My Archer heater was installed last week, just absolutely brilliant. It heats my whole place, love it. I live in Sydney and the salespeople who not only sold me the heater but they also arranged to have their own plumbers install it for me were Fantastic. After the plumbers installed it they also showed me how to use the heater to its most effectiveness they also explained how the remote control works, there are 3 functions on the remote control. Its a shame how some of you have had bad experiences with this brilliant, efficient and remarkable product. I purchased the product cause of its 5.7star rating, there is no other heater on the market as efficient as the Archer Gas log fire.
Reliable, energy efficient
We have had one for 5 years - we have a huge living room with a lot of glass and it does a great job. We have had it repaired once and living in Bendigo easily found a local guy who was the agent - we rang Aurora and they recommended him. Repair was a thermostat
reliable and great heat - its not dry heat as it recondenses the moisture
I have only had the person that Aurora Climate Systems uses as their local agent to do my repairs. He agrees my heater has not performed as it should.
Stay away from this rubbish. Worst purchase of our lives. Service manager rude, arrogant and could not care about the problems with our heater. Noisy,worthless peace of crap.

I loved with this heater for five years. When it worked it did a good job heating my home, and looked good with the log fire appearance. Unfortunately it was never reliable. And trying to get it serviced in Tasmania was difficult as gas has not been much used. Ongoing difficulties meant I eventually made a claim to the seller under consumer law rights. It was eventually made functional again, but I always had a fear it would break down. After five years I installed electric heating.

I brought my house with an existing Archer Heater. The previous owners brought it in 2006 and it had been running ok. It's extremely warm and heats up the house really quickly.
However, it turns itself off all the time, and I have had to get it repaired twice. Both times it has been the same part. The first time it was only 3 years old, it stopped working completely and it cost me $600 to repair. The second time was the same problem.

Read morey gas repairer couldn't find anywhere that sold the parts. I rang Archer and asked them for some help in finding someone to fix it. I live in rural Victoria and they only had people in Melb. So I've been sitting in a cold house for 2 weeks! It's disappointing because when it's running its great. However, I will most likely just replace this heater with something else because of the trouble I've had. I would not recommend buying this heater again. energy efficient Very hard to find someone to fix it. Have had to get it fixed twice. The burners keep turning themselves off.you should contact the manufacturer and get someone who knows what they are doing. Mine hasn't missed a beat for 3 years and has only had 1 service.
I contacted the company when the burners kept turning themselves off, they said they couldn't do anything for me just get the repair man back and hand over more cash.
I brought a house with an Archer Gas Log Fire system installed. If I had of known the drams I would have I would have simply brought another house.
Mine has broken down a couple of times and been fixed, BUT, we are still trying to get it fixed from the last time it cracked the sh*ts and died, that was neary three yrs ago.
Now that I have finally found someone who will actually work on it until it's going, the repair dude I was using previously had removed a part that now seems to be lost. On top of this it is a part that Aurora do not stock or sell.
Like I said, ONGOING SAGA.

The arrogant people that answer the phone in Melbourne are the rudest people I have come across in my life. we have had parts mailed to us to try and repair ourselves and if that doesnt work it takes at least a month to get the 1 technician that is in NSW to have a look at it. I could go on for hours but I wont bore you. Just do not buy one its not worth the grief or the money.

However, it has never been used for a whole winter without me having to place a service call for it, and dish out many more dollars. It stops on its own and then starts when it feels like it at the moment, last time it was a coil, time before was a fan, time before that was something electrical, now that is four years back, and we have had it 8 years, and it has been a total nightmare the entire time (we dread winter now). I would recommend that no one ever buy one, I have told many not to bother (unless you want to spend an extra $500 - $1000 a year on fixing it) that makes the energy rating seem worthless doesn't it. now the retailer we purchased it from was Turlands Plumbing in Warrnambool. they were useless and had no customer service, so don't go there. Arrived and came out of the box scratched and with a bad photo copied manual.
It then had intermittent faults from the start. Wouldn't turn on if it was windy (seriously), would turn itself off etc Had to take a video to prove the faults existed.
Spent months trying to have it fixed under warranty and was lucky that the retailer finally offered to replace it with a different brand.

Just installed my Archer. Looks good. Awesome heat.
My only gripe: that extremely rude woman in the Aurora Climate Systems office.
She is a blight on the company. Even their preferred gas fitters don't talk to her.
Anyway, I digress, the heater is setup with the touch screen remote and as it was so cold last night (1.7), I left it running all night. Great to wake up to a warm house (2 storey, 20 squares).

