What a croc.
This is not worth buying we bought the most expensive unit it made a terrible irritating sound we were desperate to send the beautiful little critters elsewhere very disappointing to have spent this amount of money on a yet another myth that is marketed?

Possum troubles
I have a large garden in Sydney and possums are causing damage and digging up my plants. I also have large macadamia nut tree and this attracts water rats from the harbourside park, visit annually when the nuts ripen. I tried possum traps, tree guards, spikes and rat baits to incomplete results.
I had heard of Sonar instruments as a deterrent and as a scientist I investigated the various instruments and research available and the good and bad comments. Therefore I purchased with some scepticism. In the first 3 weeks, to my amazement poss...Read more

Hello Adrian
Thankyou for your thoughful review, much appreciated.... Read more
I wonder if you would add to the public knowledge by letting us know (if known) what species of possum you had, was it the larger Brushtails, the smaller Ring tails or both. I also read you might be interested in a second device ?, a good quality second hand device has just become available, and would be sold at half price, if you are interested lets us know. Money well spent!!
Our problem was possums using the fence as a thoroughfare to their feeding grounds sending our dogs into a tailspin and keeping us (and the neighbours awake). So after trying pretty much every remedy shown on the internet, I have purchased a possum deterrent earlier this year which did exactly what it is meant to do, it keeps them away. I now have 3 devices providing good coverage for our garden. Sure it it’s a bit of money, but you can’t put a price on a good night sleep. Money well spent!!

Possums gone
My first bird gard possum deterrent was for a children's centre. Every morning possum droppings were all over the yard. The second one was to protect an avocado tree that was being stripped of leaves and fruit. Put a friend onto the possum deterrent as his lemon tree was being destroyed by possums. With a bit of trial and error and ensure the machine is on the right setting and right position, possums are gone.

Should have bought earlier
Didn't work in the roof space (big roof). Put outside where the possum gained entry, slows the possum which has given me enough time to try and scare it but it still comes in the roof. Unfortunately the possum has been in the roof for at least 12 months so I can't expect miracles (we have nice wool insulation - I wouldn't leave either).

iT WORKS!
I purchased a BirdGard Possum Deterrent last year, and have just bought another one.
The possums were eating every new leaf that emerged on my glory vines, but since I have turned on the possum deterrents (one in the back garden, one in the front) the vines are leafing up beautifully.
They definitely work!

Possums be gone
These possum deterrents are very effective and have done the job they are made for. I have tried cheaper ones that do not work like the ones sold by Kogan.

Great Product and Great Service!
I purchased two Possum Deterrent units to prevent my roses being completely ruined. After experimenting with the positioning of the units, my roses are now healthy and happy! It was important for me to use a product that was environmentally friendly. I still see and hear the possums about but not near my roses. The information and guidance from the staff was accurate and efficient.

Keeps away the teenagers
Seemed to have an initial Impact but they're back every night. Can't have it on when the kids are around though as its unpleasant for them. The kids are annoying too but at least they've stopped crapping in the courtyard.

Possum Magic
We've been battling for a week or so with two brush-tailed possums stripping the leaves from our silver birch tree. It is a tree I really need to shelter the front window from the sun. On Monday I ordered the unit. Today, Wednesday, it arrived and it was installed - no possums! Brilliant!

Brilliant!
We purchased a Bird Gard possum deterrent device a few months ago to solve a problem we had with our tourist accommodation being negatively impacted by possums doing their thing on the adjoining LaserLite roof. This device does exactly what it claims to do and does it brillianly. In fact it is so successful we are now buying an additional unit to deter possums from our new pegola on which we intend groing table grapes, which is in a different location. If you have a possum problem, buy this unit. Five stars!

Customer Service Ethos is second to none!
I bought the Bird Guard Possum Deterrent & although it wasn't right for my property ( I had long term, HUGE bush tail & a few ring tail Possums as permanent tenants), there was nothing the Bird Guard crew didn't do to try & help me out in getting them to vacate!
Darren in particular was patient and workshopped many alternate placement scenarios for me, he asked for photos so he could best assess the placement & really was honest & helpful. Denise from accounts is also a great ambassador for the company. A solid example of how people should operate a small business. I will recommend this company to others.
High recommended.

