This is a product recommended to me by a friend. I have used it on scratches, dry skin and minor burns. Be warned - you only need a little bit! Once applied, it seems it is best to leave the area alone for a few minutes to allow the Ungvita to be absorbed by the skin. It is great for scratches on sensitive skin areas like the face or thigh (children), as it heals them without the scarring that would otherwise be left. It is very smelly and my children always complain when I tell them they will need the 'smelly cream'. They are always willing for me to apply it as they have seen the results for themselves!
Heals like no other over the counter product I have used before. A little of this product goes a long way.
It smells absolutely terrible!

After having no luck with other creams for bubs nappy rash I was told by my Doctor to try this. It cleared it up quickly. At the first sign of nappy rash I apply it and it's gone. Would highly recommend it.
Gets rid of nappy rash. Value for money.
It doesn't have a very nice smell!

That's true. The best and quickest way to heal those nasty red nappy rashes.

Go to the chemist and invest in this versatile product! Its a take EVERYWHERE product and can be used all over the body for just about anything!
Wow amazing healing product - contains retinal and Vit A - very good for the skin! It is a must have in every household! I keep it in the kitchen for minor cooking burns - sooths and heals! About $9.00 a tube so well worth it!
Wipes off easily - would be nice if it had a better coating base especially for use in the nappy region - when used for nappy rash I have found it works better if you apply it and leave bubs nappy off for 10 or so minutes to give it a chance soak in!

This is an overall great product which can be used for so many things. It actually reminds me of the Elizabeth Arden Eight hour cream. This is great for childrens sores, insect bites, chapped lips and dermatitis. I have been using this stuff for years. Do yourself a favour and buy it.
A must have in every medical cabinent

I think this stuff is as close as you can get to RetinA without getting RetinA. It's vitamin A in petroleum jelly. My dad used to use it to fix the crack in his fingers in the winter, now I use it on my face, on scars and on my feet. Amazing smelly stuff.
Fixes cracks in skin and heals without scarring
Yeah, it smells fishy.

I remember this back in the day. Not sold any more in NZ and perhaps not world wide either. I remember it having a nice smell. However I find the (vaseline type) Ungvita to work wonders.

can ungvita be used to heal a wound that is not healing

Ungvita will certainly help. The vitamin A in Ungviita promotes cell growth and also helps the skin to fight inflammation/infection which may be causing some of the problem. I would also recommend a few minutes of sunlight on the wound several times a day as UV radiation also kills germs.

I think it would help! I used this on my sons carpet burn when he had a fit and it worked. I think if you have tried other remedies you should give it a go. Its certainly my go to cream! I agree with Sharron 71 (above)
Can I ask what your wound is from?

Can I purchase a larger amount of Ungvita?

Hi Maggie, not that I am aware of. Only ever purchased it in the packet pictured. Love this stuff. Great for your eyelashes, a thin smear on your finger, then spread on your lashes makes a big difference.

Hi Maggie, I only know of the 50g tube in recent years. When I was a child (I'm 76 now) my parents used to buy a much larger jar that lasted for many years. (No expiry dates back then!). I only use it for rapid healing of skin cuts and abrasions and only a very small amount is needed, so the little 50g tube lasts for years too!
