Worst experience ever
This policy was not the cheapest but I was referred to them by a friend . I am just relieved that I am not in a situation where I needed medical help . They will not be using them again either . Poor Communication. 8+ e-mails
After an initial phone call we were directed to email. After 8+ emails we received no reply, only a computer generated acknowledgement.
We have previously used 1 Cover for international travel and have been pleased with the service, though we have never made a claim. This time however we find communication very poor.
We were due to leave for Europe on May 11. We bought our tickets and insurance back in October 2022 (no sight of pandemic then and nothing on the "What you are not covered for" advertising info page).

After several emails sent, receive replies 2months later. My May 23rd tour was cancelled through no fault of my own. Lost both reservations and flight approx. 1,600 - told no cover due to pandemic. Never insure again with them.

After complaining to Dept of Fair Trading, 1Cover has now offered a rebate of my premium of around 90% which i am going to take to get it over with, i urge anyone to not claim on your policy as it would activate it and this would give you no chance of a refund of your premium but to complain to fair trading to try and salvage something and just never use them again.

I and my family always used ICover insurance for my trips primarily based on cost and reviews.

It's the suppliers responsibility to compensate, reimburse, or find an alternative for travellers when transport is cancelled due to operational reasons and mechanical failure. Extremely Poor Service
I actually got on this site to see if anyone else was posting about their experience with 1Cover in light of the COVID pandemic. This crisis has certainly highlighted the uselessness of travel insurance, it's only when you go to claim that you realise the value of the policy-worthless!

Agree with everything Gerry "Hello anybody there" has written. No answering of the phone, no reply to emails and only automated replies to their preferred message query system. I have only cancelled my flights until this Covid-19 is over so only wanted to defer the insurance. Not happy with the lack of service and any other general website information.

No Compassion for Elderly
I bought Travel Insurance for my In laws who were traveling to Greece with us in July & because of their Medical History they paid a high premium in excess of $3500. I requested a refund due to the COVID-19 & the fact they are pensioners 76 years old & every dollar was very important to them after having to contact them via email twice they finally answered me & offered only a credit only. This is unacceptable & I will never use this company again. No compassion or empathy.

Hello anybody there
I’m like many who’s travel plans cancelled due to the Coronavirus. Bought policy February. Several email and attempted phone calls have been unanswered along with a notification on their website regarding policy wanting to cancel done in March. Only response has been auto replies to emails. Was to fly out 28 April 20.
I would think twice about using again. I’m not after refund just some acknowledgement that I can defer the said policy for travel later. Far from happy with lack of service.

Still waiting
I contacted 1 Cover on 19 March.
I was within the 14 day cancellation period and needed to cancel my travel insurance.
I received an email immediately stating they would be in touch soon to assist. That was 19 days ago and I am still waiting for some sort of contact. Ref: 539477.
I have used 1 Cover before when travelling and have been very happy with them.

We always use 1Cover for travel insurance, but this was the first time we claimed. The process went smoothly and we received a refund for our cancelled trip. I am telling everyone that 1Cover is an insurance company that can be trusted. We received very good service. Won’t answer emails
I’ve used 1cover at least 14 times over the last 10 years I know everyone is very busy due the covid19 virus the airline canceled our flights and gave us a credit note,Airbnb contacted us and refunded our money for accommodation in full no worries couldn’t have been more helpful,1cover couldn’t even be bothered to respond to my countless emails I sent to them we would have gladly expected a credit for our travel insurance but no answer to emails or phone calls . Customers will remember how 1cover treated it’s clients when this crisis is over I will never use 1cover again, advise anyone to be very weary of this company

What a disappointment!!
We've been using 1cover for the past 5 years. I found prices to be competitive and easy to navigate on line policy manager. Taking out new travel policy has always been easy ...Until we had to claim and cancel current policy. tually happened were not taken into the account. The easiest thing was just to refer to policy wording and say: sorry you are not covered, not a slightest attempt to “look after the loyal customer”. We also have current policy for travel to Japan. It was totally useless in every sense when it came to covering cancellations with flights and accommodation this is the reason why you take insurance cover isn’t it! And this was paid for in Sep 19 yet total exclusion with COVID 19 pandemic that somehow we should have anticipated. So I tried to cancel this cover but phones are disconnected. And no way of cancelling on line. I emailed first two weeks ago, before our travels so that I can get a refund. I emailed reminder again week ago but never got any reply cover is still active. We should have left 3 days ago so I’m not even sure if I'll now get my refund. However, I can see here that they have staff available to reply and praise 5 star comments. Good to see that you have your priorities right 1cover! They had chance to do something for us and offer some sort of compensation, now they lost loyal customer and got 1star rating. They way 1cover handled this pandemic is very poor and I would not be surprised this company goes under. Many other insurance companies rouse to the challenge, 1cover flopped! Warning....1Cover are not to be trusted!
Policy was easy to set up and customer service team were lovely to deal with. HOWEVER, the COVID-19 pandemic hit and our trip was cancelled. 1Cover agreed to refund our policy (taken out well before the pandemic) as a good will gesture. We were pleased with this and received an email notification advising funds would arrive in my bank within 5-6 days. Funds did not arrive as promised. So I sent an email asking what was happening. I tried contacting 1Cover through Facebook - no response. In the end I got sick of being lied to and ignored so I lodged a complaint with the AFCA. Insurance is a rort.
Should be a Royal commission into what travel insurance covers.
Many other insurance will cover everything but a lot of Australian travel insurers get away with everything.

I thought my travel was going ahead and it won't be affected, so, I bought the premium insurance (around $700), however, 10 days later I found my flights were cancelled, so I decided to cancel my travel insurance as Why should I pay if I can't even use it?! Why aren't 1cover refunding money for a risk that will never happen? After months no phone contact and useless bulk generated email. Other companies ARE returning the full premium and answering phones. Australian Seniors is one. Never when I read the clause about pandemics did I think that this would include stealing the full premium when I would never get off the ground. Good business model for the future guys. Theft and no service. Vote with your feet and tell all your friends how great this company is. Why cant we ring? Don't give us the rescuing people story any longer!

Asked the same question myself three weeks ago - no risk to the company because we can't even leave the house for a trip to a country whose borders are closed anyway. But have heard nothing other than I'm in a queue and they will contact me in turn. Very poor customer service.
