Never Again
I have had multiple problems with my heater since day one (Series FSP 600 LPG): blown out fuse, faulty on/off switch, front burner does not ignite, faulty thermostat, faulty mother board, glass on front of heater shattered and the back burner blows itself out when the heater is on "high heat" mode. A technician was sent to fix each fault as it occurred, however the heater still blows out in "high heat" mode requiring a manual reset every time. I do not recommend this brand and will never purchase another Archer product again.
You are correct having no record of a model 900 being sold into Victor Harbor as stated in your comment below. I purchased an FSP 600 LPG model as stated in my amended comment.

Remote complex and not consistent
Disappointed with this model. It does not talk to the remote very well and makes constant beeping noises. This is it looking for the remote which was housed some 3m away. Gave up on remote as back logs were not coming on. Turn it on and off at wall now. Over engineered. Wall solution means it comes on when we need it, no beeping and both sets of logs come on. When it all works it is very good.

emote is manufactured by Skytech in USA and we have thousands out in the field all working fine, the way you describe your operation of turning it off and on at the wall is not a good way to operate the heater and in the future may cause damage to the appliance,the remote should be simple enough to operate as it only has 3 settings on,thermo mode and off,it sounds like you may have a communication problem with the receiver and the signal is being lost,there are other ways to by pass the remote to operate the heater manually or would be great if you could give us a call and give us the opportunity to resolve the issue,we can organise a representative to come out and look at your remote or swap it over and personally show you how to operate it and how to relearn if necessary our phone numbers are 1300 388 953 (03) 9795 8895 We look forward to hearing from you and resolving your remote issue hope this has been of some assistance to you best regards from Tech Support at Aurora climate systems.Aurora A.Aurora

Amazing heat and love the horizontal flue
Have enjoyed the amazing heat from our freestanding Aurora Series 7 gas heater for more than a year and through two winters. We have a large combined open living, dining and kitchen living space (over 40sqm) for which an electric split air-conditioning system was insufficient. After purchasing our Aurora gas log fire from Dandenong factory we have had our Aurora gas log fire for 10 years now and it has given us NO TROUBLE just remember to vacuum the lint and dust from the fan and air intake and it performs most efficiently and keeps our large area nice and warm.

Getting old need repair
Good fire but need a good gas tech to solve problems not many techs will have a go at these heaters this has been a good heater but has had several problems recently this maybe time for a new heater expensive heater but they are extremely efficient and will heat large areas .

Great customer Service
We purchased our Archer gas heater two and half years ago, does a great job.
Had a minor problem 2 weeks ago, front burner wouldn't light, rang Aurora, they organised for someone to come out within the week, replaced faulty part. Heater working beautifully again.
Very impressed with their customer service.

Loud fan, 5 star lemon, no ambience
Bought IS900 annoying loud fan. Fan was stuck on medium. No ambience, only front burners going, no logs lit up. Great heat that's it. Manufactures customer service is bad and the woman is so rude. Getting a service agent took months, still the same, hope you go away. Bad experience.

Effective as required heats a big space
The Archer gas log fire was purchased to heat a large room in a coastal property. The fire is highly effective and pushes out a lot of heat controlled by the remote thermostat. It does look old fashioned with the fake pine logs but heats as required. We did have a problem with it not starting but found this was due to the inlet air fan sticking, not surprising as it is drawing in salty air with fine sand close to the beach. We pushed the fan with a long brush and got it moving and all worked again, this has happened twice so far. No complaints, it works as well as can be expected. We like the humidity control feature where it adds water back into the air to balance relative humidity.

A heater that looks great and actually warms my house backed by a great company
I'm the proud owner of a S900 gas log heater by Archer. Brilliant heater. Does what it's supposed to do very well and very efficiently. Fantastic after sales service as well. Highly recommend. Recently had a problem with a fan that became noisy a little after warranty expired and Archer was happy to fix the problem at no expense to me. Great company to deal with

Finally found someone who really knows how to service it
5 Stars for the service man & 5 Stars for the actual heater now that it works as intended
0 Stars for Archer - customer service in NSW was non existant
- I've had this heater for nearly 10 years - it worked for nearly 3 when remote died
- then (in manual mode) the back burner started shorting out
This year I finally found a gas plumber who is not just an expert on them - he actually owns one himself
- He found the short then serviced the heater & adjusted the flame etc in under 15 minutes
+ I now have a Skytech 5301P remote (the original Skytech 3301P was rubbish)
I'm surprised how good the heater really is - it never ever worked anywhere near this good when 1st installed

Great Service Great Heater
I purchased the heater based on the heater information on website and the reviews. I have only just purchased the heater and had a small noise issue and they came out and fixed it without any problem. This heater so far is doing everything I read it would do and given that I have extremely high ceilings I was worried it wouldn't heat up the house but it does. Very happy customer.

