Hi, we had a very negative experience with Ausclimate people a few years ago, and was wondering so that we don't have to purchase from you again, if you could suggest another supplier?
Please let me know what other suppliers have this product russell or alan? I'm sure you'll get the profits, but since NDIS are supporting the payment, I need to purchase from trustworthy carriers.

RAW

RAWasked

When set to "auto" mode my Zero+ spontaneously reverts to "sleep auto" mode if ambient light is low - such as for watching evening TV.
My Winix AUS-9500 has no such problem.
I am then compelled to select a set fan speed with the front light remaining blue (regardless of the speed I select) giving me no indication of the actual fan speed, and no automatic change in fan speed to mirror changing air quality.
Q1. Is there a fix?
Q2. Do I have a defective unit?

I do not understand your problem. I found that Ausclimate were more than helpful when I contacted them. I suggest you do that online at https://www.ausclimate.com.au/

Thanks for responding DerekH.
To simplify: when "auto" mode is selected and I dim the lights the Zero+ goes into an ineffective "sleep" mode, even though I haven't selected sleep mode. There are times when I would like to dim my lights without having the Zero+ fall asleep.
There is nothing in the manual to suggest such a mode even exists. According to the manual "auto" mode only cycles the fan speed (low, medium, high & turbo) in response to changes in air pollution levels.

Allan B.Winix

Hi Raw
The new range of Winix Zero air purifiers have light sensors.
What this means is when set on 'auto' they will go into sleep mode at night. This feature is designed to ensure whisper quiet operation while sleeping so there will be no fan speed fluctuations that may disturb your sleep.
If the air purifier is set on 'auto', operating 24/7 in the same room then the fan speeds adjust accoringly during the daytime to maintain clean air. Therefore, because the air is already clean, you don't have to have the fans fluctuating on to higher speeds at night.
If used in really poor air quailty situations at night, like what we are experiencing with the smoke from the terrible bush fires then I would consider operating the air purifier's fan speed manually at night, possibley set on 'medium'. The higher the fan speed, the faster the air is filtered.
I hope I have explained this well.

If you would like further clarity, please don't hesitate to call Ausclimate on 1800 122100

P.S the Winix AUS-9500 did not have this feature.

Is it best to keep doors and windows closed when switched on? I have it running in my living room but like to keep sliding door open for air. The door does have a security mesh screen so not direct air.

We keep outside doors and windows closed. But occasionally leave a door to the hall open but usually closed. Obviously there is a limit to the volume of air it can maintain as clean.

Best to keep them shut for maximum effectiveness. If there's no smoke or air is otherwise good outside, we don't need to have the filter on (unless someone is having a pollen or other allergy problem). Before the smoke was here we generally only used ours at night or when cooking etc.

What are the differences between winix 4 and 5?

1 answer
Winix
Allan B.Winix

Hi En L
If you are referring to the Winix Zero models then one of the main differances is their recommended room sizes.
The Zero 4 is for room sizes up tp 38sqm and the Zero+ Pro 5 is up to a tick under 50sqm.
Also the Zero+ Pro 5 has an extra set of filters which is the Pet filters. These are ideal for trapping cat or dog hair or even trapping large particles like fluff, dust etc. It's purpose is to prolong the life expectancy of other filters such as the HEPA.
Both models also have the PlasmaWave function which is great for neutralising smoke, bacteria and viruses such as the common flu virus however the Zero+ Pro has one more benifit, the PlasmaWave can neutralise harmful pet viruses.
If you have any further questions you can either find out much more on our Ausclimate website or call us direct on 1800 122100

Can someone explain the colour codes? What is the difference between the blue and green colour lights on the machine when operating?

Air quality is indicated best to worst Blue green yellow red. When initially turned on the machine cycles through the colours until a reading is taken and then it settles on one colour unless there is a change in air quality. It is quite sensitive to change.

Ahh ok! I just bought this machine and the manual didn't explain the colours. Didn't realise blue was best. Mine only gets to green...

I am looking for a safe air purifier for kids bedroom, does the plasmawave function of this model emits ozone? If so, which other models do not emit ozone please?

