OK until you need repairs
Purchased 2 years ago and has provided good service on a 1000m2 block, especially after I purchased an extra battery. Catches OK and mulches quite well but not so good when grass is damp. Started having random stalling issues a few weeks back and then just stopped altogether. Contacted support and the eventual reply was to take it back for a refund, which is a decent outcome. Unfortunately I have a spare $200 battery that I can not take back for a refund. It was worth it to get some experience for a first battery mower, but now I will purchase a more reputable model from from a dealer where I can get better support and a replacement should I need it during the warranty period as my grass is getting quite long now!

Great for the price
bought from aldi about a year ago $399, have a mixed lawn grass 380m sq to mow 60% flat the rest 20-30 degrees slop that gets mowed when its over grown by between 4-8 cm or starts to look crappy every 7-10 days summer 10-20 winter. both rear wheels engage for forward speed witch is a normal+ walk pace for me
6ft tall. used as a mulching mower works perfect. battery last for about 35-45min enough to mow front or back lawn with power to spare or both just before battery dies. recharge takes 1hr-1hr30mins from empty
once you get used to the self p...

Second Battery
I am trying to buy a spare battery but it costs $200.00 It only lasts 20 minutes.
I just saw the whole mower (including battery and charger) for sale in my local Aldi for $300.00
I paid $400.00 for my mower.
What a dud this purchase has turned out to be.

Hopeless mower
I have only bought and used this mower not over three months.
It worked fine for the two times I used it but the self propelling system is very weak.
The third time I tried to use it with a fully charge battery, it refused to start no matter how many times I re-install the battery.
Every is solid and well made including the battery and charger but there seems to be a recurring fault with the starter system as I have already bought this mower twice and the first one would not even start with a fully charged battery.
Compared with lesser specifie...

Its a bit weak .No good on longer grass.Mow for 10 min charge batteries for 2 hours. Yawn..
nice on short grass . The wipper snipper that came with it is much the same . Might be ok for manscaping thats about it. Can I get my money back?
Purchased in January 2021 for $199.
where can you get a battery? I have only used it once and the battery did not last very long at all. Can anyone recommend a contact for a second battery? I find the mower fine otherwise it is good on my grass yer I have a reasonable block and I need the charge to last longer

Battery Replacement Prohibitively Expensive
We bought our Aldi Mower August 2022 and have been delighted with it up until now (October 2020).
The battery is dying and won't charge until it has cooled down. Or hold its charge for long.
It has 1 year warranty.
After Sales Support is by another agent called Positec Group.
There is no contact with Aldi, only impartial, unconnected agents.
On my third call in 3 days, I received a call back when I asked for battery prices.
$199 ea and $11 delivery.
As the battery only lasted 13 months
and is over half the cost of the mower,
I will be buying another mower elsewhere. ...

Very Disappointing: everything was great except the woeful battery. Don't buy!
I bought this two weeks ago after it went on sale at my local Aldi, the last one available and I was estatic I actually managed to find one.
It has a massive cutting width and catcher (51cm and 50L respectively - much better than most brand name competitors, and even those that can match are far more expensive eg the AEG at bunnings which is basically $700-$800. Both these larger aspects mean less work mowing and less emptying the catcher. So full marks there. (Though the catcher I found never seemed to fill up as the inlet from the machine w...
Read moreas much too narrow and not the best release mechanism, meaning a lot never came through to the catcher, which in turn mean quite a bit was spread over my lawn by default - so a bid shoddy there). It also was supposedly 'self-propelled' (though in reality didn't see any of that working as being a steel deck it is far heavier than most other battery mowers - I recall it weighing almost 50kg). But didn't really care for that as was happy to push. I just thought that with the large cutting width and large catcher it was easy, 'no-stinky odour-petrol mower-days'. Unfortunately though, after trying to mow my yard (350sqm) twice with it (ie still give it a go after the first failure) it still failed abysmally....the battery I found only lasted half hour, if that, meaning I could only cut a third my yard each time before I had to recharge (about 45 mins and boy does that charger hum with sound! So overall Not happy Jane. I took it back to Aldi two weeks after purchase who, true to form, refunded me in full, no questions asked. Kudos to them. I have to say I was beforehand warned by a family member not to buy it, because of the bad wrap/reputation generally battery and electrical mowers have against petrol ones, but also especially because of the low amps: a single 2.0Ah battery is shocking for a decent sized yard, which is what this mower had to power it. Don't think just because it says 80v that is somewhat more powerful than say a 36v working off a 4 or 5 ah battery. It's not. It's all about the ah - "amps" - the defining factor it seems in any battery mower. So take note - for the $400 it costs (not cheap for Aldi mower standards), sorry but it it is not worth it, too expensive, and a real flop battery-wise.Purchased in October 2020 at ALDI for $399.

