Warranty Customer Service is Terrible
I have been dealing with Theo from warranty - who was great. However, it appears a week later she is too busy and Ive been pushed to a number of people. Perhaps there are a lot of issues with their systems! After a month of dealing with warranty service, I still have not had a call back to provide any update on when my broken system will be repaired. I have now resorted to calling up every day and have been told by a short and angry warranty person. I will get a call back, but I never receive one. I have explained that I have a new family and hot water is important - doesnt seem to matter for this company!

Very disappointed
I have purchased 5 Apricus hot water systems, and have had nothing but trouble with them. The tubes clogged up within the first two months, even tho the company told me they were suited to our water. We have had to run acid through them to clear the pipes which eventually rotted the tanks...tanks were replaced by the company only for the same thing to happen again. They are now being replaced with Solahart closed circuit systems.

I'm happy with my Apricus hot water
I'd like to thank the technical Apricus team from Melbourne Who fixed my Apricus hot water system when they came to W.A.They were extremely polite and efficient, and put me in touch with their W.A. rep. since been fixed my system has given me as much hot water as I need. Apricus is a fantastic product .It's obvious this product needs to be installed by an Apricus installer.

My 30 tube Apricus hot water system is boosted by a 90 litre gas bottle and I have had the same gas bottle which was installed with my Apricus hot water system for 2 years now! and it is still half full of gas! My Apricus is extremely cheap to run. I am very happy with it. Lucia January 5th 2022 Update: Apricus hot water system My 30 tube apricus hot water system works extremely efficiently in cloudy weather and even in winter. using the same 90 litre bottle of gas as a booster, we haven't had to buy another and we have had the system for 2 and a half years!! We have always found Apricus great to deal with and unlike some other brands out there, they are genuine when it comes to their after sales and warranty service! If you are choosing to go Solar for your next hot water system then be VERY careful of what you buy, we have helped so many people over the years that thought they'd save a quid and put in a cheap hot water system or have a good system installed cheaply then after only a few years they have had to repair or replace it - a good hot water system (installed by a specialist) should give you adequate hot water for 10 - 15 years without any trouble but always remember to have it installed by a reputable company that has a proven track record of this type of 'specialist' work and follow the Service guidlines by the manufacturer.1 comment

Good warranty service.
After reporting the problem, the service personell very promptly repaired the unit.
I am very impressed by the standards exhibited by both administration and technical services.

HWS excellent - service abysmal!
I had my system installed just over 2 years ago because I had used this brand at a previous house and found it excellent. I always had a good supply of hot water since installation, but did not realise that what I thought was the fuse switch in the fuse box, was actually the booster (not labelled as booster and no separate switch as in all previous solar systems). It was only when I turned that switch off when I went away for a few weeks, then when I got home, it was the middle of summer, so expected the water to be hot - not so - barely tepi...Read more

I contacted the installer - took an email and three phonecalls before I got any response - and no help at all apparently too far to come and have a look but not too far to take my money for the initial purchase and installation! After over 2 weeks, in desperation, I contacted my local plumber to have a look - he discovered that when installed, the temperature setting had not been changed from the factory setting of 31.4 degrees, so no (or extremely little) input from the solar component as it cut off when the water reached 31.4 degrees, thus needing to be further heated by the booster, even in the middle of summer on a hot day! Not happy at all the electricity I have wasted heating the water in my "solar" HWS. Also not happy that after paying all that money to purchase and install, no-one from the company that installed was willing to have a look to see why it wasn't working properly, even after I explained that I hadn't actually been any evidence of the water being heated by the sun, ever!1 comment

Apricus supply the systems to plumbing supplies stores and have no say in any installs at all - we would have certainly assisted in any issues under warranty if they were warrantable problems. From what you have said though this one definitely just looks like installer error which caused the loss of solar gain due to the thermostat set so low (factory setting is actually 60 degrees with the tempering valve set at 50 degrees by law). We have also now heard from you on Feb 2 and have sent some parts to you to upgrade your system under warranty to assist in more solar gain and I do hope that helps your HWS perform to its full potential. 6 times I've emailed these people with an inquiry about where I can purchase one of their systems. I get the automated response saying, 'Will contact you within 2 days', and then nothing. Even drove out to their place at 7 Hills, complained to the manager who said "Gee, that's odd. These are flicked to the sales and they should have got back to you."

