Good
Design is elegant and sleek, yet very tough being all stainless construction. No plastic/bakelite handles here. The handle does get hot from gas burners, but this is brief and it cools almost immediately after the burner is turned off.
The resulting brew is excellent as I've come to expect from stainless steel stovetop espresso makers.
Although it's design and construction are top notch, except for one minor detail, the unit is still quite pricey at $150 where I bought mine (Unfortunately I'm not certain as to the product's RRP, But I'm gue...Read more
ssing it's between $100 and $150.) The only other niggling detail is what Avanti call the "filter cap". This little apparatus is designed to sit on top of the funnel or basket where the coffee grounds are placed and press them down gently into the basket. This is a great idea as it's supposed to provide extra filtration and keep the coffee grounds pressed firmly in the basket, but unfortunately the construction of this object is so thin and flimsy that the high pressure during brewing actually bends the disc into a V shape and often coffee grounds go around and end up on top of it during the bewing process. I only have the medium (6 cup) version, so I can't say how the other two sizes perform, but I would assume the results would be much the same. Overall this is a great looking and well built little coffee maker which does the job well. It also comes in 3 sizes which is handy for guests. The price could be better considering fairly decent bench top espresso machines start at around $250AUD these days, maybe cheaper, although I am yet to try one of these units, so I'm unsure of the brewing quality.1 comment

Elegant design; wonderful brew
I bought the 6-cup version for $100 from House. It's a great moka pot in every respect and makes strong, consistent brews. Like the last review, my secondary filter also tacos from the pressure, but I prefer a stronger brew, so I leave it out. The stainless handle doesn't get hot and the unit is very well balanced. The handle itself is a good distance from the pot so you don't have to worry about burning the backs of your fingers. I've found there's a little amount of water left in the resevoir bottom after brewing; the smaller versions I'...Read more
ve used tend to empty completely, so it could be a volume issue. The unit seals well and comes with a spare seal rubber. I'm thinking of getting the other sizes too - I really like this unit. Design, finish, quality of construction and brew. Comes in many sizes, Great machianetta! secondary filter flimsy, but bends back easilySimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Hi Henry, I have an Avanti Art Deco 6 cup and all good here. I would suggest that you contact McIvers Tea and Coffee Merchants in Melbourne who sell Avanti and are good people to deal with. You could send them an email, find the address at mcivers.melbourne or phone 03 93298911. As an alternative you could look at the Ilsa Slancio coffee maker which I believe is the same as the Avanti. If you go to espressozone.com or go to caffebianchi.com.au both companies sell Ilsa coffe makers and parts including funnels. You could contact them and ask if the parts in the Ilsa are interchangeable with the Avanti. As a last possible solution you would need to know the dimensions of the Avanti funnel and then see if one of the Bialetti Stainless Steel funnels are the same size and would fit the avanti.Bialetti parts are more readily available than the avanti. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Good Luck.

I newer brew with the filter cap on. I just use it to "tamp" my coffee down and then put it aside. I have great results.
