I have to do the metre readings for them all the time!
Previously the metre reader said my side gate was locked so that he can't take the readings (no, it has no lock. He tried to push but didn't try to pull).
This time he left a note saying I have a dog (no, I don't have any pets. Not even my neighbours).

to have our business with them they promised a low price, then started to make it higher and higher, Christmas time we closed for 3 weeks and we received a higher bill than usual, don"t trust them

Connecting Solar
Alinta contractor come out and gave us an installation defect for our newly installed meter upgrade for our solar. However the form they provided us after 5 hours of ringing around and 3 electricians confirming it is for new dwellings not preexisting dwelling which our house is. After ringing the connections team from Energex the person there said in 20 years of experience he hasn't seen this form produced to us today for an existing dwelling. Alinta has had multiple phone calls from us today and we are yet to receive an answer or phone call back!!! NOT HAPPY!

HORRIBLE SERVICE
Was rejected when the application was completed online, however received a letter saying “welcome” when I called they advised the service was cancelled. However, it was never set up as they had REFUSED us in the first place.

Disgusting service across the board!
Continued to charge me for electricity despite moving out of premise. Have attempted to sort it out via their customer service department but they palmed me off and they still send me bills. Disgusting!

Expensive, and dismissive
Though I find my bills to be slightly cheaper with them versus Lumo and Energy Australia. However I can't stand how dismissive they are... I personally have lost my job due to Covid-19, and my housemate has to move out because of it... we were behind on a bill. Alinta was only able to give 2 weeks extension! What a joke, then sent an email of a disconnection threat! How do they justify charging over $600 for a household of 2? One works night shifts at the hospital, another works all day and away as a truck driver...????? RIP OFF!
Before I installed solar panels I was using an average daily consumption of 8kw. I installed solar panels and now I am apparently using 16kw daily. How the hell does my consumption double after installing solar panels!!! Absolute rip off!!

Avoid Alinta. Expensive. You will feel dupe once you received your first bill and the next
Switched to Alinta in December. First bill came in Feb.. They screwed it up. Did not include solar tariff
Second bill included solar tariff but only for 10 days. 3rd came and still a disappointing lower solar tariff for 30 days compared to when I was with AGL. They seems to be not calculating it well. Always telling you its data the from the a solar feed-in report. We'll data in a report can be tweaked to make it appear lower

Changed me from my current provider with no permission
I was changed to Alinta with no permission at all for my electricity, I tried to cancel and my provider (AGL) had me sign forms and then contacted Alinta on my behalf. I got back to AGL fortunately in a short period. They then had the audacity to send me nearly a $100 bill. Very disappointed, do not deal with Alinta. The Australian Cricket Team needs new sponsors.

Terrible stay clear
I was signed with Alinta without my consent through a third party in Sep. I repeatedly called to say I did not consent to sign up as did my old provider but they signed me up anyway. It took 6 months for my electricity to go back. Meanwhile I was charged the highest bill I have ever received. I contacted their complaint team as was told I would have an answer within a week and 4 weeks later still waiting. I have just lodged a complaint with the Ombudsman. I hope they get fined. Very bad customer service and unethical behaviour.

Forge company never never go to this company, they are biggest thugs .
Last year 2022 I signed alinta energy for gas d electricity. I got my first will after 5 months and it's come 800$ and after discount its come around 530&.
I was shocked to see that. When I asked them explanation t. They did not give me reliable answers or you can say they don't know anything. Now I am with energy Australia and I got my bill for 90 days zero bill on top I got25&cr towards solar.
Now I have dispute over gas bill. These people owe me 17 dollars but they refuse to pay me back on top they asked to pay full money of gas bill.
Shame on you alinta your are ripper of people money.

Awful
Customer service is awful. I was with a large provider for 5 years and my first bill with Alinta was the highest I have ever received. The customer service officers and supervisors expect the customer to sort out issues. The customer service also have no clue about what is going on in Australia.

In Financial Hardship so they charge me $250 more!
I sent them an email explaining my position & they send a ROBOT to call me demanding payment, no options, no humans nothing! I then get email threatening me. So call them & get someone called Vincent who sounds like he is in India who doesn't listen & keeps talking over me! It takes him minutes to type in every step of ID verification. Vincent said he would send me a Hardship application form & days later its not here! After an hour I get thru to another Dept. who want me to sign up for 12 months of payments before I even fill out hardship forms. Filthy mongrels charging people in financial hardship hundreds of $ more.

I don't get it.
I live alone. Since my last power bill, I have switched off my upright freezer and a big fish pond pump, I have not switched anything new on but yet my latest power bill is about $100 more! How the hell does that work???

I wonder
my phone number +61 (61) does not work, why electricity and computer work 24/7, why can't you let your people work from home, why don't you and the top 150 multinationals and central banks forgo interests and bills till this crisis is over. 4 days later no response, lots of unemployed people available why not employ more people to resolve your problems. You are an essential service if a country refuses you to work cut off their electricity supplies.

Same usage as a 4 person house
Just recieved a $560 bill with an estimated daily consumption of 17 equivilent to a 4 person dwelling. I live alone and am not home from mon to fri exept for after 6 where I watch tv and go to bed. This is absoloute lunacy this bill gets higher and higher every quater yet im not adding any extra white goods or electronics and I dont have aircon this is a disgusting rort

They won’t submit solar information to power cor.
I have given up on Alinta the customer service just lie and will not help. I got a solar system installed on Feb 24 the solar company submitted the changes to powercor on the day of electrical sign off. Powercor submitted a job that afternoon pending Alinta to job on system and merely type a few lines in a portal so powercor can alter meter for solar generation.
Excuses for Alinta we have not received email from my Solar installer. Email proof provided and resent on 3 occasions.

So congratulations your company my have been able to rip me off for two weeks power. I will leave your dishonest company as soon as powercor completes the meter reconfiguration. Your company blatantly lies I have proof of emails and powercor times and attempts to contact Alinta. I will provide this to the ombudsman.Please be warned do not go with this energy company. They have the worst ratings on Product review site.

Loyal until now.
We have been with alinta for many years and have moved 3 times before.
This move has had me lose all faith in the company. I spoke to the call centre to arrange disconnection (of old property) and connection (of new property). 4 days after expected connection, still no electricity. No one contacted me to explain “error”. Called today and were told it would be connected in 2 hours. Nope. And still no alert to an issue.
My husband is now driving to the new property at 8.40pm while on the phone to the call centre. We have had trade call our fees, with work unable to be competed. I am extremely dissatisfied and disappointed. We will be considering taking our business elsewhere if the issue has not been resolved.

Queensland Seniors Concession
I have contacted Alinta Energy in regard to non payment of my Queensland Seniors Concession. Even though I have held my Seniors Concession Card since 2012 and Alinta have paid my Concession as far back as November 2017 they have failed to pass on my concession on many occasions claiming I am only entitled to the Seniors Concession from November 2022. Short answer, you can't with Alinta.
Here's the truth from Alinta's Solar Ts&Cs:
6.7 A Solar Electricity Credit has no value other than as prescribed in this Agreement, it is not transferable and we are not under any circumstances required to pay you any amount of money under the terms of this Agreement in respect of Solar Electricity Credits. Any Solar Electricity Credits which have accrued and, as at the date this Agreement terminates, have not been set-off against amounts payable by you under your Energy Agreement will be extinguished without compensation to you effective upon termination of this Agreement.