Brilliant!
Purchased the Bird Gard in March and it worked immediately. There was so much poop and wee at our front entry door to the house it was a mine field to walk through it. Never thought this would work so well. We have not had any possums from Day1. Who would have believed it. We had tried everything from sensor lights to Vicks Vaporub tied on rags in the tree but to no avail - Great product and easy to install. Have now had it hardwired in with the knowledge it works so well. We sent photos of our entry with our tree covering the entrance t...Read more
o Darren and he was extremely helpful showing us where to place it. Couldn't recommend it highly enough. It only comes on during the night and none of us can hear any noise. Would highly recommend it.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Tried it for 6 months and it didnt work
I have tried the product for six months. changing locations and making sure that it was right in the possums path. Their wee and poo covered the rafter right up to the front of the device, There was nothing obstructing it to block the sound, I am not sure if its the city possums and they just dont care. Anyway put in a sensor light for $30 and the first night it scared them a couple of times and I havent seen them since, So in my situation it was much cheaper and better to go with a do it yourself sensor light,

Excellent result
I purchased a Bird Gard possum deterrent last October. The possums had eaten out the top of a large tree in my garden. The deterrent has been so successful I haven't seen a possum since and the canopy of the tree is regenerating. As I said - excellent result.

Hi Gwen
Thats great to hear, thanks for letting us know. Can you tell us what tree the possums where eating and was it ring tails or brushies
Regards Bird Gard
The tree is a 60 year old Photinia, evergreen, genus unknown, approximately 40 feet high. I don't know whether the possums are ring tailed or brush tailed. I don't see them, only hear them.

This really works!
After having several plants in my garden relentlessly targetted by the local possums for a couple of years now, I was keen to find out if this hi-tech solution worked as it claimed. I have to say I was pretty surprised at just how effective this has been! Before, the plants would have all their new shoots chewed off every 3-4 days without fail. Ever since setting up the Ultransonic Possum Deterrent, they haven't been touched at all, and it's been almost 3 weeks now, so I have to say this product does exactly as it claimed - it's very effective and I'm very happy!

This product is fantastic!
Dear BirdGard, I ordered the Bird Gard possum deterrent from the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney, at 4pm on 22 December, it was posted on 23 December and received by me on 24 December. That is world class, as the delivery distance is over 1,000KM, even more so remarkable in the week of Christmas. The product is wonderful, and is saving a number of deciduous trees in our garden, that the possums were devouring at night. Now the trees are recovering and during the daylight hours birds and our chickens are free to move around. I can hear it if I wa...Read more
lk in front to the sensor at night....like a high and variable pitch mozzie buzz. I don't mind this as I know it is doing something. As I am 60 years old, my hearing must be OK. I may order another to protect our front garden. All the best to you. Regards, Steve1 comment

Hello, I was wondering if the possum repeller would annoy small children at all. I have an 18 month old and so want to ensure this would not affect her or any future newborn children. Thanks.

It will depend on the individual. The device emits a very high frequency sound and I find that I can hear it and it does irritate me after a while, however the rest of my family can't hear it. We only have the device come on at once it's dark (when the possums are out) so it isn't an issue.
I understand that most young children are able to hear it. Our grandchildren can and it doesn't drive them away....... unfortunately (smile). I now wear hearing aids and can hear it. Doesn't annoy me either. I guess if the children, or me for that matter stayed in the zone of the noise, it could be troublesome but you do have to take care on targetting the device for it to be effective. Further, you could hook it up to a timing device to only operate after twilight. I when littlies should be in bed and possums go looking for food. Good luck.
Darren S.Bird Gard
Hi Shauna
Both Mathew and Happierjack have shared their own experiences. The Possum Deterrent emits high frequency sound. The average person will hear something if they are close, but they don't hear the high frequency sound that repels possums. However some people who have good high frequency hearing can hear it and don't always like. Like Mathew says it depends on the individual. The younger you are the more likely you'll have good high frequency hearing. Happierjack explains his grand children can hear but aren't that bothered by it. In other cases children don't like it so best to keep it turned off to after they are asleep. The possum deterrent comes with a 90 day money back guarantee.

My problem is possums in my tiled roof.
If I place the possum deterrent outside, facing back at the roof. In constant mode. Do the ultrasonic waves pass through the tiles or do I need to install it into the roof.
Thanks.
2 answers
The waves don't pass through the tiles, so by having it outside it would actually encourage the possums to move away from the device and probably back to a save haven (ie inside the roof). So to flush them out of the roof you'd need the device inside it
Darren S.Bird Gard
Hello Chris
Mathew is correct, to repel possums from inside a roof space, the device also needs to be inside the roof space. The question is where do you put the device ?. Most people will target where they think the possums are getting in OR where they hear them the most OR where they think the possums sleep during the day. One device has a max range of 10 metres when used inside a roof space. This means one device cant cover an entire roof space, but one device is often successful

Could this be used to deter a very annoying Tom cat?
2 answers
Mate, I don''t think this product will deter anything. In my opinion a waste of money.
There is a product called Dter which I have found works well.
Come back to me if you can't find it.
Darren S.Bird Gard
Hi mj
the possum deterrent has an adjustable dial that allows you to change the frequencies. To repel possums we use low frequencies, but they don't work against cats. To repel cats, rats etc we use the higher frequencies.