Our only email received was on 12/1/18, and the response was on the 3rd business day from then which was on 18/1 asking for a contact number and the previous emails so we can followup. Unfortunately we received no phone number to discuss your enquiry. Our auto generated message does advise to call us for any assistance and your enquiry would have been answered in 30 seconds via phone. Also I do not recall you coming to Seven Hills as I would have spoken to you personally and advised the same answer quickly - we are the supplier to retailers so please visit a Reece, Tradelink or independent plumbing supplies store can they can assist you in selling one of our systems to you. Poor quality components with poor quality warranty
Our controller failed after 14 months of use, I rang Apricus and was advised that the controller only has a 1 year warranty period, Apricus refused to assist in any way. Our next door neighbour also has an Apricus Solar System and he said that his controller also failed within the same time frame. I can only assume that the components in the Apricus Solar Hot Water System are of poor quality as the warranty period would reflect.

As communicated in our warranty schedule, this part has a one year warranty and you are outside this timeframe. This particular part and the less expensive parts are manufactured by other companies and then supplied to us for our systems. We must adhere to the manufacturers warranty for these parts, as this is the only warranty we receive from them also. If this has happened before in your area, my suggestion is to place a surge protector on the controller and pump outlet - due to the recent storm activity along most of the east coast in the past month, there will be surges that can blow these small parts along with other items in your household. I am not sure if this is what may have happened but it is advise that I will give as it can happen and usually not addressed at time of installation by the home owner and plumber. Apricus do not stand by their warranty
My advice as a plumber, is do not buy apricus. I installed a system in my home and the tank failed within the 5 year warranty time. Apricus claim the anode should have been replaced within 3 years and used a warranty document written several years after my purchase, despite the warranty document supplied at time of purchase having no such clause (fine print). The agent I purchased the unit from approached Apricus on my behalf, with a similar rejection. My plumbing supplies manager approached the Apricus rep 3 months ago on my behalf and is still waiting for a response. My strong advice as a consumer and plumber is do not deal with a company like Apricus who do not honour their warranties. Go anywhere else!

Apricus evacuated tube
Apricus solar systems are brilliant. Solar hot water is to be installed correctly by correct solar accredited plumbers .
I have a system 7 years old and only turn my booster on after 2 days of cloud. My family use approximately 200ltr of hot water daily.
I have replaced one pump at a cost of $400.
My pump uses 50 watts running an average 8hrs a day
Cheap hot water even with a replacement.

Very disappointed.
We are very disappointed with our evacuated tube solar HWS...we have had so many problems with our system since it was installed-pump, tubes, valves-looks like we will have to replace our system at considerable expense to ourselves. We have had so many plumbers looking at our system with no outcome. There was a time a company stood by their own product if they trusted they had a good product, not Apricus though which does not give us much confidence. I suppose they are too busy blaming everyone else. Disappointing

We do find that this many issues with a new system is more than likely to do with installation, so it is also recommended to have the installing plumber to visit as they would be able to assist you. Apricus have no part in the installation process as we sell our products to third parties. Problem System
Evacuated tubes explode when being fitted into manifold...2 already...not trying anymore...obvious problem with the manifold...apparently not covered by warranty...cost a few thousand to purchase...looks like we have wasted our money. We have an incomplete system on our roof but according to Apricus we are not losing much by not having a complete system...not the point.

Terrible service
My mother is an elderly lady with an Apricus hot water solar system installed. We have been having issues with it on and off for 2 years, my mother called and asked to speak to someone about it. They told her that they are not plumbers and can't diagnose the problem over the phone. I called back and asked to speak to the manager who seems to be the gentleman commenting below on everyone else's reviews and I was told his comment was to email him as he couldn't take the call. There was a lot of laughing and carrying on in the background, no idea what kind of business they are running. My husband has decided to rip the whole system out and go with a solar hart system.

Should have got a solar hart
System is just over two years old, 12 months ago non return valve replaced under warranty. Today circulating pump not working, rang apricus, sorry only 2 years warranty on pump, 10 years on tank, 15 years on collector but 2 0n pump. I will let you all know what goes wrong next year.

Apricus use parts from many different suppliers and all suppliers have differing warranty periods. Our roof components have the best warranty period in the industry which is 15 years, but smaller less expensive parts are only 1-2 years and this is set by their manufacturers and outlined in our warranty documentation. Some time ago consultant Shane King assisted via the phone our plumber to repair our Therman heating unit. Whilst doing this he advised making several adjustments to the settings of the unit.
These changes have greatly improved the efficiency of our unit. There is consistent hot water regardless of overcast periods throughout the day .We always thought the unit was excellent but thanks to Shane it is even better.

