Hey Moi, having just finished going through this myself, this is what I know: You go to the AP website, then you need to dig around there until you find the delays info. You need to click on a few links, The last time I looked it was in the FAQ, via Covd 19 Domestic post updates. There is an update there from 14 April which says delivery to country and regional areas "may be delayed by up to X days...". Under this, both Darwin and metro Perth are listed, as both cities (except for CBD postcodes I think) are considered as regional and outside the express network for next day guarantee. Also at some point recently, the gaurantee was suspended, although the info is that Express is still the fastest way to send and natuirally still costs the same. I seem to remember that for Darwin it may have read " up to three days...". So whatever the expected time is for Victoria to Darwin via Express, you add 3 days to that. You have to dig even deeper to discover what the expected time fro Express delivery is to Darwin, but as I did find the table giving estimates recently I remember that Darwin from non regional Vic was 1-3 or maybe 1-4 business days. So if AP had your mail on 16/04,it would be expected on say 21 April (4 business days) at the latest in Darwin, then add 3 days for C19 delay and that takes you to 24th April ie tomorrow. That's just according to the unsimple, ambiguous and difficult to access info on the website. There is a more general statement that is more accessible that predicts " a few days delay" whilst other pages say "significant delays". So who knows?! A 'few" usually means three so. My express parcel Sydney to Perth took 14 days.

Domestic Express Post

How is that a parcel posted with regular standard parcel post can be processed in metro Perth on 8th April and delivered to recipient in regional NSW on the 15th April, yet an express post package going the other way can be dispatched from NZ on 7th April, handed to Aust Post in Sydney on 8th April post customs clearance, take 2 days to reach a major automated sorting facility also in Sydney on the 11th April, be sorted on the 12th April, be expected in metro Perth on the 15th April, be "delayed" on the 16th April, have a formal enquiry lodged on 16th April remain unaddressed as of 21st April, and remain in limbo as "delayed" with no further updates as of the 21st April? And Australia Post still offers its Express Post Service as the fastest way to have items delivered?

Australia Post Domestic Postage

Online order with Myer 31 March SE Melb suburbs. Delivery via AusPost. Still waiting for order to arrive 19 April. Only has to come from a nearby suburb. Not interstate or anything.
Tracking shows apparently order is on its way but no update since 7th, its now 19th.
Has my delivery been sitting in a warehouse somewhere for 12 days?
AusPost website provides little
information apart from very unhelpful "delays due to Covid19". Appreciate due to rise in online shopping this is bound to happen but losing faith due to lack of info. Tracking notifications obviously not working.
Will I ever get an ETA and my actual delivery???????????????
Not holding my breath.

As someone who lives in the west and gets regular deliveries from the east I can tell you that, under normal conditions, a parcel will take a minimum of 10 business days to get from coast to coast.
You could add another 5 days to get from Sydney or Brisbane to Nimbin.
Under current conditions you are more likely to be looking at + 1 month.

that is just absoulutely ridiculous such a long wait for a small item how australia post is still operating and has any customers is beyond me they are nothing but rude and ill manered the staff in the post offcies are always in a bad mood and dont have any respect

Domestic Express Post

Really like an Answer from someone who knows. Please help.

I live in a suburb of Perth that is about 20 mins from central buisiness district. I receive from Auckland NZ, on average every three months, a package of stay off ciggarettes/quit smoking product which is extremely important for me to have on time. The New Zealand Vendor uses Express International Post for my orders.

The present situation, for whatever reasons, results in my product not reaching me within 2-3 business days. In some instances in the past, prior to Covid19, perhaps owing to other things such as fires or the Xmas period or last Easter period, I also experienced anxiety about getting my package in a timely manner and the time period overall tends to be 4 business days. The general situation is that if I order on a Monday, I can never be sure that I will receive by the Thurs/Friday. This particular Easter, with my package not arriving after three business days (Tues, /wed, /thurs before easter) and even with AP working over Easter my stuff is currently still in Sydeny and estimated for arrival on Wednesday 15th April - another two to 2 1/2 days of waiting (dispatched Tuesday 7 April, arrived in Aust and Cleared WED 8th April but not sorted until pm Sunday 12th April).

My question is :If I was to hire a post box in Perth CBD, which is guaranteed next day delivery for express post from CBD postcodes in Sydney/Melbourne, would my express post parcels from NZ be subject to the next day delivery guarantee if they are addressed to the Perth CBD post box address? From what I undertstand my express parcels seem to be taken to Sydney Strathfield for sorting, however perhaps sometimes they go through Melbourne CBD centres depending on flights out of NZ.

***So would changing my address to a Perth CBD PO box mean that my Express post packages are subject to next day guarantee once they are at a facility on the East coast?

At this point, if this would make any difference to delivery anxiety and the reality I would be more than happy to get a mail box in the CBD to try and avoid my current situation next time. It is only 20 minutes by car to check mail box in CBD and more than happy to pay cost (perhaps package locker cheaper) for a trade off for more peace of mind.

Yes, everyone has their own personal problems and I am not the only one to suffer, but it strikes me that I cannot ever go through another time waiting anxiously for express delivery to Perth whilst all the time knowing deep down it just is not going to happen. No words to describe how difficult this Easter has been...trying to stay away from legally available ciggarette death sticks after running out of NZ supplied legal quit smoking product on Saturday.

Hi, sorry to know that you have to experience this. Before you opt for a PO box, I'd like to see whether your current address is within our express delivery network. If it is covered by the express service network, you do not have to get a PO box just to ensure that your parcel is delivered ontime. Please send me a private message with your full name, address, contact no & email so that I can check further and get back to you.

