We are first time parents and we deciding between the City Mini and the City Mini GT. It looks like the GT has "better" wheels, an adjustable handle and 2kgs heavier, but besides that they are the same thing? What do you think? What do you think of the wheels on the GT compared with the cheaper model? TIA

I looked at the two and I definitly think the GT wheels are a better choice as make it so much easier to push especially if you have larger children like me. I can push my 4 year old in the GT comfortable. I have had a lot of prams because I’ve never been happy but I am very happy with the GT

We just recently purchased the City Mini GT. Ours does NOT have a "red safety strap" that I keep seeing in the photos? Are there versions of the mini GT that do not have the red strap?

It is only the Australian model that requires the strap & brake to be red.

There is no difference other than the colour, your model would be a US or UK model someone would have purchased it direct cheaper than buying in Australia.

No. It can only be adjusted up/down for the height of a person.

Unfortunately no. The city select had that option

Hi, I was just wondering what pram liners people are using for their GT - if any? The Outlook one I have purchased slips all over the place.

I'm using a sheep wool liner. I don't know the brand but it is a universal liner and I do find it slides a little bit but I'm used to it now

Yes, the City Select is a tandem stroller that can go from a single to a double with a seat added.

Hi jojo,
I don't think you can use a second seat for the city mini gt, the second seat option is made for the City Select model only at the moment.

Hi im really curios to know if it tips sideways while going up curbs. When i went to put the stroller back on the stand in any store putting weight on the front wheel makes it tip sideways. So how often does it tip?

Hi yes I guess is does tip a bit if you go up something, side effect of being so light and easy to steer, but never to a degree that it has felt dangerous. Just put two hands on it while going up the curb and you can't hang stuff from the handle.
Don't forget once a baby is in it and there is stuff in the tray it won't tip as much as when you tried it in the shop.
Can't think of a time this has been a problem in two years.

RockyV

All three wheel prams are less sturdy than four wheeled but I do lots of walking with a dog pulling in my other hand, up and down footpaths and over grass and have never found tipping sideways a problem. It's not a consideration I think.

Does anyone do serious running with this pram?

No, and it's not ideal for doing so. You could definitely jog with it a bit but if you're a runner, get yourself a second hand running pram and get a smaller light weight second pram or stroller for your car trips/shops. Plenty people put running prams on gumtree. My second pram was an Mountain buggy urban jungle - bigger wheels and better for jogging than the city mini range. I bought it second hand for about $80.

I'm 31w and have a baby jogger city mini gt. I bought it from baby bunting and they said that I can use it for newborns as is. I think I would feel better if I can see my baby as I feel the pram is actually quite massive. Would you suggest I buy a bassinet? I've been trying to research but can't find much about this concern. TIA

You could try and get a bassinet off gumtree. Keep an eye out for one over the coming month or two. The reality is they're used for such a short time that second hand ones are in good condition.

Otherwise I just had a sheepskin under the newborn - was perfectly fine. And a bassinet was one less thing to worry about putting in car.

If after a couple of weeks you really feel you want a bassinet, go get a new one then, some places will deliver or send your partner off to fetch one given you know exactly which one to get.

It can be nice to look at your baby but the window is fine.

Hi! You should request to join the baby joggers Australia buy sell swap group. I just got approved today and there's heaps of second hand stuff there.

From personal experience, it seems more straightforward to buy a second hand car seat adapter and either rent/buy a compatible car capsule. That way, you can use it for car travel and easily transfer Bub in and out if your vehicle without waking your baby up AND you can have the baby facing option with your GT. Our little man falls asleep easily in his capsule, which I suspect is because of the snugness of it.

Anyway, this is our personal experience. Hope it helps!

JulieXX

I've used this with my bub from newborn, lay it flat & get a head support & or a cocoon type liner, don't waste your money in a bassinet that you will only use for a few months.

This may seem like a silly question, but can anyone help me in trying to keep the darn chest pads on my City Mini GT pram? It's one of those 5 point harnesses, but the chest always slip off and it's so annoying! Any tips would be great..besides super gluing them on! Thanks

We have used it for over 2 years, never got that problem. However, there is a little buckle thing on the side, sometimes it may stuck I just pull it out a bit then it can close completely.

Hi Row, the sun shade came standard with ours :)

The sun canopy is integrated to the pram which can be folded all the way back. It has got two peeking flaps to see the baby from top. Not sure how you got one without it unless we are speaking of two different things.

Does anyone find that their toddler is slumped in this pram? I have a standard City Mini 4 wheel & I'm considering changing to the GT but I'm concerned wondering if the incline of the seat is the same? The clips at the back just don't seem to hold the seat in an upright enough position & my Bub always seems to be slumped & not upright or comfortable.

