Perfect Car
Never had a problem with this car. Been an absolute dream to drive. Cheap on petrol. I service it every 5000ks. Just clicked over 200,000ks and still running strong. Great car to own.
Purchased in January 2021 for $12,000.00.

If you love a squeaky steering wheel then go for A4
Audi A4 has an operational issue (according to unhelpful Audi Customer care) that you are going to hate and that is it is the Squeaky steering wheel. After taking to authorised repair centre finally Audi Australia came up with NO FIX. According to Audi it is perfectly safe to drive even if you get distracted with this constant noise- great answer. Be careful while buying this model.
In addition, with my car the coolant started leaking at 55K and fuel flap became noisey. These are easily fixable but may cost you fortune if your car has run out of warranty.
Purchased in July 2021.

Worst car i have ever owned a total nightmare
My audi a4 has been a total nightmare the engine has blown up the dsg gearbox failed and Audi have been totally unhelpful. I have been put off ever buying a German car again. Audi's aim is to deny known defects and make the customer's life as difficult as possible when trying to resolve an issue with their cars

Great car, horrendous service costs as car life goes on ...
I fancy myself a bit of a car nut, so I was pretty happy for the first two years of ownership of my second hand 2010 Audi A4 B8 1.8TFSI. It drives well, it's extremely comfortable, the tech in it rivals new cars despite its age, and it just looks like a beautiful car.
My main gripe has been service costs. At just under 10 years old, and shy of 150,000km, the Transmission Control Module died which warranted a $4300 repair. I was not happy but understood it's a second hand Euro car so that costs are expected ...
The main gripe I have is tha...Read more
t after the independent mechanic ordered the part from Audi, at no stage did Audi inform him that the car would need to be sent to Audi for coding. Independent mechanics can no longer code TCM's themselves. So Audi decided to hit me up for 4 hours labour for practically nothing. As much as I love the car and the way it drives/handles, I would say beware when buying a second hand Audi. Yes you get the car at a discount, but Audi will make you pay in parts and maintenance costs ...Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great when still under Wty
We loved the car for the first 4 years then everthing started to go wrong, Igintion coils,Pcv,hood lining dropped, front wheel bearings, water pump steering shudder and the dreadfull CVT died
To make matters worse most of these repairs have been recalled in other countries but the arrogant Audi Aust claim they haven't heard of the problems .Tried to trade it in but after spending nearly $50.000 they give you 15.000
Went to Mercedes they sell you a car but wont touch Audis as trades.
Buy one but get rid of it BEFORE the WTY is up

Great car
Best car ever had without any problems. Very durable and reliable. The acceleration is not as good as BMW in the same engine range as BMW has valvetronic system which also can damage their engines. Drive smooth and nothing to be worried of. Definitely recommend if you can get a good price with a good gearbox.

My car was all I had :)
Bought the 2.0 turbo diesel model 1 year ago. Driving it is very comfortable. With the leather seat covers, they provide less heats in car space. The back seats have good space for passengers that I received few good compliments from several Uber rides. The only shame is it lack of bluetooth media audio, had to buy an adaptor to bypass this ‘fault’.

Smooth, comfortable and reliable
German cars are 'my thing': being a long-term BMW driver, I decided to give Audi a try.....What a difference ! Great breaks, the engine is silent and the fuel efficiency cannot be ignored. I like the seats and the ergonomics: the buttons on the side of the seat make everything so user-friendly. other functionalities on the steering wheel allow the driver to safely manoeuver the car and use the multimedia system simultaneously. Love my car !

Great experience
Have had the A4 2.7TDI since new and it has been a really good car. The 2.7 diesel is a terrific engine and did not get caught in the cheat software scandal. Plenty of power in reserve that comes in handy on the open road. I think the current 3.0litre is essentially the same with extra volume and power. Very comfortable for long trips. Overall it has been very reliable, with just a couple of hiccups (1) with the catalytic converter (which failed about a month after the warranty expired, but I managed to negotiate successfully with Audi Aus...Read more
tralia to replace it), and (2) very annoying and expensive failure of the GPS (including $250 to paint the shark fin the car colour!). Other than that, each annual service tends to cost a bit for fixing normal wear and tear (engine mounts, glow plugs, steering arm bushes etc). There was a noticeable increased responsiveness, and reduction in fuel consumption around 50,000k. I hear this is a common experience with diesels. Had done 115,000km until we bought a VW Touareg SUV recently. It still looks and drives like a $70k car, but was almost worthless as a trade-in, so now our son is enjoying it.Similar opinion? Nice to drive, terrible car
Had nothing but problems. Central locking failed, transmission mechatronics failed, and finally the engine failed at 105k km's.. Audi servicing I experienced was expensive, arrogant and ignorant. I loved driving this car and it looks great but that's as much as I can say that's positive. If you buy an Audi, get rid of it before the warranty is up is my advice..

Amazing car love it.
So different to drive than a commodore. All parts of this car make it beautiful. The leather, the performance, the handling. Very nice to drive and low fuel consumption but not as low as advertised. Will always stick to European cars from now on. Wish it had fold in mirrors to protect when parked.