Relentless Dedication to Great After Sales Service
I am very happy with our Apricus 30 system. It heats the water on days with power from the Sun very efficiently. We can leave the booster off for long periods of time.
We had a problem with a thermo syphoning situation which only became apparent in the colder weather. Even though the system was out of warranty Nick and his team relentlessly followed clues and gave great advice and help until the problem was solved.
I could not recommend the Apricus after sales service higher.

Excellent product & service
We have been very happy with the performance of the Apricus 30 in our new build. The rubber hits the road for any manufacturer when a problem occurs, this is what differentiates brands. We recently had 1 issue and Apricus service was a standout, staff were caring and service process was quick with Apricus checking up on progress and satisfaction as things progressed. I managed an ANZ service network for 40 years and it is pleasing to recognize a vendor, staff and service agent who all aim to provide top tier service.

Fast & helpful service
We live in eastern Victoria, with cold winter temperatures & frequent frosts. When winter set in, we found that the hot water in our newly built house was sometimes going luke-warm, sometimes by mid evening. Being an electrician, I suspected the circulation pump may be at fault, by the fact that it was showing as running, yet made no noise whatsoever & appeared to not be working.
I placed a warranty claim & was promptly contacted by Nick at Apricus. I was unable to talk with him on that day (Friday), but he made time to have me contact him ...Read more
next day on the Saturday. He was very friendly & explained to me that our unit may require some 'fine tuning' to be better suited to our colder climate. He guided me through the very user friendly Apricus control menu, & we changed various parameters that improved our solar gain throughout the day. It also proved that the circulation pump was in fact working, but was literally silent in its operation. He also advised me that the off peak boost temperature could be reduced from 70 to 60degC, which I did (obviously using less power), & still supply adequate hot water back-up overnight. It's been just under 5 weeks now since now since the changes were made, & the difference was noticeable that night. Our system has simply not missed a beat since, providing piping hot water any time (day or night) without any sign at all of running out & going cold as it had been. I have to say that I'm very impressed with Apricus so far, both in operation & customer service. Couldn't have asked for a better result.1 comment

Our initial installation was faulty; there wasn't any water flow through the roof pipes for the first week or more. This installation fault was corrected by the installer.
However, it became apparent that the tubes had been damaged by being left without water, and these were replaced under warranty without question. About three months later, one of the new tubes failed, just as we are about to depart town for a while.
Jessie was most helpful in organising a replacement tube and lining up an agent to fit it while we were away. On returning home, the new tube was there and all appears fine.

After freeing some calcification from the tempering value in order to restore pressure - which was successfully completed - water now runs from the over flow (PRTV) pipe. To save water and power, I have turned off the inlet tap and electricity to the tank - meaning there is no hot water. What can I do to return the system to proper operation, please? Thanks.

It is normal for the ECV, or if one isn’t installed, the PTRV,to dribble water each day as the water heats up and expands. The volume water can be anywhere from a few cups to as much as 10L depending on the system pressure and temperature rise. (for 50L heated, 1L can dribble). Solar hot water system may relief more pressure as the temperature can get much hotter than an electric boosted tank. Restore to normal operation by reversing your turn off actions.
Thank you for the reply, but as I wrote, "water runs from the...pipe", so much so that there is not enough pressure building in the tank to allow forceful water from house HW taps. I had a punt and replaced the PTRV. That has worked.
Before inserting the new valve I pulled up the handle and noticed that a mechanism within the valve was shifted. Doing the same to the old valve produced no effect.
I can only assume that the old PTRV had failed, and was in a continued "open" position which allowed water to constantly run out of the tank when the inlet tap was 'on' which created pressure within the tank.
I am not a plumber, so if my thought process if wrong, please respond so I can have my thinking straightened in case this incident repeats in the future. Thank you once again. Stay safe.

As we are the manufacturer, we have no control over the systems when they are sold and your area does not have good water quality - it would have been recommended to have water softeners installed or even tried a different system, as our systems will not perform well in areas of poor water quality if not installed properly. I have seen we replaced some roof components (manifolds) for you out of goodwill over a year ago, but as the water quality is so bad this was never covered under standard warranty but we did so to assist the best way we could. If you have any issues it would be best to contact the reseller as from a manufacturers point of view we cannot be liable for this I'm afraid.
