Didn't have that problem but used proper ironing distilled water so maybe that helped. If it is still in warranty I would return it due to the problem I did have of not being able to dock it on the recharge stand eventually.

Our Aldi sourced iron had the same problem which got progressively worse until the automatic cut-out circuit failed due to water ingress in the cut-out relay. Our problem was largely due to the shot-of-steam function, failure of the rubber seal around the shot-of-steam plunger in the hot plate was allowing steam to also penetrate back into the body of the iron condensing back to water and hence dripping, if you don't use the shot-of-steam it may not drip water but still the iron is not working as it should and is failing prematurely, it should work for at least ten (10) years. Distilled water may not overcome this problem, I have not looked at the seal to see why it is failing but at least distilled water will not cause deposits from dissolved calcium or other iron compounds that may be in your normal water supply. We have always used regular Melbourne tap water and have never had a clothes iron fail as quickly as this Aldi iron, ours usually last 12-15 years.

I have no idea if they're even made still. Mine quit working right at the 1 year mark. Not so great after all.

Sorry mine is yrs old too but doesnt have a cartridge check out google u can get manuals for everything there

It has a cream coloured "Teflon"- like coating.
