered the Peugeot 3008 (small steering wheel was I just found too weird), Hyundai Tucson (price would mean a need for me to down spec), Nissan X-trail (didn’t like the CVT gearbox), Mitsubishi Outlander (had a CVT and was a good drive, but looks were getting dated), Honda CRV (didn’t really enjoy the CVT gearbox and drive even though they little 1.5l turbo had lots of power)
The Kia Sportage is excellent value for money, and with 20,000 kms on then clock n...Read more
o issues have been encountered yet. It has a very high spec with panoramic sun roof, heated and cooled front seats, Sat Nav, Android auto and Apple car play, wireless phone charging, blind spot detection, front collision avoidance, rear parking camera, electric tail lift, proximity sensed opening tail lift, puddle lights, proximity based auto retracting electric mirrors, full leather seats, cross traffic rear detection, parking sensors, hill descent, auto wipers, auto headlights, LED driving lights, auto dip high beam, 4wd diff lock, electric park brake, hill start assist, driver/passenger climate controls, steering wheel controls which are easy to use, tire pressure sensors, cruise control, lots of USB ports for charging, and much more. As you can see, it is well spec’d with plenty of good stuff. Best bits The factors that particularly attracted me to this car and model: 1. A true automatic as opposed to a CVT gear box. The six speed is smooth and can be operated like a tiptronic, basic auto, or using the paddle shifters behind the steering wheel (although as an SUV, were these really necessary?) 2. Transferable service plan and warranty. It has a great warranty and service plan, and a real bonus is that it is transferable if the vehicle is sold. Mitsubishi has perhaps the best warranty plan, but Kia is the only I’m aware of that enables transfers after private second hand car sales.Purchased in November 2021.

Excellent Engineering and Design
Purchased new SLi 2 litre petrol model in Jan. ‘19 . Have traveled 13000 km in 6 months (50% expressway use and 50% on suburban and city roads)
Car seems to have been thoughtfully designed and built to last. My impression is that the designers have attended to every detail and used the best quality fittings in putting the car together. Everything works exactly as you would expect. Auto wipers cope with all situations perfectly. The auto high beam works to the millisecond - should be standard on all cars. One thing I can’t tolerate is the au...Read more

Under the shadow of hyundai, Kia makes the mark to prove its worthiness.
I have bought this Kia sportage GT line as a second car and I am impressed with the workmanship. The features are really advanced and useful. It's another smart car under Kia branding where u donot pay extra for the loyalty. As a user of hyundai and Kia I will definitely recommend Kia over my hyundai by its extra features and interior looks. B4 buying any car just test drive one of the model. Use brain not heart when buying a car ..... hope u will enjoy the drive if u choose wisely.

Not as good as other SUV'S
I drive my car regularly to commute. From the start the inbuilt Sat Nav hasn't been reliable no matter what the weather is. I took it back at least three times under warranty but gave up in the end. It is not a quiet or smooth drive. Also, not as economical as others (diesel).
October 24th 2022 Update: Disappointed
Built in sat nav unreliable. Even when replaced under warranty. Bits fall off such as vent open and close handle. Not a smooth ride all the time. Visibility is so bad makes me scared. Windows too small, can't see around the strut on drivers side when using roundabout. Not much room inside, especially for tall people.

For only $31,990, you don,t need to pay more to go in style.
I use the car every day, for shopping which is very short drive, it is a bit thirsty, 12 litres/100km, but when I drive to Melbourne, I sit on 100kph an it used 7.2 litres/100km. going to an from work an every day driving I get a ave 9.2 litres/100km. It is a 2 litre 4 cylinder an 114 kw/154bhp, an it has plenty of getup an go, (torque) with 18 inch wheels, it has a very good ride, There is me and my wife up front an my 3 adults kids in the back, My two boys are over 6 feet tall, plenty of head room an plenty of leg room, no problems. What a great car. Kia has come of age as a quality car manufacturer
I've done 30,000kms now, in all sorts of situations including 2 trips from Qld to SA.
Looks - always subjective, but in my opinion the best looks and styling of any medium size SUV.
Power - startlingly quick, gives v8s a hurry up around town, gets past B doubles and caravans easily on the highway.
Handling – like it’s on rails, little or no body roll.
Steering – quick, sharp and accurate. Good feel through the wheel. The wheel is also adjustable for reach as well as height so it’s easy to get comfy.

