Appalling Lack of Customer Engagement
I have been a happy Beyonwiz U4 owner. A secondary Humax 4tune (lovely product but no longer available) died so was interested in a V2. Asked a few questions by email and got one timely response, but needed some followup answers, eg how does one set a U4 and V2 to operate side-by-side without remote interference; how many concurrent recordings can be made with the 3-tuner configuration (the 4 tuner is no longer available); and is the external HDD USB or main powered. No reply to 2 emails as well as getting a ticket via their customer 'suppor...
Read moret'. Also had a simple yes/no question ignored re 'U4 support'. Impressive product capabilities but not a responsive company - you will be all alone with nobody to talk to. If it is not on the Beyonwiz (Find It Yourself) community Q&A & info too bad. Gave up trying to get a response from Beyonwiz and approached the Humax rep who was able to sell me a refurb 4tune.- Incentivised Review No

Sufficient for my needs
I pre ordered the V2 when it first came out, so must have had it for a couple of years now. Brought it as a replacement of my Beyonwiz DP-P2 (Which was an awesome machine, but after 10 years the tuner failed). Anyway, the V2 was purchased with the dual external tuner. I added a 128gig sd card for timeshift and an external 2tb usb drive for recording. Internet connectivity is via Ethernet.
Initially, there were some issues freezing or locking up and the unit had to be turned off and back on to respond. This may have been an issue with the extern...

Nice product with minor flaws. Firmware updates not often enough.
I have V2 with 3 tuners and 1000Gb HDD. Works very well once it is set up (a little bit technical) apart from the fast forward feature which seems to have a mind of it's own. Overall, quite satisfied but a firmware update should not take 2 years.

not as good as previous Beyonwiz products
I've had this unit for nearly a year & its worked well for the most part. I especially enjoy the ability to be able to record any timeshift material from even hours ago (as long as on the same channel). This pvr is packed with features you will not find on others, but honestly i have not unlocked all of them as i've just not had the mental energy & time to work it all out. I previously owned the DP-Lite which was a breeze to use compared to the V2.
This is a very powerful pvr with extensive features but its not for everyone, if you want someth...
Read moreing to easily work for you 'out of the box' then this is not the unit for you. On the other hand if you're really good with technology and love tinkering with it, you will probably love this pvr as you'll be more capable of unlocking all its features. I'm usually good at this sort of thing but this is much more complex than any equipment i've bought before, more a product for the true electronics hobbyist really. One really big downside, the communication from the company was pretty poor when i ordered it. There was a week delay in posting because apparently they were doing stock take, that i can accept, but they did not reply to my emails till the day they posted it, i would've expected better from a consumer electronics company.Purchased in .

this review is more about the company than the item
This worked well for 3 months and then stopped, it doesn't recognise the hard drive. I told them about it and was completely ignored. When I tried to review it on their site I got some idiotic message which I will try to paste on here........ Don't waste your time on other PVR's
Seriously this is the best PVR for Australia hands down! Once you set up ICETV EPG show me a quad tuner PVR for the money that works like this. Customer support is second to none for Aussie users. The box runs Enigma2 which is a proven software for set top boxes all over the world. With support from IceTV and Beyonwiz forum what more can you ask for honestly. This setup was a perfect setup for my elderly parents who migrated from a Windows 7 Media centre setup . I did a PLEX media setup for DVR beforehand and it was a disaster. These guys respond quickly and go the extra mile to keep the customer happy.

With more work it could be ready for release
The V2 offers a lot of promise, but is ultimately disappointing. Technically it is a high spec device, with the ability to record multiple items in up to 4k at the same time using the multiple tuners available. However the user interface and functionality is sadly lacking. It requires significant technical understanding to be able to set it up properly and is not really a retail customer product. Not surprisingly, retail stores don’t stock it.
The V2 is the latest in a line of PVRs from Beyonwiz. The hardware itself is a rebadging of an ove...

Questions & Answers
how many shows can be recorded at same time
Andrew, thank you for your review. I agree - Beyonwiz was once the best. While the DP-P2 was low tech by today's standards, it was seamless, logical and intuitive to use. I upgraded to T3s and T4s but I found all sorts of flaws in its operation. I was considering the V2 in the hope of improvements to hardware and software, but based on your review, the operational and user interface remains problematic. Do you have a recommendation for a better (or best) PVR for 2020?
Not a question, just a thank you, to Andrew M for this thoughtful and in-depth review of the Beyonwiz V2. Much appreciated. Steve S.
