Very Average Device
I was pretty pleased with this when we bought it - it was excellent for spot cleaning and with two messy children there are ample opportunities to use it. Fast forward two years later - the battery barely runs for 3 minutes on a charge before needing a full recharge. Not exactly durable! It still looks new and now barely runs. Not happy!

This is no Dyson, but..
Lumina portable vac 50889. Bought this last week because I need a cheap handheld vac. This could be a different model than those reviewed here before but I expect the quality would probably be the same for the low price. It is true that the suction is very poor even when it is new, fully charged, and the filter not dirty at all. However, there is a reason for this fault, IMHO. The issue I found is the vac claimes to be a wet and dry. The filtering air flow has therefore to go an indirect route and the filter itself must protect the motor from ...Read more
any liquid contamination. Hence the poor suction experienced. I took out the original filter and replace it by the type of filter one normally puts in front of the fan housing in a kitchen range hood. Cut the filter to size to cover the area where the motor housing joins the filter housing. You will find that suction improves remarkably when the appliance is fully charged and this modification applied. One drawback still is the battery would last maximum of 10-15 min. of operation but somewhat expected for using cheap NiCad in the device. This is certainly no Dyson handheld (costing several hundred dollars) but it won't break the bank either. It is good for light cleaning of the car and tidy up bathrooms for hairs on the floor tiles, bath tubs etc. It will be no good for picking up liquid spills in general. I think for $30 it is OK if you do the slight modification stated above. In an ideal world I would buy a Dyson handheld if I can afford it, but I can't.Similar opinion?