Sprry, but since sending my private info via message (no response yet), have realised my central question above has been side-stepped! I already know that metro Perth is not included in the guaranteed time frame express post network. I already researched this, which is what gave rise to my still unanswered question! As per my messages, I think you will find that all of metro Perth is deemed as outside the Express post network (there can be no expectation of a guaranteed set time for delivery), hence why I asked for somebody who knows whether trying to arrange for a delivery address within the PERTH CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT would actually mean that express post eparcels from NZ would fall under the next day guarantee once arived at an east cost major sorting centre.

Your own website has a page that explains how both*METRO Perth and Darwin are excluded. So my question remains unanswered in fact, So please if anyone knows - can express post eparcels be subject to 2 day/next day or whatever it is guarantee if the receiver's address is within the network ie in my case the Perth CBD? Or are express eparcels automatically excluded?

Hi, International Express Post small package *tracking number 2BX1013881010320; *Shipping information received by Australia Post on Tue 7th Apr 7:15pm; *Departure from NZ 08/04/2020 at 07.28am in the morning. No Further updates from My post since the above on 7th April.

1. Aust Post website specifies that post between NZ and Aust returned to normal on 3rd of April. My pacjage is in Australia somewhere since it left NZ at 7.30AM on Wed 8th April.
2. Aust Post website staes that delivery centres will operate over easter and that deliveries will occur in "some" areas. No further information available.

Questions: 1. Will you deliver my package to Perth over Easter? I can find no information on whether this will happen.
2. On what day can I expect my package to arrive? Please specify if it will be Friday 10th, Satuday 11th, Monday 13th or Tuesday 14th April.

"...Even Wednesday" is the current prediction. Tracking is still reading "on time" for tomorrow (Wed 15th), and AP website basically tells me to rely on the estimate and forget the tracking because of 'operational reasons' and because "...I may notice my delivery is coming from a different location to usual..." (yes from NSW to Metro Perth tomorrow by 5pm instead of from the WA/Perth sorting centre to metro Perth tomorrow?).. AP is like a committment phobe that keeps its options open until the last minute before revealing their hand. No transparency in tracking = no accountability. Vague, vague and more vague...obfustacation. I am told to have faith in estimate for the 15th....even though tracking says it is still in NSW....well because, well maybe for 'operational reasons' it's really in Perth ready to go out tomorrow...have faith in the estimate, it's better for our operations to show that your parcel is in NSW on the eve of expected delivery instead of in Perth (and to have faith in the estimate I must believe it is in Perth because if it is in NSW now, there is no possibilty of delivery tomorrow). Gaslighting much? I wish Aus Post would drop the ambiguity. AP FAQ - Parcel appears to not be moving? Ignore that - it is just for operational reasons. So does that mean my parcel is set for delivery for tomorrow and is infact in Perth ready to go and scanned and I will receive an out for delivery note at 8am tomorrow morning? Or does it mean that first thing tomorrow, or if not first thing then later, tracking will "update" with "delayed" and a new estimate for, say, Thursday 16th, only to have the whole process repeat itself? Does AP really have this little forward planning atm?

Jelp

Thank you, You mean 15th April, not March btw. I can give you a heads up by letting you know now. I am understandably pessimistic that I will not receive by tomorrow (15th April). This is because in my NZ Post Account, tracking status remains at "sorted at Stathfield NSW, 1.40pm 12th April" but this was thoughtfully added some time today - "pending transport... {to Western Australia]" ... presumably for my edification.. I have a reasonable trust in the NZ tracking updates and therefore believe that this morning (Tues 14th) package was still in NSW. NZ cannot give me further updates, ofcourse, until AP does. In my Aust post tracking there is no change since Sunday 12th April - that is "processed at facility Strathfield NSW", no mention of pending transport, no scan at WA, so am basically guessing that it still in NSW, not in transit and not arrived in Perth (again, the AP tracking system is so set up as to evoke apprehension and uncertainty, because tracking may or may not update efficiently in real time, so perhaps my item is in transit now or has arrived at Perth Airport/Welshpool sorting centre and scanned but there is no tracking update... can AP human relations experts understand how this uncertainty creates mistrust in the system and evokes such confusing anxiety and resentment in customers? How it appears as gaslighting/withholding of info because of unpredictability?).

Past experience tells me that if express post parcel is not scanned through at Welshpool or Perth Airport today then there is no chance of it being "on board" for delivery tomorrow. Correct me if I am wrong (would be so grateful if I am) but the Perth network/system, regardless of whether something is express or not, seems to be that a parcel is never delivered on the same day that it is scanned through as arriving, whether that be at 1am, 7am, 2 pm or whenever. A parcel will always at the the very best be on board for delivery the next buisiness day after it is scanned through as arriving. Therfore unless I see a tracking update before midnight tonight that it is scanned through then I will not be receiving tomorrow. Even then I am concerned that a late evening arrival would be too late for delivery tomorrow. The item has to be scanned through at Peth Airport centre then either sorted there or at WElshpool then go to Bibra Lake for delivery from there.

The information is there on AP website for anyone who cares to dig it out - All of Perth metro outside the CBD does not fall under the Express Post network. Only Perth CBD postcodes - i e Perth Central Business District postcodes- are in the Express Post network. Thing is so many people live in Perth metro area, a lot more than the Perth Central Business district (because it is a business district, not a residential district). In other major centres (Syd, Melb, Brisbane, etc etc etc) excluding Darwin (same posi as Perth), metroplitan areas are included in the Express network. Yet I am encouraged to use Express post (pay extra to have a vendor send it Express) when metro Perth is outside the network. AP basically says 'trust me...it will be faster than standard'.
