Brutally Efficient
I've only been using the Champ 5 on my Shindaiwa straight shaft brushcutter for a few days, but I'm a convert! The head is brutal on whatever you point the brushcutter at ... tall grass, woody weeds and Lantana are treated that same way.
I was converting from the auto-feed head sold with the brushcutter (which was rubbish ... I had to screw it together to stop it flying apart), and was initially sceptical about using a fixed line head. I didn't want to be stopping every 10 minutes to change line. I need not have worried ... the Champ 5 wi...Read more
th 3.6mm square line ate 1/2 acre of tall grass and woody weeds with ease, without needing a line change. By comparison, the auto feed head with 3.0mm round line would have used 1.5m of line over the same area. Additional care is needed around obstacles though ... I managed to cut through chicken wire with this head, and I've no doubt it would ring-bark smaller trees with ease if not used carefully. In summary though, a brilliant brushcutter head. If you use your brushcutter for medium to heavy duty work, this head has no equal. Few parts, low wear on the line, excellent cutting performance.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
The Brilliant Champ 5
I've been using the champ 5 head on a Stihl FS 130 to clear my property for a year or two now. It does a magnificent job in cutting bracken fern and other tough woody shrubs and weeds quickly and also shreds the cut material. The 3.6mm nylon string lasts a very long time and is so easy to replace. I've used an articulated metal device and serrated string on a conventional head in the past but nothing does the job as good as the Alex Brushcutter head. I highly recommend it.

Why don't the manufacturers get smart?
I fitted the Turbo 3 to a Stihl bent shaft machine yesterday. Took 30 seconds. Fitted bits of Stihl line (need to use it up), used the machine for 20 minutes, line had hardly warn, finished job. If I had used the Stihl bumper head, I would have had to dismantle the head 3 times over that period (at least), retrace the line which breaks off at the right angle bend, and continued to be frustrated at such "original equipment" rubbish. The Turbo 3 is magnificent.

Turbo 3
I spent ages trying to find a replacement spool for my old Stihl petrol trimmer with all sorts of unhelpful advice from "experts". The I discovered Alex Brushcutter Heads. 10 minutes to fit - done. Really solid simple design. Drives 4 lines comfortably and far more efficient than the original.

At last a trimmer that works!
For years now I've struggled with trimmers and the useless line feeders. I was so frustrated at them
constantly needing attention-until now. I read about the Alex heads online, and thought it was worth
giving them a try. Not cheap, but what an amazing little bit of genius. My Ryobi is now a monster
trimming machine, fitted with the Turbo 3 head.
I have nothing but warm fuzzies for Alex brushcutters excellent service, and product. Delivery from Australia to New Zealand took just 5 days from the day I ordered. If you are looking for some w...Read more

Well worth the cost, don't waste money elsewhere!
Like most of the others here reviewing the Turbo 3 head I did heaps of research and wasted time trying cheaper options (Li'l Juey, etc). The Alex Brushcutter Turbo 3 is the kind of product you'd make yourself if you had the time, skill, machinery and great ideas that Ian (from Alex Brushcuter Heads) does. Its machined from aluminium and is likely to outlive you and your line trimmer.
I installed the Turbo 3 (designed for bent shaft trimmers) on my old 2 stroke McCullouch Pro Mac Super I and spent the next 30 minutes trimming around the garde...Read more
n without stopping once! During that time I used about 10mm from the ends of the Alex brand pre-cut line (2.7mm square cut). I was sceptical about the pre-cut line but it really is a step above what you can buy at Bunnings, etc. I can't rate this product high enough, from the personal service that Ian offers to the quality of the heads. They're not cheap but you won't regret it! Note, that the slight increase in head weight using the Turbo 3 means you might need rev your trimmer more to get the head working for you (2 strokes are made for revving anyway). Also the additional power of the head means you'll have to hold on a little tighter to your trimmer. The head came with the option of using 1 or 2 lengths of line. For my 28cc trimmer 1 length of line worked best. Great service, quality product. The price can appear to be hard to justify, at nearly twice that of the rubbish plastic ones you can buy at the hardware store. But realistically, you are buying a hand-made, high quality, alloy part, and you'll have many years of happy trimming.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Turbo 3 trimmer head saves the day and the trimmer
I've had two GMC model RLT860, bought from Bunnings Hardware in 2006. The trimmer heads are plastic rubbish not fit for purpose and after about two months both were assigned to storage. I finally decided that there must be a better trimmer head out there or maybe I could design one. After quite a bit of research looking at a couple of different designs I ordered a Turbo 3 trimmer head from Alex Brushcutter Heads. Within a week it arrived, took less than five minutes to fit and I got stuck into a session of hassle free trimming the way I alwa...Read more
ys knew it should be. This is what trimmer heads should be like not like the throw away rubbish supplied on most trimmers these days. I'm very impressed. What a great idea and what a great product. I only wish that I'd thought of it many years ago and got in before Alex Brushcutter Heads. Simple, easy to use, no spool, no plastic.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