Hi Cas. I have no idea... great question though

Winix
Allan B.Winix

Hi Cas
Short answer, no. It is safe to use in kids bedrooms.
To explain in more detail, the PlasmaWave technology creates negative and positive ions that combine with water vapour to form Hydroxyls that neutralise harmful viruses, bacteria and other airborne pollutants.
Unlike Ionisers, the Winix PlasmaWave does not produce ozone or to be precise the amount is so small it is virtually immeasurable.
In tests carried out by an independent laboratory, PlasmaWave produced only 3 ppb which is substantially lower than the allowable level of 50ppb as set by the USA's FDA
There is also an excellent video on our website explaining how PlasmaWave works.
And one more thing, you can turn the PlasmaWave function off if you desire.
If you are unsure or have any further questions please dont hesitate to call Ausclimate direct on 1800 122 100

Do you have to close the windows to use the product ?

Allan B.Winix

Hi Vicky
While its always best to have your windows and doors closed for optimum efficiency it won't hurt to have it open if needed.
We use ours with the window open from time to time in the bedroom and it still works fine for us.
Just keep in mind what you are trying to filter i.e. is it pollen or dust from outside or is it something from within your home.

I was just wondering why this being the most expensive version doesn’t seem to have a digital display? Or does it? Apologies if I have missed it but would be good to know! Cheers

Hello Shi,
No the purifier does not have a digital display.
On the top it features the Power Button, Check Filter Light, Mode Button, Plasmawave on/off button, Timer and Child Lock Buttons.
All the Buttons other than the on/off Buttons have an illuminated meaning above them. And the Filter light will illuminate when required to change the filter.
The front of the unit has a led light bar that illuminates Green, Amber or Red according to the conditions in the area the unit is working in. The Fan speed will adjust accordingly in the Auto mode. I’m a bit of a tech head, and I haven’t found the lack of a digital display terribly important, other than adding unnecessary extra cost. In my experience with electronics, digital displays are normally the first item to fail.
Hope this helps.

If all the models address pet dander, what is the advantage of the pet filter in the Winix zero + pro 5 model. Also, does it blow out cold air? Thank you.

5 answers
Winix
Allan B.Winix

Hi Karalyn, Russell here from Ausclimate.
You are correct that each of the Winix air purifiers are suited to remove pet dander.
The advantage of the Zero Plus Pro pet filter is that it provides another layer of filtration. A pack of 12 x filters comes with the unit. They are disposable and should be replaced each month, or as required depending on the amount of pet dander, as well as other airborne allergens.
Although I don't have pets, I find them great because current renovations have caused excess dust in my home - yes, it did a great job of keeping the air in our living area very clean.
Each pet filter has an adhesive edges that stick to the outside edge of the pre-filter.
The Zero Plus Pro also has advanced PlasmaWave technology that assists to neutralise harmful viruses that affect people AND pets.
All Winix air purifiers blow out 'room temperature' air after the harmful allergens have been captured within the high quality filters. Very happy to discuss further - Russell 1800 122 100

Thanks Russell, what is the pet filter layer aimed at removing that the other layers wouldn’t already remove?

Winix
Allan B.Winix

Hi Karalyn, all models will effectively remove pet dander and other airborne allergens. But having the additional front layer of the dedicated pet filter allows quick and effective capturing of the pet dander, as well as the many other airborne particles instead of being captured by the other filters - yes, helps to also prolong the life of the other filters too. So, in summary they really assist the purification process by doing much of the heavy work at the front end. Regards Russell

The Winix Zero+ 5Stage is very quiet. As far as a comparison with the model 9500, I can't recall the specific differences but the specialist consultant advised me that this model was the best option for me at the time.

Winix
Allan B.Winix

Hello Any (and John). Russell here from Ausclimate. I think you would be very impressed with the new Winix Zero Plus. Whilst I'm also happy to recommend the Winix Ultimate AUS-9500 for its efficiency of removing house pollution such as mould spores, dust-mites, dust, smells, airborne VOCs and other allergens, there are a couple of advantages with the Winix Zero Plus. It is quieter throughout most fan settings (Turbo fan speed is not so quiet, but its ideal for cleaning and turning over large volumes of air). It also cleans larger room areas and slightly cheaper to run - having said that, its so cheap to run that its doubtful you would notice any impact on your electricity bill. Good to run 24/7. I find this model great to use in just any area of my own home - great for the larger open plan areas, but also great for the much smaller bedrooms - nice and quiet to give that peaceful night's sleep. Cheers Russell Ph 1800 122 100

Does this purifier use any chemical?

Not sure what you are meaning by chemical, but it doesn't put out chemicals into the air, that would defeat the purpose of having an air purifier. The plasmaswave technology doesn't put out chemicals into the air either.
