Could not live without
Absolutely love our Apple TV, so easy to function once you get the hang of it and such smooth transitions between phone & tv and tv with any app required. We don’t even need ours connected to free to air because of the availability to all we need via apps. One stop shop!

User-friendly and great updates from the older models
We originally got the 4th generation to use with our second TV, and immediately switched it with our 3rd generation to use on the main TV. I loved our 3rd generation and thought that the updates on the 4th would just be overkill but boy was I wrong. To begin with, the 4th gen. has access to the App Store, which means you can download a multitude of apps for viewing or gaming. One of the most notable updates seem to be linked to the Siri remote, which now has the button/function for voice control. This makes searching for a specific show so much...Read more
easier and faster (instead of the letter-by-letter selection on streaming services). Another update is the touch surface scrolling button, which is both visually impressive as well as easy to use. It also has now incorporated a volume button, which means you no longer have to reach for the TV remote except to turn the TV on/off. Like all Apple products, setup is extremely simple and the entire product just screams with user-friendliness, allowing you to connect to your iPhone or iPad (for photos etc). I guess the only downside is that the remote is still relatively tiny compared with other remotes, so you live with the fear of losing it because then your entertainment life would just get so much harder.

Not worth it
When you already own a expensive smart tv. Apple TV not worth it when it provides all the same services the tv provides for free or you already pay for

Not just another PVR
Purchased the Apple TV 4K, simply to be able to watch Disney+.
Went for the 4K edition as technology is always upgrading, therefore we’re looking ahead. There is the choice of gab 32 or 64. Due to downloads, we opted for the 64gb. Price wise, there wasn’t much to squabble about.
For new users, the Apple box does carry weight and is compact and sturdy. It doesn’t come with a HDMI cable, so this is an extra expense unless you have a spare at home. Setting up is quite easy as you follow the instructions. The remote control is a little sensitive t...Read more

Awesome product
Awesome product. Was so easy to connect and set up. My family loves the ease of watching their videos, photos and streaming content from their phones and iPad onto our tv. Netflix and Stan even works better than running it through our smart tv. Great product!

Perfect for Apple-based family!
We originally purchased one for the lounge room and loved the product so much we purchased another one for the bedroom. It is great as my entire family have iPhones, so we all use our phones as the TV remotes as it automatically turns our TVs on and off. We watch all live TV (i.e. ABC Kids, 7, 9 and 10) through the apps but mainly use Netflix and Stan. When we want to share something from our iPhones, iPads or MacBooks we just AirPlay to the TVs.

Get rid of your old 3rd Generation Apple TVs now!
I have just sold two of our old 3rd gen Apple TVs and upgraded to the Generation 4 models, and couldn't be happier. The vast selection of Apps is impressive. I am especially happy to see Plex there too so I can watch my own movie collection rather than what is added to iTunes.
I don't have difficulty with the new remote, but the simplicity of the previous design with the brushed aluminium is missed.
Buying this version now from Apple will also give you 12 months free of Apple TV+ when it launches in November, so get rid of your obsolescent Gen 3 Apple TVs while the second hand demand is still there! I bought an Apple refurbished one and saved $40

Could be a lot better
Pros:
Small, powerful, reliable streaming, it does 4K images.
Voice control makes life a lot easier for example "resume xyz" will start where it left off for series xyz, no need to remember season, episode number, or exactly where you stopped last time when watching a particular episode.
Cons:
Expensive
It's setup to steer you away from free to air to paid alternatives. For example, sometimes when I ask siri to play an ABC or SBS program, it will present me with paid versions of the same thing, or even totally irrelevant paid programs.
It does not allow sound decoding passthrough, so the decoding is whatever Apple TV decides, not necessarily the originally intended optimum sound.

Great for netflix
One day the Apple TV HD might be the revolution the Cupertino company promised it would be. But, for right now, it's a middling streaming video player that has a premium remote and a price tag to match.