A Revelation ...
My Ryobi 1000 watt trimmer, ( we call them 'strimmers here in England), came with the usual bump-feed line system. After the very first use, I realised that the bump-feed 'feature' rendered the machine virtually useless. I shoved the month-old machine into the toolshed, and pondered - quite seriously - whether I should simply junk it and purchase a machine with a decent cutter system. The machine as supplied was hardly fit for purpose.
Somehow, I found the advertisement for the Turbo 3 Alex Brushcutter 3 heads. It promised much; jaded as I...Read more
was, I felt skeptical; but I contacted Alex by e-mail and requested information regarding the correct head for my Ryobi. His assistance was rapid, and unstinting; and after identifying the correct thread fastener for my machine, I ordered a Turbo 3. It arrived here in England within a few days. The head looks to be almost of aircraft-quality in its manufacture. Installation took a few minutes, and then I set to cutting down large nettles and thistles at the side of my property. What an utter revelation ... Using the recommended square-section pre-cut line from Alex Brushcutter Heads, my previously completely useless Ryobi went through the nettles and thistles like the proverbial hot knife through butter. It quite literally felt as though the motor had been doubled in power. And no bump-feed ... it just cuts, and cuts, and cuts! If you have a Ryobi, or any other trimmer which can be fitted with one of these heads, do not hesitate for one minute. Invest in one of the Alex Brusjcutter heads; you will never, ever regret it. It might seem initially a tad expensive, but be in no doubt; the dramatic improvement in cutting speed and efficiency, coupled with the fact that the Alex Brushcutter line will cut for a long, long time before you need to replace with fresh pieces, will produce a great economy in operation. I am a domestic user; but for any commercial user, the investment will pay for itself over and over and over. Fantastic product; a wonderful Company to deal with; sky-high quality ... this Englishman takes off his hat to a magnificent Australian product, coupled with the most perfect, friendly and personal help and assistance. Thank-you!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Turned a piece of junk into a beautiful line trimmer
My line trimmer (the Ryobi ELT1100A) came with a useless head. I had read that before buying it, and had also read that it would work perfectly with a head from Alex Brushcutter Heads (the Turbo 3). That was true. I love that thing. No more stopping every few minutes to adjust the line.

EDIT: I ended up noticing they also had an 1800 number and called them, organizing an order for a Turbo 3 as I type this. (26/05/2019)
Are they still active and selling the replacement heads? I can't find much actionable information/reviews on this, and I have not gotten an email back, so I can't tell 100% if they are operational.

Alex Brushcutter Heads - All of the reviews are extremely enthusiastic about this product and the supplier's service.
Could anyone please help me with the phone or how to contact Alex Brushcutter Heads?
From the reviews, one assumes these heads are only available from the maker but I've been unable to find a direct internet reference or a listing on the white pages.
