Disappointing
Anko 4 slice long slot toaster. Cooks unevenly, burnng the toast on one side. Bread can only be placed one way to cook the entire piece, not leaving enough room for a second slice.
Kmart has kindly offered a ref7.
Too small for normal bread!
Bought this due to price after several poor-quality expensive toasters.
It couldn't even do the basic thing it was meant to do - toast bread. We use breadshop bread (square loaves) so it's about the smallest bread you can get. Even so the bread was too tall to fit into the toaster, so only 2/3 to 3/4 of the bread was toasted!
Returned it straight after testing it! (Kmart great customer service)
(And no, I'm not expecting miracles from a cheap toaster - I'm expecting it to function as advertised, i.e. a toaster!)

It seems not all toasters are created equal!
Well my experience with this toaster is the total opposite of the other reviewer, just hope I don't jinx myself posting this, but the toaster I bought is fabulous. However, in recent weeks I've purchased two other toasters (different brands) which were total failures and I also have to ask 'how hard is it to make a toaster that works?'.
While I've only owned this toaster for around 10 days it has been used daily to toast sliced bread, crumpets and pikelets, all have browned evenly on setting #2 with both sides of the bread etc being the sa...
Read moreme. One of the failed (other brand) toasters would leave one side of the bread un-toasted while the outside was OK, so the first thing I did with this Anko toaster was to check if the centre elements were illuminated the same as the outside ones...and they were! I like the elongated shape of this toaster as it takes up less bench space than the newer style 4-slicers which are much deeper and chunky...and don't look as attractive, imho. I also like that it's white as this works best with a white kitchen. The lever to lower the bread has a firm feel and locks without hesitation, whereas this was a problem with a previous toaster, so something I made sure to check on this model. Really nothing I can say against this toaster as it does the job and doesn't break the bank, unlike some other brands which are horrendously overpriced, look horrible and at the end of the day, do a similar job (hopefully they work just as good).
Purchased in at Kmart Retail Stores for $29.

How hard is it to make a toaster that works well?
Judging by the many poor toaster reviews - very difficult! This Anko toaster is no different. Looks ok with its nice curves and blue LED lights - but falls flat with its one task: cook a slice of toast. I mean, I'm not asking for perfection every time, but the inconsistency of this toaster is almost laughable.
We have set this toaster on "1" permanently, because anything higher than 2 and you're likely to burn your toast (well, half of it, the other half is barely brown). Occasionally you're lucky and it takes one go on the "1" setting. B...
Read moreut usually it's close to 2 rounds. Very frustrating that you can't trust a toaster timer to cook a slice of toast (or three of four) somewhere between barely crispy and char-grilled. And yes, it's not even an even toasting when it works - tends to burn near the centre on both slots while underperforming on the ends. Taking it back to try our luck with another one in this very hit-and-miss product category!Find out how Anko 4 Slice Long Slot Toaster compares to other Toasters
