IT's four stroke, so no oil needed to be mixed into the fuel. however, it needs oil in it via the yellow oil dipstick.
Thanks Stewart
it absolutely requires oil, essential, albeit not in the fuel. In exact same way and form as almost all car engines require it. ie, added to its sump. 4 stroke engine oil-- not 2-stroke fluid as used in a traditional Victa, say.
It has a screw-in dipstick to check oil level, like your auto engine, same principal except scaled down in size...Most 4-stroke mower oil is something called "SAE30" typically bought in 1 litre containers.10W30 'synthetic' automotive engine oil, for example, is an able substitute for SAE30, and can work out a little cheaper. The average mower engine, various makes, fills with either 500 or 600 mls of it. (check manual for certainty on amount) Not much, but it has to be there. No oil...a few minutes running on average.. Your motor stops solid with a dull thunk. And stays stopped.
How the hell do you empty the oil out of this lawn mower?
On pretty much any mower,or similar 4-stroke gas- powered small appliance, if the drainplug is inconvenient to access or the user may be not having the necessary basic tools or the touch with basic tools to use the drainplug --(there is always a risk of inexperienced persons A.overtightening B. cross-threading mower drainplugs, which can be pretty disastrous if you screw that up in that way) --...so if any of that applies...or as some people allege, some recent/current Chinese mowers HAVE no crankcase drain plug,
then...
you get mower warm by running 2-3 mins, or after using...
, wipe oil filler plug/tube as clean as you can, then unscrew/remove filler plug/dipstick...(obviously don't put it somewhere dirty. Outside grit is not wanted inside the engine).
Tilt mower over from opposite side towards filler plug side, with something suitable underneath to catch old oil. Large plastic basin/tray whatever, they make good ones to do car oil changes with and they are suitable. ....black oil just pours freely out of filler tube, once machine is tilted enough. ..This may also be best done when gasoline -tank is empty or very low, to avoid any spillage from that. I lift them up and tilt rock shake them back and forth front to back a little too, as this helps remove the maximum amount of the old oil.
When little or none seems still to be coming out...put it back down level.....whatever the specified amount of oil for refills is, which is usually either 500 or 600 mls (but check specs) I typically put in that much --less-- 50-100mls...I leave it settle overnight if convenient..., recheck oil level, then add more a little dab at a time until I neatly reach the full mark on stick. Use...maybe next day after first use, re-check oil level again. Bear in mind it settles back down and gives most accurate reading on gauge after it has been warmed up and cooled down .
Aldi are selling a Gardenline oil change kit Part #8511 for $9.95 (January 2021). This has a syringe to draw the oil out and a tank to store it in till you can dispose of it. They also sell a full synthetic 4stroke engine oil part #10131to refill the engine for $12.95.
Where can I but the fuel line 57774/60751
Google "help.tools", ph 1300 889028 is the number to call service/parts agent.
Product "57774" (if 141cc) or '60751" if 161cc, Gardenline/ALDI mower.
(improved design) Fuel Hose @ $24 ea incl P&H. (ouch!)
the identical or almost identical mower is sold under brands, such as "909" and shares same parts. Good mower repair shops such as Noble Park Mowerpower would be a good chance to also stock the part, because there are so many of that design mower around, and that part is such a frequent cause of failure on them.
