Good suction, but parts don't last
After 3 short years, we've had to replace the hose, handle and fix the power cord. Also, the plastic base plate underneath is broken and bissel don't have a replacement part. I really expect a machine to last more than 3 years before having to send it to the tip... not a great way to save the planet when you have to replace a vacuum cleaner this fast. Very unhappy overall with this product. Suction is great which is why I'm trying to replace the parts, but having no luck so far...
Purchased in September 2021.

Great idea but horrible to use over time
I bought this vacuum approx. 3 years ago. I love the suction over carpet areas but once I had it for a while the problems kicked in. Firstly, the handle is not firm and secure and slides out too far without warning. This is a nuisance and stops you being able to move the vacuum to and fro without issue. You have to keep correcting the handle. However, the strongest problematic is the need to unscrew all the screws on the bottom when the hose becomes blocked. Even when all the screws are removed, it is actually very difficult to clear the hose....Read more
You can't simply pull it out and remove the blockage and put it back in place. There is inadequate allowance of hose 'flexibility' and room to do so. Because it is described as a 'pet' item I expected better and no doubt it may be for cats and dogs but when you have a different pet where straw/hay is part of the deal then the unit blocks quite quickly. It is a difficult vacuum to upturn and attempt to clear. It is bulky and awkward. If the hose aspect was easy to reach without the need for phillips screwdrivers it would be far better. Sure you can use the hand-held device but it was the strong suction performance over an area I was wanting and ultimately this has failed. My scenario may be more unique and without my issue no doubt the vacuum would be considered a more solid performer.Purchased in June 2021 at Appliances Online.

A great vacuum cleaner
This is an amazing vacuum cleaner. I use it once a week to do a proper clean after using a Dyson stick in between. I have a long haired cat who drops quiet a bit of hair and this picks it all up. You can detach the barrel and use the attachments to clean stairs, but it is a bit heavy when used this way.

Absolutely amazing!
Hands down the best vacuum I have ever used. It comes with so many attachments and is so easy to use on stairs. The cord is really long which saves me having to switch PowerPoints three times like I have had to in the past. Don’t know how I have lived without this vacuum!

part dont last
this vacuum are great but my only problem is when the rubber band that roll the roller keep snapping and have to order in spares, now the roller is faulty and cant find any replacement on the Bissell website which is frustrating...at least have the spares available for this model. Now looking for another vacuum.

Bissell has dropped the ball on Customer Service in Australia
Used for both carpet and hard floor. Used for a small 3 bdrm house. We bought 11 months ago but only started using in the last months 2 when our old 2750F bit the dust.
The power head works intermittently . The power cord guide under the handle broke the first time I used it. The head on the vacuum doesn't stayed clicked it so cannot move it easily when not in use. Phoned Appliance Warehouse where I bought it from. The bloke on the other end of the phone said he did not know what to do with a faulty machine and would ring Bissell and get ba...Read more

Does the job - just
Vacuum is quiet when not using the brush feature and is easy to manoeuvre however the suction is the downfall despite being the pet model the fluff from of cat and short haired dog still remain on the furniture after a vacuum. Also not great on floorboards lots of dust and dirt left behind.

The best vacuum I have owned
I'm not normally a person who gets excited about a vacuum cleaner however I love this one. I have a Newfoundland dog and previously have been sweeping the carpet then trying to vacuum it, there was still hair everywhere. I just got this one as it was a good price and it had good reviews. It picks up all his hair and my carpets are now clean. Plus it picks up all the other dirt and stuff. I'm no clean freak but this is the best. It is easy to maneuver and the lift off bit is great too. I found that fairly light to carry around. My only criticism is that the canister is fairly small which means more regular emptying.

The best designed vacuum anywhere in the world.
I purchased this vacuum in 2014 within a month of release here in Australia. what can I say it's awesome. the difference it makes having a rotating brush beating the dust out of the carpet and the pet hair it brings up is incredible. I wash the filters every month and it's been getting abused now for 3 years without a hiccup the attachments are plentiful and you could never use them all but great that it was thought about and comes with them.
The lift off function is great to walk around the house doing all the crevasses and cleaning out the car. I also own a bissell shampooer to match.

Gets the job done
I've had a few vacuum cleaners before and while I wouldn't say this is quite as good as a Dyson it's still good value for money and keeps the house clean. There's a couple minor issues - hair can get stuck in the machine and it's difficult to get out, the machine itself falls over if you stray a little too far with the attachments, etc. But these are all minor things and I recommend it if you can pick it up for around $300 - $400.

Efficiency at a sensible price.
At 1/2 to 1/3rd the price of other respected upright vacuum cleaners, the performance certainly isn't dictated by its price! I live in a fully carpeted house with two large dogs, and this unit has proven to be as good as, or better than other uprights I've trialled prior to purchasing my Bissell. Equally easy to use as a Shark or Dyson, but so much cheaper. I'm exceptionally pleased with my purchase.

