Batteries ran down after one use
My review rates to the batteries/power consumption. I bought the meter and spent about 15 minutes setting it up and doing two tests. After I finished the second test, a message flashed up on the screen about "auto-off". "Oh, that's handy", I thought. "It'll preserve the battery life."
This morning I went to use it and the batteries are flat! So either the auto-off didn't actually switch it off, and it was on all night, or the batteries were almost flat when I opened the box.
I see other reviews saying the similar things. I will be following u...Read more
p with Roche to get replacement batteries sent and to make them put a warning to switch it off by pressing the "off" button, and not rely on the "auto-off", which judging by other people's reviews doesn't work properly. I will probably pop the batteries out between uses, because I record the readings separately and don't need to save them on the monitor. If you have similar problems, complain to Roche and if you don't get any satisfaction, take a look at Australian consumer law, and get onto your state or territory consumer rights body. P.S. The lancet, meter and test strips seemed to work well.3 comments
I've just discovered that this problem has been reported to the Therapeutic Goods Administration (which is a pretty hopeless regulator, so they must have had a lot of complaints).

had problems with it, I suggest you return it to the retailer or Roche Diabetes Care Australia for a replacement with a non-fault serial number or a refund (your choice). Remember that you don't have to pay postage to return faulty items. Also, make sure to get recompense for any consumables you can't use (e.g. test strips that only work with that device if you are getting a refund).Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

OK product, it does what it says in the tin.
I have had this meter for a couple years now.
Battery life... yeah, it uses more batteries than others and uses 2 CR2032's but it can go a couple months with regular use. Just hold the button to turn it off after each use.
Bluetooth connectivity... It worked well with the previous Accu Check app and then it lost support in newer versions of Android until they launched MySugr. Now it works, only caveat is to have the app open at the same time as the meter sends the result to the phone/device.
Test Strips... not a problem, but my hands are still ...Read more

It was free...I would not buy one!
Needs 2 button batteries...My Freestyle Lite only needs one....the batteries did not last long, until I figured out to hold down the OK button to turn it off instead of letting the the metre self turn off...getting much better battery life as a result........I do not feel the readings are accurate in comparison to my regular blood tests....The test strips are in a flat square container that is difficult to access...especially with arthritis and the strips are very small and jammed together...My Freestyle Lite strips are in a round container ea...Read more
sy to open...the strips are larger, stronger and individual, so easy to access and to handle.....they also require much less blood than the Guide...which often says 'not enough blood'.....I did not like the barrel lancet....it hurt...a lot...I purchased another Accu-Chek Softclix lancing pen, as this is my preferred lancing device...almost pain free....I have another in the Freestyle Lite case as I did not like their lancing device either....All in all...if I had paid $$$ for this I would be a lot more disappointed than I already am...Okay as a spare.Purchased in June 2021.

AWFUL
I've used Accu'Chek meter since I was first diagnosed so I received this one as a replacement. Awful product.
1. Batteries need replacing tight from the box. After setting up the glucometer I need new ones.
2. Strips are so small and tight in the container that pulling one strip is impossible.
3. Doesn't work with the bluetooth.
4. Lancets are too flimsy and small.
5. The case is useless. Slippery and flimsy.
Worse glucometer i have ever used.

Accu-check Guide battery usage
The V12 Chevy of glucometers. Twin 2032 batteries last less than a month with twice daily testing.
This is Unacceptable!
I've now bought a a Contour Next meter, which strips are not widely available as the Guide or other Roche meters, but hopefully it will be worth going out of my way to purchase the strips.

High energy consumption of ACCU-CHEK Guide
I got an ACCU-CHEK Guide glucose metre from a Chemist Warehouse store. I have changed the batteries five times after using the meter for about 60 times (strips).
I rang the customer service number a few times. But until now I have not gotten chance to speak to them.

Very imperfect and very disappointing
Instead of a USB charging system it uses 2 circular batteries that need replacing on average st least twice a month.
The lancet tool is cumbersome to setup and not economical in usage irrespective of cost also.

This meter could cost you your life!
This meter had not worked well at any point. Today it stopped working. Absolute junk! Strips wouldn't register. Not enough blood on the strips. Replace strip warnings all the time. This meter could cost you your life!

Broken within 2 days
I bought two of these machines. Both broke within one day of using them. Batteries were changed but they just stopped working and seemed to be in a neverending loop always asking for the time and date or saying that the batteries needed replacing - even after I replaced them. The second one I bought worked for one day. They both failed when a strip was inserted. Very unhappy
Purchased in June 2021 at Chemist Warehouse Physical Store for A$40.00.

Purchased 2 of these and both failed 1 the 1st day and the second one 9 weeks later.
I have been using accu-chek performer before for years and no problem. But since using the guide its been nothing but problems the first one was purchased from a chemist and had a $40 cash back so I filled out the form and sent it back to the company. Used what test strips I had left on older accu-chek performer for next 29 days. Then went to use new accu-chek guide it would not turn on so tried new 2032 batteries and again it didn't work. Thought it might be new batteries dead so put it aside to get new batteries and continued with old pe...Read more
rformer glucometer and was getting script done at midway pharmacy and the still had accu-chek guides for sale with the same deal and said I will purchase it if turned on and yes it did. The chemist helped me fill the form out again to get the $40 cash back. They also said it could take up to 5 weeks for cash back to come and its been working nearly 9 weeks. Today it has just stopped working. So with no sign of 2 cash back offers coming back. I have lost interest in continuing with accu-chek products.Purchased in January 2021 at Chemist's for A$44.00.

Inaccurate results unreliable product
This is the most unreliable glucose monitoring system I've used. I've done multiple tests at the same time and get varied results ranging from 5.7 to 11.2! Same with fasting result from the same finger at the same time 4.9 to 9.8! I did the last one when getting the glucose blood test done at the pathology and the fasting reading I got then was 12.4 whereas when I got the result from Doctor the pathology fasting test result was 4.8!!!
Diabetes is a very serious condition and can be fatal. Such unreliable devices are very dangerous and shouldn't...Read more

Does anybody notice if the AccuChek guide is not accurate?
1 answer
I changed over to the Contour One as I didn't like the new meter and removing the test strips from the new packaging of the Accu-chek. Since the change the Contour One is reading much higher which would explain why my lab results weren't even close to the accu-chek readings. False readings isn't what is expected of your glucometer. Now I solely rely on the Contour One.
Pat K.asked
Readings are lower quite a bit on the accuchek guide compared to the aviva and smartview, why?
1 answer
I've recently upgraded to a Contour One meter and also have the Contour Next. Doing a text using both meters with the same tiny drop of blood show exactly the same reading. Something the Accu-Check Guide and Performer could never do.
