It is because this product is an absolute lemon. You are lucky to get 12 months out of it! Sorry to hear you also wasted your money, like I did.

Easy to use quite powerful but the fan is not strong enough to extract the moist air leaving the interiot quite wet and this leads to rust along the joints in the cavity in less than 12 months

No unless you open the door and just shut it again... it's there to let you know you still have food in your microwave
All modern microwaves do this not just anko ones they continue to be beep until you open the door ..I for one like the feature because I myself have left food in the microwave and forgotten about it..

My microwave was just delivered after a lengthy wait. After using the microwave once I noticed the clear hard plastic film covering the inside glass has a crack in the centre. How do I reset the time on my Anko microwave? I set it, it stays for a few seconds and then returns to 0000, It's as though the m/w computer is faulty since other buttons don't appear to work either.
Press the clock icon. Set the time and then press the clock icon again. That is definitely the way to do it as I have done that when the power has gone off. If the other buttons dont work then I would return it to Kmart immediately for a refund.

Please can you advice me on the defrost button, If I press defrost and then say 1 minute the contents will be really hot and not defrosted. It is as if I have set it to full power. Also if I want to change the power setting I press "power level" and it beeps twice, I then press a number (7 ) now press start, the microwave just counts down from set number (7) and beeps again to finish. If I press "power button" again while it is counting down it tells me it is on 100%. This microwave is driving me crazy.