IS900 Update
NOT So Frustrated anymore!!
The CEO of Archer heaters has been extremely helpful, with this issue. He has personally been here to my home from Victoria, (a fortnight ago). He is quite shocked that this has happened, as it hasn’t happened before in thirty years of making heaters.
Investigations are underway to determine the cause, which are still undeterminable at this stage.

Couldn't find a better heater
I have had my Archer Log Fire for about 12 years now and It is the best heater I ever had, I have a large lounge room and always heated the room up so quickly. Had a few issues over the years and have called the company which is in Australia! and they sent a technician out straight away. I thought it was time for an upgrade and I just ordered 2nd Archer heater today which is a new design in stainless steel, crushed glass and a single burner with a remote. So Excited!!!

Looks pretty and very cosy!
Brought my heater for last winter, turned it on again the other day and am still so happy with it, I keep it in my entertaining rooms and it adds a lot of character and looks really nice, only really use on low to medium setting as it produces so much heat. Can't complain at all!

The fire great when working.
Why is it impossible to get any plumber/gas fitter to even look at my old Archer fire. It has decided to switch off now that the colder weather is here but mention the brand and the response is "don't know anything about them love" sorry. At this stage it looks like warming up with electricity!!

No high flame
We.buoght our archer in 2006 . It worked fine for 2 years,after that it only worked on the low setting.I think $300 is exorbitant for a service.We also have reverse cycle air con which we use in conjunction with the gas fire by using the aircon to heat up and the archer to maintain the heat.

No Back Up Service. Very Rude On Phone!!
Had new fire installed by Hallam in January, it was very very noisy and loud bang every time it went off! Enough to make you jump and scald your self if having a hot drink!! Rang twice very rude man I insisted they send someone out, he said ok twice. Over week he never came, someone stayed in non-stop for two months no one came! Rang again, same aggressive person not interested in our problems. Otherwise fire very good for heat but very bad noise from fan. Can't hear TV!

About 12 months ago our Archer Gas Log Fire started emitting a white powdery substance over the furniture and floor. We have had a service man from our local distributor out here on several occasions trying to rectify the problem - to no avail. The last such visit was about 2 weeks ago - when he told us that he "didn't know what was causing it or how to fix it"! He sent an email to Aurora with our email attached - within days we were contacted by the National Manager who got straight onto the matter and last Friday a Technician came to Paynesville from Melbourne - he was here over 2 hours cleaning the inside of the heater. It seems that the heater hadn't been properly cleaned during the annual services! I'm interested in your 1200 series fires, but no dealer within 100k seems to have one I could see. I've had 2 Archers and no complaints. If you want to be warmed by a gas heater, I'd say get an Archer. But if you can't see one, that's a problem. Why does Archer not appoint more dealers?

There is a lead time associated with choosing a fire, designing the wall space, getting quotes and building in and installing a gas log fire of the nature we are talking about. By April, in Canberra at least, you are looking for a bit of warmth at night. Xmas to April is really the only time your house doesn't need it on hand. In the interests of selling,
you should have your stuff in front of potential customers all the time. Archer is in my view a good product, unique in the Australian market. If it's outsold by others, and I think it probably is, it's due in part to a pretty relaxed attitude about marketing at HQ. Best wishes, Phil M

I have an Archer Gas Log Fire heater (Model FS100) that was installed about ten years ago. It had been working well without any problem until recently. The problem seems to be that the fan sitting inside the heater does not work. As the body of the heater gets hot very quickly without the fan working, the heater shuts off and would not be turned back on until the body is cooled. Any suggestion or information about a repairer for the problem would be much appreciated. Thank you. David (P.S. The locality is Pymble NSW.)

Hello David if your convection fan is not running you may need a new thermistor or motor run capacitor or the fan motor itself may need to be replaced, a technician should be able to check this out for you with the use of a multimeter, also it would be good if the Tech has the parts on him so he only needs to make one trip a tech for you that has knowledge of the Archers is Phil Phelan from Hows your plumbing Ph 0412 012 789 he's based in Sydney N.S.W for other areas and advice please call Aurora on 1300 388 953 Thank you ................