Fantastic! Well worth the money!
The apple TV is unique. It is simple and easy to use. Great for a family at home or helpful for a teacher in the classroom.
The simple design is unlike any other. It is easy because the buttons are quite big and this makes it easy for any age.

One of the best media streamers
Being a huge Apple fan here, using they are all of 4 generations of Apple TVs before this. I must say this version of Apple media streamer is a game-changer. If you have 4K or thinking of getting a 4K wants to watch Netflix or Apple movies in 4K, clarity of the picture will be epic. Even the screen savers "fly by ariel footage in 4K is fantastic. A couple of few gripes just like any product. I wish they left the optical sound out (AKA TOSLINK). May be their marketing research showed people are using HDMI instead. Second is their remote. Much ...Read more
easier to download their remote app to the phone or iPad when you are setting it up first. Especially when you try to connect to your WIFI SSID. I wish Apple can come with a remote or an App I can control my TV & the sound system. On a good note thank god the DVD, Blueray player are all gathering dust now. If you can get 4K content streaming, and you love Apple ecosystem of their products, this is for you. Consider HD space too. I would recommend 64GB if you are a selfie junkie who likes to keep all your photos on iCloud or wants to down space heavy apps. Be mindful only to keep family-friendly photos as every who clicks on photos icon can see your photos in full HD in the living room. Be careful with the remote. There's a glass surface for touch. You slip this remote on the tile surface, that would be an expensive mistake.Purchased in July 2021 at eBay for A$267.00.

Almost perfect
I love what this little set top box is capable of. I love that it streams efficiently and without lag. I love that I can watch so much more on my TV now. What I do NOT love is this weird little glitch it appears to have bought with it once connected to my TV. Every 20 or so minutes it begins a process of shutting down the TV. IF this wasn’t enough, once you get the TV back on and working it is suddenly MUTE. This is such a ridiculous rigmourole to be sorting out repeatedly almost every time the Apple TV is being used. If it didn’t have this issue I would give it the highest rating, as it is otherwise awesome!

Update life with Updated Apple TV 4K
Apple TV 4K has been updated substantially. After numerous upgrades, the Apple TV 4K remains our top video streamer pick for the house. Apple fans let’s be honest, these are not alway the cheapest products on the market and those who don't mind paying a little extra for its advantages, delivery you a premium experience like Dolby Vision HDR.
Update after update have made this product stronger, Apple TV 4K just keeps getting better. Pay the extra for the Apple TV 4K. If you own a 4K or HDR TV you'll get an immediate benefit, and even if you don't, chances are good that your next TV will be 4K and HDR compatible.
Get out your iPhone, strap on the watch and tune in with Apple TV 4K. It’s brilliant.

Excellent 4K streaming and mirroring your device to your TV
I purchased the latest 64gb 4K Apple TV about two weeks ago and I love it..!! Great 4K streaming from Netflix, Stan etc and easy to set up, use and add apps. Some content on Netflix seems to skip a little (I have a sold WiFi Connection so it not that) which can be annoying but everything else works as it should. The new remote is now touch as well as click which I found a little so sensitive but you can go into the settings and change the sensitivity to suit your own touch. Plus the new remote is now rechargeable (same plug as the current iPhon...Read more

I purchased the Apple 4K TV (23/03/20) specifically to get KAYO.
The Apple 4K TV cost me $249.00 & after I set it up, updated the firmware and got into the app store it lists every other app in the known universe but not KAYO. Why would this be happening?
2 answers
Hi, Kayo is available but you need to physically download the app. Go to the ‘app’ icon ‘A’ click, then go to apps, click, search Kayo, usually on first line. Click, then follow instructions- Get - sign in with your Apple ID. All should be good then. Hope this helps.
Hi, yes i finally found out what was wrong. When apple tv goes through its auto setup. It chooses Australia for your location, & you enter your address, state etc. But even though apple 4k tv sets everything up for the Aus region, it does not give you Aus content.
Once I worked that out & changed the content setting kayo appeared.
Thanks for your input, i do appreciate it.
