Love this mower so much I purchased one for my son as well
Bought this after being tired of buying fuel for my old petrol mower, not expecting much but boy was I surprised.
Aldi Gardenline battery operated mowers must have a cult following as when arriving at the store just before opening there was a queue and everybody was after the mower !
I was lucky enough to purchase one and I also purchased 2 x 40w batteries even though it came with 2 x 20w the 40w batteries last longer and with an average size lawn the 40w work a treat with battery power to spare.
The blades cut through the lawn with ease...

Great price especially with whipper sniper. Easy to put together. Surprisingly quite powerful. Light and comfortable to use. Only have small lawn. I see people are not happy with battery life which is expected only 2 amp. Might get two more batteries. update bought two 4 amp batteries and all good twice the mowing time have big lawn and batteries are very good. Love my mower. You can do at least 500/600sm with 2 amp batteries

No problem with the mower, it's the batteries that destroy all credibility and render the use of this mower to be pointless. Unless you just want to mow a lawn that is 20 x 10 feet forget it. The batteries will be dead after that. To mow a quarter of an acre you'll need to charge the batteries at least six times at an hour each. So if you do 20' to 25' and have to charge for two hours, expect to take two to three days to mow your lawn! The 2 AH Xfinity batteries supplied with the mower are simply inadequate for the task. 4 AH batteries would b...
Read moree better suited. I have purchased a second charger to speed battery charging time but that doesn't make the mower run any longer. $199 seemed like a bargain but after 10 minutes of mowing the honeymoon was over. ALDI, I expected better from you. A scythe is a much better option than this mower.Purchased in December 2020 at ALDI for $199.

It's no old fashioned powerful 2 stroke Victa but then it's not supposed to be.
We live on acreage and I bought this to mow all the little bits around the house where the ride on won't fit. Prior to this I used either a petrol brush cutter, or an old Rover mower that weighed a ton, was a pain to start, and leaked more petrol and oil than it burnt. I already have quite a few 4Ah batteries as I have some of the Aldi shop tools. This little thing is great, cuts well, better than I thought it would, is a light as a feather fits all the places I need it to go, and the 4Ah batteries last quite a while.
I once used it to mow...

OK for small yards and dry grass - but wet grass challenges mower
This was purchased as i liked the idea of moving away from using petrol and all the complications that introduces.
I already had 2 x 4amp batteries and 2 fast chargers.
The Positives:
Light, easy to lift in and out of car (when mowing mum's lawn), easy to maneuver, adequate number of height adjustments, OK size catcher, instant start / stop.
I found i could mow ~ 70 sqm with ~ 50% life left in the 2 batteries.
The Negatives:
Main gripe - struggles when grass is wet; I found mine didn't push clippings into the catcher but rather collected it u...

It broke down only after a few weeks of cutting a very small patch of grass. I had to charge it every 10 -20 minutes. What should take only 20 minutes to cut the grass it took me 2 days. I have returned it.

Battery life is woeful, long recharge time
Heavy and cumbersome to operate, not very manouverable. Battery life is twenty minutes at best, and two hours plus to recharge both batteries. Takes all weekend to mow and edge a 450m block. Can't handle thick grass- it keeps cutting out! When it cuts the result is good, but it can't handle very much. The $50 ozito electric mower it replaced performed far better on thick/ long grass and had far more grunt.

Have a new small Sir Walter lawn and this mower glides nicely over it not missing anything. The catcher is easy to use and fills nicely. This cheap mower was chosen over any of the Ozito ones that simply could not compare well. Love the old Victa style handle and the large rear wheels make going down steps very easy. The battery power of 2x2A 20v easily does my small lawn. The bonus whipper snipper is great too. Glad I didn't spend twice the money on a Ryobi.