Oil consumption and mismatched gearbox
Like many others, my car suffered from heavy oil consumption. I disliked the geabox, the CVT never matched the turbo engine from takeoff. Rolled badly in uphill starts. Had smooth ride and great fuel consumption (if you can believe the VW/Audi gauge). I switched to Mercedes which has vastly better quality. I won't buy another Audi, despite owning four of them in the past.

Its an ok car!
It's comfortable, driving is nice but not comparable to a BMW 3 Series so if you're coming from a BMW, might be worth going back to BMW. At 1.5 year old the car has already let me down when it started leaking oil and coolant left me on the side of the road on the way to work and had to get towed. There has been no major problems since but i don't have the confidence now to take the car away on super long trips. Who knows may be it was a one time thing, there are plenty of happy owners out there. Time will tell if I'll ever buy another Audi but for now I've gotta say its a NO.

Audi A4 2009 Excessive Oil usage and gearbox unreliable
I have had all the problems that are talked about in these posts. The excessive oil fault cost me $6000 to fix as I had missed a service and Audi say that mixed service may have caused damage, although there were 1,000s of the same model recalled in the US for this problem. I had complained about excessive oil consumption for years and I had been told that it was "normal" for Audi to use a lot of oil as Audi's have a lot of moving parts. I am not sure what kind of car doesn't lots of moving parts. Finally they agreed to to the oil test and ...Read more
said it was normal. 3 weeks later the oil light was on again, and I insisted they do the oil test again which it failed. I have been lied to so many times by Audi, they I would trust anything they say. I have also complained about the jerking into 1st gear and erratic behaviour of the gearbox. Sometimes it wants to go, sometimes it doesn't. It is like playing Russian roulette when pulling into traffic. Again, I was told by an Audi technician it was normal for Audi and that "these cars are not meant to take off quickly". It is due for another service and again I will ask if they can do anything, but I am sure nothing will be done. If anyone asks me about my car, I ward them off buying an Audi, as they build crappy cars, but claim to build luxury cars. They definitely don't stand behind their name "Audi" - they lie and cover up their design faults to save the company money.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Same issues but Audi Aus now coming to the party
I owned a b7 1.8 normally aspirated before this. It was a beautiful car to drive. Great dynamics and road feel. Engine was nice but weak as anything and the constantly sluggish transmission made it much worse. Always said to myself if I bought another it would be a turbo and preferably a manual. Another constantly sluggish (sorry variable) turned up at the right price and I read about the oil issue and asked the owner who said they had not experienced the issue. bought the car and then oddly it started using a litre of oil per about 400km.

Shaky start to love affair
Bought my A4 Avant 2.0L new in 2010 based on quality, practicality, performance and looks.
Within a few months, the excessive oil consumption issue arose. Audi explained likely problem and ran their required processes, resulting in new engine from Germany; no cost to me; other than time and anxiety.
That was 6 years ago and has run like a dream since. Love it.

Delay in gearbox transmission causing jumping, wheel spin when does engage
Audi avant 1.8 fsi- from new, always had delay. Took into garage after a year and explained problem and Audi said they couldn't find it and never heard of it. Took it back in three times before warranty ran out, and made sure they logged complaint on records. One time they re set gearbox and that improved problem dramatically, but after 10 weeks was back to usual problem. Took it back again, said they reset gearbox, kept car for 2 days to test drive, again said nothing wrong. This time no improvement with reset. Car also guzzles oil, in between...Read more
services I have to top it up, which I have never had in my life and owned over 12 different cars. The problem is very dangerous, particularly when pulling out at roundabouts and junctions. You have no idea when the car will move so it's always a gamble. Have also noticed car rolling back when on hill - very scary as nothing you can do until car decides to engage. Have asked garage if known problem, both Benfield Audi in Newcastle and the new garage that bought them Lookers - both claim to have never heard of the problem. Big cover up going on here no idea what to do.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Poorly designed engined. Audi Australia won't take responsibility
Exterior: nice, elegant design
Interior: best in class.
Transmission: the CVT transmission is an acquired taste. After a few months I came to like it, but I understand that "car enthusiasts" dislike it with a passion.
Engine: herein lies the problem. 1.8T and 2.0 petrol Audi engines built between 2009 and 2011 have a known design issue which leads to excessive oil consumption. This has lead to a class action in the US, which Audi settled. Audi has agreed to repair the engines, refund oil expenses, and double the warranty period from 4 ...Read more
to 8 years. Unfortunately Audi Australia does not recognize the fault. Really regret having purchased this car. If you are considering an Audi (in Australia), don't google "oil consumption Audi" and read many stories of costumers being pushed around without having the problem fixed; it will ruin your day.Similar opinion? Great but 2.0l tfsi terrible reliability
This 2.0l tfsi petrol engine will need a rebuild, the pistons were designed wrong an as a result they use huge amounts of oil, only fix is full rebuild, mine needed one after 150000 ks they all have this issue until the 2012 model came out, in America they were recalled an rebuilt, not in Australia.

Audi Australia have been paying for a proportion of the cost to rebuild these engines, contact Audi Australia directly before getting the work done and they may help out, they are reluctant though.