Hi julie. I have the gt and my son slumps in it. So i brought a $10 cushion from kmart to put behind his back to prop him up. He seems alot happier in it now. I wasnt going to spend more $ on another pram when a $10 cushion did the job

JulieXX
JulieXX

Thanks Hayley, I have tried to place a cushion in behind, however then the harness is not long enough to accomodate the extra bulk, my daughter is only 16months old & the harness is at full stretch & baby jogger do not supply harness extensions.

RockyV

I saw on ebay that a UK company has tried to resolve this by making a strap especially for the city mini range to hold the seat up straighter. It cost about $10 plus $10 in postage. I plan to buy it or make my own. Try doing a search on ebay.

We have the City Mini but really hate the wheels on it (we love our Elite but our son hates is to we are using the other). I'm wanting to know if the GT wheels fit on the mini?
Thanks

1 answer
JulieXX
JulieXX

No they don't, the rear wheels will fit but not the front, baby jogger have made it this way, because everyone was buying the standard & then buying GT wheels separate which was cheaper than buying a GT or Elite which was preferred as most, as I, want the fixed solid handle of the standard mini, if you have a city mini 4 wheel the versa GT wheels fit on, however they are pretty rare to find now as they were discontinued a few years back, baby jogger as are company are so greedy, but they are missing out on huge profit in the long run by not supplying GT wheels as they're so many people on the net trying to source them & the customer service aspect, I will never buying a Baby Jogger again for this reason.

Has anybody got experience with the city mini GT set up with a capsule and a toddler board? I'm due with my 2nd bub soon and my toddler will be just turning 2. Would love your advice about this setup as I'd like to try and avoid upgrading prams! Will my 2-year-old by OK on the toddler board? Is he likely to be too young for this? Thanks!

I ended up putting a Strolli Rider bike attachment onto mine, which I came across when I was researching toddler boards. It fits great and works well for us.

We are going to New York next year in March with our (then) 7-month-old and are looking at this pram as a travel pram. We will probably buy the pram here before we go.
What accessories would you suggest? Should we buy them here in Aus or in New York?
Everyone talks about how great and breathable it is for Summer, but it will be quite cool in NY, when it is laid back, can you suggest something to keep the baby warm while she sleeps/make the mesh less breathable?

I have a lambs wool insert that keeps my little one warm in winter and breathable for summer

Jes

It has a cover that attached to the pram to cover the mesh when it's laid back.

When it's really cold days, I have a foot muff. Baby jogger has one that fit universally or you can custom made them.

Accessories wise, I love the parent console.

I'm not sure it's better to purchase in Australia or in NY. It is about 12 kg as checked in luggage. Perhaps a stroller is a better choice for travelling? However baby bunting does good discount when sales is on.

Amanda

As an Australian living in NY with a now 8 month old the City mini gt is great. The only accessory I would suggest is a rain cover to keep the rain out (obviously) but also block some of the cold air out, you could buy a foot muff but I think at that time of year as long as your little one is dressed properly you could get away with just using a good quality blanket. As for buy it in Aus or NY in Australia I see them sell for 749 AUD here in NY at babies r us you can get it for roughly 350 AUD which a huge difference however warranty is only valid to the country you bought it. I would suggest bringing a carrier like a ergo or something similar it comes in handy for quick trips and keeps baby warm.

Hi there. I'm looking at getting a CMGT and not quite sure how I'm going to handle the whole baby bag thing as I have heard it can easily tip.. I'm not too keen on any other prams atm. I previously had a strider4 and it was heavy and annoying to take in and out of the car, so looking at something lighter and easier to handle. The basket in th CMGT is very small too which is a downfall for me but im loving everything else about the pram. Just after some thoughts on how people felt with these minor issues? :) TIA

I hang mine around the handle close to the seat not off the handle if that makes any sense?? Or I use pram clips to hold it to the frame just outside the basket at the back. I find this better with a large bag. You just need to access the basket on the side. When my bub was only months old it felt tippy when he was laying down but never tipped. Now he is 10kg and never goes all the way flat to sleep now it's not a problem. You can buy pram weights if you find its tippy but I never needed them. I can fit just as much in the basket as I can in my bugaboo cam and much more then my bugaboo bee!

Yazzzy
Yazzzy

I love my cmgt the basket has never been an issue for me. I hang my baby bag as well and it has never tipped over yet? The basket is generous size and easier to access from the sides.

Thank you for your response. I have purchased the CMGT but haven't yet used it as baby is still cooking lol. It was in my price range and I had heard great feedback on it, so I bit the bullet and got it.
It's a dream to push! all the other factors I wasn't sure about I guess I will get used to it. Overall, I think I made the right decision :)