Ok when it works and good heat output but it breaks down every cold season and the service agent is rude and useless not to mention it takes 2-3 weeks for him to turn up - handy when it's -5 degrees! He thinks it's ok to have spent nearly the original cost of the heater to keep it running over the last 5 years. Must have just about replaced everything in it. Contacted Aurora to complain and they're just as bad - they've trained the service guy well! Do not even consider buying one of these heaters you will be so disappointed. Had to give one star for this review to submit but really would not give any stars at all.

The heater has never worked properly. It always turns itself off which may be why they can claim it is energy efficient - it never works which is why it doesn't use much gas. We bought the heater from Barbeque Bazaar in Perth and when we rang to complain about the heater they refused to deal with us and directed us to Aurora in Melbourne. Aurora in turn have been nothing but trouble to deal with and won't fix or replace the heater. When dealing with both companies they have both just hung up on us after we have said nothing more than just our name when calling them. Do not buy this heater and do not buy anything from Barbeque Bazaar in Perth or Aurora in Melbourne.

The tech guy said it is the flexible metal tube in the back and needs to be manipulated as there are aluminium diffusers inside it and they sometimes vibrate. My installer came back AGAIN flexed this pipe and it makes no difference, it is the way the flue fan is mounted.

We have had Regency (awful, flacid, no heat) and Rinnai (nice flame, not very powerful, expensive to run.) Archer stands out.
Super efficient, cheap to run, reliable, easy to use. Lots of heat, No dry air in room.

Love this . The programmable thermostat is fantastic . Gives off so much heat we keep it on low yet warms the whole house (I have a large house ! )
Have had no trouuble with the fireplace itself or the service people . Best money we ever spent . We are in cold, cold Canberra and so we have not even turned it off in the last few months and have found it so much more economical to run than our old Rinnai.
Would highly recomend it

This has been a very unsuccessful purchase. It broke down just out of warranty. We were told that there was one technician in NSW who could fix it. This was bad enough, but it got worse because the bloke who came to fix it couldn't fix it ( and was a rude git into the bargain). So there is noone in the state able to fix it. We pulled it to bits and discovered that one if it's "official" parts was a piece of knock-off tupperware-esque box. Got a part from the Melbourne supplier (twice) and fixed it ourselves. It limps along but it's a PITA. ...

The orange light comes on all the time and needs to be pressed a couple times before it will goHI COMMON problem. Had a gut full of mine. Have decided to replace it instead of repairing it again. After reading the reviews here of the gas log fire heaters, it appears that ignition related problems are quite common amongst this type of heaters. I was choosing between a Cannon and Coonara but I'm not sure I want to go through another ordeal.

We've had ignition problems, computer problems and have had to replace a number of component parts. For the money it should give years of reliable service but I wouldn't wish one of these on my worst enemy. We find it nigh on impossible to find anyone to service it now, and have just about spent the original purchase price in expensive repairs. The manufacturer aviods all responsibility for it's dodgey product and should somehow be called to account. Definitely do not by an Archer heater. Had to give it one star to submit review - wouldn't have given it one otherwise.

There's no better feeling than when you're sitting inside warm and snug and it's rainy and cold outside.
Plenty of heat. High efficiency. The fire looks good. Although I had a problem at first it was quickly fixed.
A bit expensive. Had a battery inside the heater that was flat. Fan a bit noisy. Archer are useless if you have problems but Perth dealers (Barbecue Bazaar) pretty good.
We have had ours for 10 years and have had nothing but trouble, year after year. Aurora people in Melbourne are abrasive to deal with and need to work on their customer service. Looks okay and gives out plenty of heat when it works. It may be cheap to run but the repair bills make it a VERY expensive and unreliable heating system.
Wow that's scary...Maybe the problems are related to the older models.
Does anyone know if the newer ones in the last say 1-4yrs are much more reliable?
My 2010 model has needed 5 repairs while it used 5 cylinders of gas. 2 of those repairs was replacement of noisy flue fan.

Technician says it is normal for a high ouput heater to have a noisy fan but a friend has a similar unit which is much quieter. Thinking of changing to a different brand so we can hear the TV in the same room.

Flue fan makes a loud buzzing noise. Humidifier doesn't appear to work.
