I guess I am not the best person to ask this question off. I have a computer and an iPad. Have you contacted Australia on Line? Else, have you contacted the Fish Harvester people? They probably know more about their services than I would.

Yes, we assist you in configuring your existing modem.
1300 numbers are still chargeable, yes.
Are you changing to NBN or still ADSL?

How long will your company shutting down the DIAL UP internet service ?

Hi Wingding,
We will continue to provide dial up as long as we can continue to obtain access to the phone line network from the carriers.
We have no indication from our suppliers of any intention to retire our access to the phone line network.

Hi Marie,
Thanks for the great question!
There are no extra fees other than ours. So no, you don't have to pay any additional line rental, or anything, to Telstra.
Kind regards

I have recently discovered the unreliability of the FTTN NBN. I have 5 days with no internet. Shoddy NBN techs. So I am curious if you offer a 4G backup like Telstra?

Gosh, that sounds very poor.
Our routers do have an ability to plug in a mobile broadband dongle, but we ourselves do not provide the mobile broadban.

Hi, We forward orders swiftly through to NBN Co in doing so we minimise activation times.
Having said this, once the order is in the hands of the NBN, there's not much any provider can do to accelerate the NBN process.
Give us a call, we'd be interested in finding out what kind of NBN delivery is involved and what advice you've been given.

Looks lime the reviews are pretty good. I have a question...the company's website looks suspiciously like the Belong internet site and the home phone plans they offer with ADSL are the same as what telstra offer. Telstra owns Belong and i have a feeling they own Australia On Line.....can anyone prove me wrong on this?

I'm not sure who owns it but every time I ring I get one of two very helpful men. I don't have to go indepth as to who I am as they are familiar with my file. I had a bit of a delay getting contacted as we are a new estate and NBN had to connect. But Australian online kept me updated along the way and I didn't get monthly charges until I was fully connected

Australia On Line
Michael B.Australia On Line

Australia On Line has been going since 1994, before Telstra was even supplying Internet.
You can check the following History of the Australian Internet for confirmation of this, http://www.rogerclarke.com/II/OzIHist.html#RTFToC12
I'm not sure that I see the similarity between the Belong website and ours, but I'll take it as a compliment that our presentation is comparable to that of
a much larger company (Belong/Telstra).
No, we are not part of Belong/Telstra.

For ADSL2+ it is $49 activation and $59 per month for unlimited data assuming
you have an existing phone service connected to the Telstra network (though not necessarily via Telstra retail).

Hi Natsabishi

If you are happy with the cost of this Internet Service Provider don't hesitate to use them. They are seriously THE BEST !! I had been with them for a number of years on ADSL then moved house and had to go with Telstra. What a headache Telstra were to deal with but thankfully in 2014 NBN became available in my area I was able to sack Telstra and return to Australia Online and could not be happier.

I live in Wanneroo WA and have been informed that Optus has no lines available for my area. I need a phone line installed and a phone/internet bundle. which bundles from you are provided by Telstra ?

1 answer

Michael B.Australia On Line

Hi Peter,
Optus don't service that exchange area at all.
We can connect you to broadband over the Telstra network though you'll need to connect a phone service with Telstra first.
We can then activate your broadband and we can also transfer their Telstra phone service over to us if you so desire.

Hi,
If your home phone service has been transferred to the NBN then your old land line phone service, including your ADSL2, will be disconnected.
If you want to use WiFi with the NBN you'll need an NBN compatible Wifi router.

Michael B.Australia On Line

You will need to get an ISP to activate NBN Broadband.
Our own broadband and phone bundles start at $34.85 per month.

I have been with Activ8.for many years. Went from ipstar Satellite to Skyedge NBN Satellite about a year ago. In the past few months my plan has been changed several times from 60 GB Anytime to NBN Sat 20GB/25GB (Peak data 20000MB, Off Peak 25000 MB) I do not use the internet during Off Peak. Can you advise me of whether I can change to another ISP such as Australia On Line or any other Out Back Satellite ISP? Or am I going to have to put up with Activ8 giving me less GBs whenever they see fit? I am so cheesed of with this Company. I have complained to Activ8 but cant get their overseas staff to understand what my problem is.

Hi! We are not currently providing Satellite NBN. We will once NBN launch their own satellites and they can then guarantee a more consistent service than they have in the past. NBN claim they will be launching these satellites next year. Sorry we can't assist you earlier than that.

Hi,
My NBN connection is cable, and sorry I cannot advise about anything to do with wireless. You would be better off contacting Aust OnLine direct. Cheers...

