High repair cost for no result

published

Right hand large hot plate stopped working a few months ago. After approx 5 visits and $700 in charges from the appliance technician it is still not working- no-one will admit anything is wrong. As it has turned out I regret buying Blanco. Blanco customer care were polite but not helpful

High cost of repair

published

We love our induction hotplates but at four and a half years old we had to have one hot plate replaced and it cost $530 for the part and labour. The whole unit under the glass was taken out and replaced and then this complex electronic unit is just thrown away. We are just hoping no more of our hotplates stop working. It seems way too early in the life of the appliance and it is very expensive.

cracked cook top

published

my wife was using our Blanco induction cooktop and a lid slipped of a pot and now our cooktop has cracked. Blanco refused to repair under warranty. i think a cooktop should be able to with stand a incident like this. before we brought it they tell you how tough the glass is. we were quoted $753 to replace the glass.

Not a Good Choice

published

I bought this Blanco Bic63 from Harvey Norman, cost over 1k, like the design, used for few years, suddenly the 2 left hand side hot plates started to gave problems, like everyone having....after reading all the reviews on this product. I bought a cheaper Nardi induction for replacement, and still happy with the cheaper version....

Very disappointed customer - 1 year out of warranty

published

We bought this Blanco induction cooktop a few years ago when we updated our kitchen. It was recommended by Harvey Norman. Large hotplate (which had not had a lot of use) worked spasmodically for a few weeks then failed completely. Warranty ended last year. Had a repairman attend yesterday who advised motherboard gone and not worth repairing. Said it would be cheaper to buy a new one than fix. Advised he had numerous problems with this brand. Not to throw good money after bad. This hotplate was not cheap and I am very disappointed in this brand. Would not recommend at all.

Failed twice

published

Left side failed while just outside warranty and was fixed by blanco, six months later other side died. I was told by the person who repaired the first time it would cost about $700 just for the part. We have had problems with other Blanco product and would NEVER buy a product from them again.

Failed within 2 yrs, warranty not honored

published

We had this cooktop as part of new home purchased, two right plates failed within 2 yrs. Rang blanco customer service, got the run around uploading photos only to be told they won't honour the warranty quoting some crap about installation not meeting product manual (Have spoken to our builder who confirms install was fine, have also gone through the manual line by line and can confirm it meets all clearance specified).
Total POS product with no service. Stay away if you can.

Two right hand elements failed

published

I have had this cooktop for a few years and the two right hand burners have stopped working. Called local Port Macquarie service and for $120.00 they told me they don't work and $580.00 to fix. Seems like these Blanco cooktops fail more than others. Not happy as they were not cheap to begin with

Have spent more money fixing than the original unit cost

published

Bought this unit 3 years ago (BIC63). It became faulty just out of warranty requiring replacement of powerboard $370 + labour. Unit became faulty again within another 12months of original repair and have now had it assessed and it needs 2 x new powerboards ($720 plus labour). I have spent more money fixing it than what the unit cost.
Reconsider your purchase!!!

Replaced Within A Year

published

Sold a floor model by Harvey Norman (who were probably glad to get rid of it). Large element stopped working within a year and the two smaller elements failed about 2 months after. Should have read the reviews before we bought it as this seems a common fault. Will probably buy another brand as repairing does not sound cost effective.

Loved at first, now no love at all

published

Purchased from Harvey Normans because we liked the idea of the large hot plate. Have already replaced LHS motherboard at over $400.00 and now RHS is not working. Costs now quoted at over $500. So disappointed by this item, thinking about changing to another brand and getting rid of Blanco. Cooktop only 3 years old.

Very dissappointed

published

We went for the bic63, which we purchased from harvey Norman. In the first half year the big hot plat did not heat evenly, only the inner part worked not the outer, repaired that under warranty. Just a few months after warranty the 2smaller hot plates started playing up, and now after 3 years don't work at all. Love the idea of induction cook top, but this Blanco is a failure. It was expensive and make me doubt induction technology. Unfortunately I do not have gas on the street, otherwise I would have installed a gas cooktop.
Need to replace, not sure what to go for?

Waste of Money

Disappointing POS. Cooktop failed (both sides) one year out of warranty. too expensive to repair and service agent can't guarantee same won't happen again. No parts in stock 4 weeks wait ex Italy.
Blanco Customer service won't answer the phone or reply to emails. Cheaper to buy another brand and get new warranty.
Looked great in the kitchen.
3 years old and it died! Customer service are vaporware!

Same here... replace motherboard while under warranty but now is again on blink (same problem with RHS element not working) and just 3 years old. Seems like the manufacturer has an obligation here to rectify/recall this product at their expense.

Precise control, instant heat and excellent looks and cleanup

published

I have had my Blanco induction cooktop for nearly three years and have found it an absolute revelation. It's much faster than gas, more precise and SO easy to clean.

On pulse, the kettle starts boiling almost instantly, but for delicate sauces the controls are so precise they never burn or curdle. It looks brilliant on our black benchtops, just about disappears.

I have given up using the electric frypan and jug, just use this for everything, often three times a day.
Precise control, elegant design, easy to clean and efficient
I probably should have bought a 4 burner, but loved the compact size of the three

I have had this Blanco BIC63 induction cooktop for 3 years now. I chose it because it had the 3 zones with the larger 28cm zone, but when I put 28cm pots and pans on it, the power only comes on in bursts, maybe there is something wrong with the detection system? or that's just the way it is. And the zone that boils a pot of water quickest is the 16cm zone? how does that work?!!!
Powerful, but on the wrong zone, love the 3 zone cooktop for the larger pots and pans on the 28cm zone.
The power only comes in bursts for bigger pans, sometimes it is constant but rarely. Not sure about the power rating advisertised for the zones, lowest power seems to be the most powerful zone?

I bought this cooktop as we could not get gas in our area. These do heat up much faster than conventional electric cooktops, but the heat comes in bursts which makes cooking some foods difficult and is not the same as cooking with gas. The cooktops also draw a lot of electricity, which I did not realise until installed.
Heats up fast and is easy to clean. Also looks nice and fits in great with our black granite benchtops.
Doesn't produce a constant heat like gas, the induction seems to work in bursts. I find it difficult to get the temperature right and often burn food with it.

BIC63 / BIC64

Can you recommend a frying pan that will work on the 28cm hot plate of the BIC63? I have tried many brands and I am yet to find one that will activate the entire heating element. So far, all pans that I have used only activate the inner heating surface about 16cm across.

I brought my fry pan from Kmart. I think it was just one of their homebrands. It is, however, only a 23 or 24 cm base and it seems to heat to the edges well enough.

IKEA cookware every time, the 365+ range is excellent and cheap, and has always worked perfectly on our Blanco BIC63. I was amazed reading about all these problems with Blanco induction hobs; clearly we have been lucky, we have had NO problems at all with this induction cooktop, it has worked perfectly for nearly nine years. However, we are just intalling stone bench tops and will probably buy an Ikea appliance (the Hogklassig model induction cooktop) to go with our Ikea pans. It's $1399 against $2700 for the Blanco.