A reliable & strong SUV
Over 50k done on this SUV and still running strong.
Diesel Fuel economy around 8l/100km mainly city driving.
Has a good acceleration curve, plenty of punch for highway overtaking.
Not one sign of a leak or problem with the car.
Cons:
Missed out on the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay on this years model.
No car lane monitoring in side windows for preimium model.
Paint seems to scratch easily.
Can't set North to top on Map.
Pretty limited audio and map settings for being a premium model.

Everything has been thought of.
I love my new Kia Sportage its been amazing to drive with all the standard tech and safety for a suv under 31K. The car is 3 months old I have done 6500km so far it’s been great I love the big touchscreen, the automatic brake system and the lane keep I do turn the lane keep off around town but on the highway it’s great. Going to be doing a brisbane to Sydney road trip at the end of February this year with myself, wife and son (2.5 years old ) so that will be a good test.

Great car, excellent fuel economy, love it.
Thought I'd write a review after 2 years of ownership, as it provides a good overview rather than just after a couple of months. I purchased the Sportage Platinum diesel. It is great, one of the best cars I've owned (I'm 62 and have owned heaps of cars). It is easy to get in and out of, fits my golf clubs easily. Features are endless, love the cooled seats in summer. Haven't used the heated seats as we live in Queensland. I haven't had any issues with it, just a slow leak on a tyre which the auto sensor picked up, took it to dealer as I couldn'...Read more
t clear it and was fixed in 5 minutes. The service dept. try and recommend 6 mths services, but I just ignore that and get it service annually. When I want a bit of grunt off the lights, just put it into Sport mode and very few will beat it. Its economical on fuel (even if diesel is dearer) I get very good economy around town and about 6.5 on the highway. I had 5 adults and a boot load of gear in it yesterday and it gets along really well. I recommended it to 3 others at my golf club and they bought one and none have any regrets.Similar opinion? An excellent vehicle but maybe with Nexon tyres that are not suitable for wet weather
I purchased the Sportage Premium Si to replace a Mitusbishi Outlander. On my first drive, I decided to buy it. It has low level road noise, good fuel economy and very comfortable seating. The steering is light and positive, with no effort it follows the curves as it is on railway tracks.I have not regretted my decision.
The driver's seat seems to wrap around me, giving good back support.
Plenty of sound proofing, even to the point of rubber seal between the bonnet and the front panel. I do not recall seeing that on a car before.

Great car
I use the car for general commuting to and from work and also for longer family trips on the weekend. It fits the 2 car seats and an adult across the back seat and plenty of room for luggage and a pram in the back.
I have had it almost 1 year without a problem!
A fantastic car and would highly recommend.

Ok...
I loved my Sportage originally. Then a very loud sound started coming from the exhaust. Several mechanics have told me it’s safe but my car sounds like a loud Datsun! I’ve also had trouble with the brakes, the shift lock getting stuck, and now I’m pretty sure the CV joint is making a noise. Also the electrics are funny, the doors lock and unlock repeatedly sometimes

Has anyone had problems with their 2016 - 17 Kia Sportage si diesel after dealer service update to software? My vehicle was going great, I went into Kia dealership to get Apple car play Android car play flashed to head unit. They also decided to check for any other updates, they installed euro 5 update. After this done a trip about 150km noticed fuel economy down from 6.7 to no better than 7.5l per 100km all county running. Also has developed a noise on R/H side of motor around belts area, to me sounds like a loose timing chain. Took it back to the dealer told them about it, asked if they could put it back to original setting but said Kia update couldn't be reversed. Not only that besides ignoring what I said about engine noise, they ran another flash now the trans flares between gear changes, ask them about this said the trans has problem & the original software settings were masking the problem, the trans was great before beautiful gear changes could hardly notice. I thought Kia was a good car but now wished I brought a Rav4. Any feedback will be appreciated. Regards

I have a deal to buy kia 2012 platinum diesel 4wd for $15000 with 100000km on odometer. I am in a doubt whether I should buy this car or not as its Going to be 8 years old. Dealer is giving me extra 100000km warranty for extra $1200. Can anyone guide me is this a good deal to go for? Or i should buy a newer sportage?

Check out car sales.com for comparative prices. It's done less than 13k per year so it's probably been well looked after and obviously not done much time on the road in 8 years. Price seems fine but low km is not always good for diesel particulate filters. If you buy it, fill it up with premium diesel and take it for a good highway run to clean it out. It's a kia, so mostly reliable.
Does it have a tow bar? Has it towed caravans? That can cause extra wear and tear on the rear suspension.
