Julz C.asked
Does baby need to move onto stage 2 straight away at 6 month? How long can U use stage 1 for?
1 answer
Nutricia Careline T.Aptamil
Great question Julz. The stage 1 formula is a breast milk substitute, so suitable to provide the milk portion of babies diet through to 12 months and beyond, in the same way that breast milk is suitable. No milk will meet all of babies nutrition needs after 6 months and solid foods are needed to add energy and nutrition.
So... if baby is settled and doing well on stage 1 milk, there is no need to change to a stage 2 unless you are wanting to do this. Do please call or livechat us if you would like to talk this through (1800 438500 or www.nutriciacareline.com.au).

My 7 week old baby has been on Aptamil gold and I accidentally bought aptamil gold for colic and constipation. Will it be ok for him to have it?
2 answers
Should be fine; Main difference is there is a bit of a laxative and thickener added to this version, but I've used both interchangeably with my little one
Stuart S.Aptamil
That should be fine Emily. Aptamil Colic and constipation has special fats and a starch thickener as well as being 100% Whey and broken down. Cheers Sue Nutricia Careline.

My 7 weeks is restless and cried, si changed from S26 gold to aptamil gold plus for colic and constipation, vit still very unsettled . I went and got corams gripe water as chemist aaid to mix it up with milk and give it to her. My concern is as aptamil already has ingredients to help with colic giving corams together with milk will there be any issues. Chemist said no, but want to double check

Hi Nan, As your pharmacist has said it should be fine to use that with the formula. It has different ingredients from the formula to assist with colic. Cheers Sue Careline Nutritionist

my son is 4 months old and has been on aptimal gold since birth. He still gets runny mustard coloured poos. Is this normal? He leaks his nappies all the time. I hear alot about babys getting constipated on gold formula but this is the opposite.

Stuart S.Aptamil
Hi Lee, what you describe sounds very normal for a 4 month old. All babies are different and will react differently to different formulas and you can expect their bowel motions to be different as well. Please call us on the Careline AU 1800 438 500 or NZ 0800 438 500 and one of our dietitians or nutritionists will be able to discuss this further with you. Does stage 3 Aptamil gold plus contain more added sugar than stage 1? Is so why?

Allyasked
My baby has recently turned 6 months and I switched from stage 1 to stage 2 right away. She is VERY slowly starting solids but not taking to it very well. Since switching formulas she has had runny poops and several times a day. Also more gas than usual.
Previous to the switch she was a very regular pooper once or twice a day at about the same time every morning.
I am thinking to switch back to stage 1, is this the right option?
1 answer
Nutricia Careline T.Aptamil
Hi Ally, you can switch back to the stage 1 as it will still contain enough nutrition for 6 month old. Please call us at the Careline AU 1800 438 500 or NZ 0800 438 500 and one of our dietitians or nutritionist will be able to assist you further. Warm regards, Caroline - Careline Nutritionist
CELINA C.asked
I am wondering if anyone has the same problem as me. I find that the formula powder doesn't dissolve properly and there is usually curds and clumps in the bottle even though I swirl it both clock wise and anti-clockwise several times. There are times when I use even a teaspoon to make sure it is mixed properly but there are still small clumps. I am adding formula to cooled boiled water (kettle boiled water mixed with cooled boiled water - to about 70 degrees). I think it may be time to change formula. I contacted the Nutricia Careline and they have advised that they will take the tin back for testing however we already have gone through 2 tins with the exact same issue!

Try using just boiled water and then cool the bottle down under a cold tap. I never had that problem with this product. It just could be the water your using is to cold for the milk powder to dissolve.
I've had this issue and it's the water temp like tui Strickland had said and make sure U give it a good shake
Stuart S.Aptamil
Hi Celina, The formula mixes best in warm water - less than 40 degrees celcius. Swirl and rock the bottle and give it a shake as well and it should dissolve. If it doesn't then please contact us at the Careline.

How long milk should keep after mix ?
2 answers
Any formula should be discarded after 1 hour.

Hi Supriya, once you have made up formula, you can keep it at room temperature for 1 hour. After that you will need to throw away any leftover formula. If you need more help, you can call us on the Careline on 1800 438 500. Kind regards, Hilary

Talishia T.asked
Is it normal to have gelatine looking bits all through it? I was using sma but switched to this because of colic and constipation and it’s got gelatine looking bits through it?
1 answer
Stuart S.Aptamil
Hi Talishia, It sounds like you have bought the Aptamil Colic and Constipation. This formula can have a grainy look to it and looks like it has bits through it and is also a little thicker than our standard formulas. If you have bought the Aptamil Colic and Constipation then that is quite a normal appearance, but if you have bought the standard Aptamil Gold + formula then it should just look like milk and not have gelatine bits though it. Please call us on the Careline AU 1800 438 500 or NZ 0800 438 500 and one of our product specialists can discuss this further with you. Warm regards, Caroline - Careline Nutritionist
Saraasked
Hi there
My 9 wks baby is constipated. Can I use aptamil colic and constipation. Will my baby still get enough nutrients. Also recommended dose is 120 mls for 1-2 months and 150 mls for 3-4 needs. My bub is 9 wks, should I give him 120 or 150mls?
1 answer
Hi Sara. Yes the Aptamil Colic & Constipation is a complete feed for a baby under 6 months, so baby will get all the nutrients he needs when fed in sufficient volume. Babies are best fed to appetite and the feeding guide is not prescriptive, so give the same serve that you were giving with the previous milk (until baby is not satisfied and settling after a feed).
If you would like to talk through this change of milk, do please give us a call (1800 438500) or livechat us (www.nutriciacareline.com.au) at the Careline so that we can support you and your little one.

Hi my daughter is on Aptamil colic and constipation mix, but I would like to wean her off it because her poos are quite runny all the time. How do I slowly wean her off and which formula should I switch it to?
2 answers
I had the same problem, you may try goat formulas that I switched too.
Stuart S.Aptamil
Hi Anna, it is not unusual for bowel motions to go runny on the Aptamil Colic and Constipation. If everything else is going well, you may not need to change formula. Please call us on the Careline AU 0800 438 500 or NZ 1800 438 500 and one of our nutritionist or dietitians will be able to assist you. Regards, Caroline - Careline Nutritionist

Hi my child is over 1 year old and I start Aptamil 3 for her but she get diarrhea and dr said stop that and continue with Aptamil 2. It’s more than 2 weeks her diarrhea is not getting better. I’m so confused what to do and what shall I give to her. Please help me
1 answer
Stuart S.Aptamil
Hi Mary, the stage 3 Aptamil Gold + has higher levels of prebiotics ( for bowel health ) and also has a higher proportion of casein to whey ( amongst other differences). Some babies are particularly sensitive to this and some have digestive changes which should settle after a week or two. Please call us on our Careline 1800 438 500 if your baby is still unsettled so we can help. Kind regards, Hilary Reg.Nutritionist