Australia On Line
Michael B.Australia On Line

Hi,

NBN Fixed wireless is good.
For a 25 Mbps service you should expect 19 to 23 Mbps depending on what site your accessing and the equipment your using.
The fact that you don't have to pay line rental for a phone service you don't want is a definite plus.
You can email [email protected] for confirmation of our availability in your area.

Michael B.Australia On Line

Hi John,
It all depends on whether Belong lock their modems so they can only be used when connected to them..
Telstra, of which Belong is part, have had a habit for the last few years of locking modems they provide so that they cannot be used to connect to other providers.
I don't know if this is still the case, you might need to ask your existing provider.

Hi guys.

Am on the verge of joining Australia Online due to the high reviews you guys are posting. I already phoned in twice and till now they always helped me out. One thing I am not too sure, how's the ADSL2+ Speed for Australia Online? I was doing some research and found that iinet and internode have the fastest ADSL2+ speeds. How do these compare to Australia Online?

Thanks guys

Paul_E

Sorry I can't comment about their ADSL2+ speeds, as I am connected via the NBN...( which by the way is just awesome!!!).

Australia On Line
Michael B.Australia On Line

Hi Ramsku,

iiNet and Internode are the same company these days.
There is no way that iINet can be any faster than we are, it's the same technology after all, though they are certainly more expensive.
They only have iiNet and Telstra's network available to them. We on the other hand make use a number of networks from multiple carriers which means we have more to choose from for the fastest available.

How fast your internet speed is, is going to depend on how long your phone line is to the exchange (the longer the line the slower your broadband) and
whether your phone line goes to the main exchange or a sub exchange (sub exchanges generally only have the slower ADSL1 ports) and how good the line
itself is. In other words we can't say how fast your ADSL2+ will other than to say it will be the fastest possible.

Regards

Australia On Line.

austozzie
austozzie

your maximum speed is determined by the capability of your connection/how much you want to pay. AOL can provide the highest speed possible on your phone line - if they can't give it to you due to restrictions of your connection, no one can.

I hadn't head of Australia On Line, until I read these reviews. In fact, when I try to 'Google' them, all I can find is the company profile and this web site. Am I correct in saying that the host telco (eg Telstra) will be determined by where I live, and hence the speed of your service will also be determined by where I live?

I'm not sure if you are after a NBN or ADSL service. If your enquiry relates to an NBN service, then I suggest you go to the NBN website, where you can enter your address details and they will give you an estimate of when the NBN may be available in your area, plus they also have a list of various ISP's. If you are after an ADSL service, I suggest you go directly to their website or give them a ring. Believe me, they are very good to deal with. Hope this helps. Regards

Try this link - http://www.ozonline.com.au/ - I wouldn't use anyone else. I am not a techie, far from it, so a lot of the lingo I don't get. But I have an ADSL modem (so broadband -- I can't use wifi on my laptop as it is a work unit and for some reason that software won't connect (well it also could be I've got Version 8.1 of Microsoft on that laptop which is all the cloud based stuff??) operate with wifi so I must have broadband connection. The plan I am on includes my landline telephone, free local and national calls from that phone and it is Optus, not Telstra. The Tech Support and service from Australia on Line is second to none. They really go out of their way to help. I've been with them since I got my first home computer - around 1999/2000.

Go to their website at http://australiaonline.net.au/ choose the service you would like and there will be somewhere that asks you for your address/phone number. When you enter this the system goes off and checks on speeds available to your area. If you have any trouble just phone them on their helpdesk number 1300 650 661 - the support staff are great and will walk you through everything you need to know.

I am thinking of changing ISP's. However, I live in Perth, W.A., and I note that all the excellent reviews of Ozonline are from Eastern States clients.
Does anyone have any experence of Ozonline as a West Australian client?
My current ISP is a sizeable Perth-based outfit, with national and NZ coverage, and they provide a satisfactory service.
However, I believe I am paying too much for my current service and Ozonline appears to offer a similar service to my current ISP for a lower price (I'll be able to save at least $300 a year).
Before I change over, though, I'd like to hear if Perth-based clients of Ozonline have the same glowing praise for Ozonline as the Eastern State clients do.

Hi Onetrack, our Perth service is comparable to our eastern service. The only issue may be that due to time differences our help desk is open until 7pm weekdays and 5pm weekends WA time, but then we open at 7am in Perth!!

The website for Lizzy says it has been in operation since 1994, but I haven't heard of it until now.