Works a treat. I have kikuyu grass for the dogs at the side of the house, sir Walter DNA (large front yard) and couch / kikuyu nature strip
Completes its all and has 60% charge left over. In terms of sqm size on my lawns I'd say maybe 150sqm all up (including nature strip)
Don't be a tight butt and use the 2ah batteries, buy the 4ah!!
Cutting, jamming - no issues
Starts first time every time. Used 10+ times(since buying), no issues
The catcher works well too, ignore the comments about it being fiddley - takes 2 seconds to place it in its correct alignment
I use the left over battery power for edging ...
Read more I would recommended his mower to other people, 5 year warranty you can't really lose (besides getting a replacement mower as its not readily available). I was genuinely surprised by the performance, my back yard is sloping, roughly 15mx 15m and difficult to maneuver a heavy 4 stroke.
The aldi 2 x 20v lawnmower made short work of it, was much easier to throw around and still had 60% battery left (I used my already owned 4ah batteries). The only down side I found had was that I found the catcher fiddly in the way it attached to the mower In the 3 occasions I emptied it.

Great little lawn mower. Puts together easily and charged batteries easily. Did both my lawns with ease. Maybe about 200m2. Batteries both large had 56% charge still remaining. The only negative is its a little light but that's it. Maybe I'm used to the old heavier type of mower, Lets hope it gives me a few years.

Questions & Answers
What size is fuse on this mower?
Can you use a 4amp battery and a 2amp battery together
If there is a specific circumstance that requires you ask this, then you should give it?
eg, one of your original 2.0Ah batteries was damaged because when you removed it after mowing, it was so hot that you dropped it on the concrete. You wonder if you should buy a replacement 2.0Ah or 4.0Ah.
I would suggest the most cost effective replacement is to buy the 2.0Ah with charger included. That will give you a useful upgrade because you can recharge two batteries using two chargers at the same time. You will be able to get back to (15 mins) mowing after one hour of battery charging.
If you just want to use a mixed pair (dumb) in the mower, then you will find the 4.0Ah is still half charged when the mower stops because the 2.0Ah is flat.
Then I use my other 2.oh that is fully charged
Yes I have a 2x20v Gardenline Mower model GY0151, it still runs, but it seems to shut down as soon as I start mowing over grass. I need a repair guy. Anybody know of anyone in Sydney that repairs Gardenline?
There are safety switches, on handle.
Might be dirty contacts.
Battery contacts in battery compartment might be dirty.
Batteries might be faulty.
Your best bet would be to phone Aldi Support Number in your instruction book.
They will advise you of one of their authorised repairers in your area.

I've had the mower for 2 1/2 year now and the latest is:
Read more+ Still try to avoid using it when grass is wet; but I empty the catcher frequently + I still find it convenient to lift [lighter than my petrol mower I have given to the kids] and use [batteries are easier than petrol] + despite the plastic body and catcher mounting design [thin plastic hooks to locate the catcher's metal bar frame] - I was expecting this to have broken - but no - still OK. Negatives: - front wheel came off, a centering bush became lost, I remounted it (without the bush) but it wasn't quite right, coming apart frequently. ++BUT - I contacted Aldi customer service / warranties. The process was pretty painless. A couple weeks later I received replacement wheels and now i'm back to using my mower. Further tips; I found using the mower so easy that I would cut the grass more frequently. It took less time, and I managed to produce a better looking lawn. Frequent cutting does that - an easy mower facilitates that. Also - battery drain is about 20% [goes from 100% > 80%] and I assume the mower isn't having to work so hard. Final Reflections: Do I regret buying this mower....in hindsight - probably no. This was a successful - low cost test of electric vs petrol equipment. Would I buy another Aldi's electric mower? Not sure - I may splurge and get a Makita mower - stay tuned for that review [if it happens]. Would I change my score? I think yes - from 2 star to 3 star; This allows for a hypothetical benchmark 5 stars compared to a no limitations super powerful mower. To avoid any confusion - I don't suggest everyone ditches their petrol mower. Consider your situation, tolerance to the ideosyncrancies and limitations these devices may have but you may find the change is a good thing.Positives:
+ Still going OK despite the regular use....