Great Upright vac.
Looking to update our vac, wife wanted to return to an upright. Decided to check this out after reading a lot of good reviews. We liked what we saw at the shop and decided to buy it. Wife loves the the swivel head and the way the barrel comes apart for stairs and areas you cannot normally get to. Suction is terrific and feels like a good solid machine.

I have been proven wrong!!!!!
We needed a new vacuum cleaner that would lift up all the pet hair and dirt in the house, without spending an arm and a leg. The sales person had a variety of brands to offer, but recommended the Bissell Upright Lift Off Pet, for under $360.00 with a guarantee that if it did not remove all the pet hair and dirt they would gladly take it back and refund our money without question. Well, I was sceptical, but was I wrong!!! this vacuum picks up all the pet hair and is pulling up years of dirt that I did not realise was in the carpet. The carpet l...Read more
ooks clean and new again and is softer under the feet. Not bad for carpet that is over 20 years old. The unit came with all types of accessories, I cannot wait to see what it does to the curtains and furniture when I get around to them. The product is so good I would recommend it to anyone whether you have pets or not.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

The Cats are Innocent!!!
Astoundingly Powerful, the Bissell 2177 has impressed this dyson veteran! We bought it solely on pet-hair ability and it's proven my wife the underlying culprit (shhh! she might hear me!). It ripped away the cat fur easily and the power head checks showed Human hair tangling the tough little bristles. I'm occasionally fastidious and have no hesitation emptying the clear plastic barrel and clearing tangles as per the instructions. Many user reviews stress the value of careful cleaning but this clean-obsession capable guy is stunned at this unit'...Read more
s performance and I loved having to empty it every 5 minutes because it is really so rare to find a machine performing as promised! My carpets haven't looked as clean since fitting, and I feel certain subsequent vacuums will be easier and quicker; you can even set an air opening to weaken the suction if you like. With a heavy chassis for its plastic look this solid little vac has a bevvy of extra bits to play with, can work as those near indestructable metal hoovers used to, or be separated into a portable (back) pack with the shoulder strap for staircases and cars & heaps of scary extensions & implements of destruction! Our off-grid batteries appreciate the 5 Amp current load (add 1 more for the carpet power head) compared to 8-12A for "cheapos" we've bought that overheat or just die. I cannot think of any reasonable complaints; it actually pulls you along the carpet like it won't let go - it's terrific!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Amazed by this machine
I had my fourth Dyson upright die on me. Very hard to clean heaps of maintenance every vacuum. We and bought this today. Amazed at how much dirt and pet pir it lifted out of the same area I cleaned with my 3 year old Dyson earlier today. Heavy vacuum cleaner but it steers well. Tools easy to use. It cleaned fur off easily I didn't need to use the pet hair tool. A fried told me she has had hers for 8 years and works as good as the day she bought it. I did an area rug and the lounge room. Brilliant! It genuinely lifted the pile. Great machine.

Brilliant Vacuum
I cannot fault this awesome pet vacuum. My old barrel vac just wasn't doing it's job lifting all the dog hair and was damaging the walls. I bought the Bissell Lift-Off Pet vacuum on the spur of the moment and I'm so glad I did. Although sadly 3 days after buying the vac my beautiful dog was forced to be put to sleep. But a month on I'm still picking up dog hairs. I recommend this vacuum 100% and all the added accessories are also great. Well done Bissell.

Happy with my purchase
Purchased about a month ago from Harvey Norman for about $250 after my last vacuum wore through the last spare belt I could find for it. I thought the last vacuum was doing a good job until I saw how much dust and hair (moggie moulting season) this sucked out of the carpet. Came with an impressive and intimidating number of attachments that I doubt I will use the half of. A little heavy to use if you have muppet-arms or a bad back but then I assume those people would be looking for barrel type vacs. Not much good on hard floor as the brush and ...Read more
exhaust push debri around. You can turn the brush off easily which helps with this and to be honest, it doesn't bother me much as I use the floor wipe things to clean kitchen and bathroom anyway. Easy to empty and the lift off function has been useful to clean the car out. Overall, happy with my purchase and a good supplement to the Bissell carpet cleaner. Will post if I'm disappointed later down the track.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Loving it
I've had the previous model to this one, and have also had a Shark upright. This blows them both out of the water in terms of suction and power. The brush bar does wonders on carpet - it pulls out stuff I hadn't even seen before that my previous vacuum was clearly missing! It's reasonably light for an upright, and the canister is really easy to empty. For the price, and the 30 day trial period, this is a no-brainer! No regrets here!