ALDI Ferrex 80V Lithium-Ion 20" Brushless Lawn Mower
Despite a few negative reviews, I thought I'd give this mover a chance. Collected it from the store, a 40Kg box. This is a battery powered mower with a steel chassis!
Unpacked and at first couldn't find the screws for the handles. But eventually found then in the battery box. I also charged the battery which was showing 3/4 charged.
Now fully assembled and charged, I set about mowing my 400 square metre lawn. My lawn is a mixture. One space of 150 metres is Santa Ana which is a fine leaf lawn and the other is Sir Walter Buffalo a cours...
Read moree leaf lawn. Both lawns had been fertilized 3 weeks ago with heavy rain then days of sunshine. So it had grown well. I set the height to only take the tips of the lawn leaving it with a good height for the coming summer. It had been mowed only 2 weeks before. I used the catcher. It "started" easily with about a one second delay after pulling up the handle. I tried the self propelled method at first but found the speed too slow for my liking. Nevertheless, it is easily pushed. When I had finished mowing both lawns, I had collected a very full catcher. And to my surprise the battery indicator showed I still had 3/4 charge! I'm very very impressed.Purchased in October 2020 at ALDI for $399.
I loved it while it worked, back in the drought when the grass wasn't growing much, then it broke.
Appalling customer service from the Positec (Australian rep) and from Edgeworth Mowers (the repair agent).
Should have saved my time and taken it straight back for a refund

Cheap, Well made, battery life unaccpetable
Really well designed electric mower. Comfortable to manoeuvre not overly heavy. Performs well whilst the battery stays cool. the battery does deplete quite quickly in short to medium grass it will last approx 30 minutes. This is not exactly a huge issue if you have a small city yard, if you have a bigger suburban yard this may be annoying. It takes me approx two charges to mow my block. Doesn't take too long to recharge with the included fast charger.
The biggest short fall this mower has is the battery overheats very quickly in medium length ...
Read moregrass. This might be fine for southern states but for SE QLD and our humid summers where grass can grown inches overnight this product is not suitable. It would be fine if the fast charger could "cool" the battery by only running the cooling fan when on charge and then when it returns to "normal" operating temperatures it can charge again. I really wish this could have been a better product. It is the correct price point and really quite excellent build quality just the battery itself let's this product down.Purchased in October 2022 for $399.

Stopped working after 5 months - QLD repair centre cannot fix it
I purchased this at the end of August, it has been working very well but no longer starts. When I contacted the distributor they advised me to take the mower to Yamanto Mower Centre (QLD) which is a 40 minute drive for me. When I got to the repair centre I was advised by them that they can't repair it because it's electric. He also advised that he has had a large number of them come back to him for various issues. It seems as though my only option now is to get a refund.
When it worked it worked well but to stop working after such a short period of time with no option to repair has left me very annoyed.

Not working... returned for a refund.
Bought in November from local Aldi store. Easy to assemble and worked fine for a few times cutting fine leaves tiftuf grass on flat/levered grass areas 200sqm. Mow this area with once with a fully charged battery. Suddenly stopped working after a minute from start with a fully charged battery. Recharged battery again just in case. But did not start (clunks but the blade does not rotate).

Good value. Good mower
Having previously owned a petrol self propelled mower which I almost had to run behind to keep up with I was a bit concerned that this one would be similar and was pleasantly surprised to find that the travel speed was perfect for me.
Been using it for a couple of months and so far it's performed very well. It handles wet grass of a decent length as well as runner grass without hesitation self adjusting motor cutting speed to suit.
Mulches well, haven't used the catcher so can't comment on that.
Appears well built and designed, not sure about t...
