my father-in law has a SRD190C, 3 phase, 18.60 kw.
the unit has worked well for over 4 years that I know of, but every time I visit I listen the outside unit and it sounds as if it is short cycling, don't know it this is a inverter type, but I am used to inverter types ramping up and down, this unit sound as if it is cutting in and out several times a minute, is this normal, all filters are regularly clean and as I said it works very well in Tamworth with 40 degree temperatures. my question is why does the outside unit sound as if it is short cycling? any info would be apricated.

Hi Wayne,
What you're describing with the compressor motor tonal change up and down if perfectly normal operation for the ESP systems. The compressor motor is a digital scroll compressor which loads and unloads the motor to achieve 10-100% capacity control, rather than speeding up and down the motor like an inverter system.
If you'd like to know more, give our Technical Support team a call on 1800 119 229 and they can run you through it.
Thanks,
Catherine

Only 4 of my 8 zone lights work on my Actron Air conditioner and I reset to factory settings and now only 2 work. Can anyone tell me the solution please.

I am an Actron system owner. I have not experienced any problem with zone lights not working; however, I note that the Actron FAQ age includes the following:
12. Resetting of blank zones following a power outage
If you do not have any zone lights (or zones 3 and 4 lights are not lit up), please do the following:
1. Switch main air conditioning circuit breaker off for 1 minute.
2. Switch back on and walk to the wall controller.
3. Press zone buttons 1 to 4 in order, one after the other.
Your zones should now be re-activated.
I note that these instructions require the circuit breaker to be shut off for a minute not just the power switch on the control panel.
I don't have a background in air conditioning systems but I do have an engineering background. If the FAQ reset doesn't work, my guess is that you have a fault in the control panel that is not software related which means resetting to factory settings is not likely to solve the problem. I suspect you may have no alternative but to go back to the company that installed the system and, depending on the age of the system, you may be able to obtain a warranty repair. The other option is to contact Actron direct but they might simply refer you to an authorised dealer. Actron is a wholly owned Australian company located in Norwest Business park in Sydney so, if the system isn't too old, there is every chance spare parts will be available.
Thanks for your feedback. I will give it a go, but it is just unfortunate that it is a public holiday. I think I will try It once it isn't so hot, because at least now I have two working. If I lose it all it won't be good.
It is very easy to reactivate. Just call ActronAir Customer Support on 1800 119 229. Great people to deal with and very helpful.
