Good oven
Have had this oven about four years, as a replacement for another brand that couldn't keep a reliable and constant temperature. In that area, this oven has worked great. We have used the pyrolytic clean function probably about 10 times, and so far, no cracked glass. (Did you hear a Hallelujah from me?). However, we used that function last night - all OK - it cleaned well. However, the next bake, with an oven thermometer sitting inside, the temperature was about 25 degrees C out. I verified the temperature with a non-contact IR tester when w...Read more
e opened the door. Oven was hotter than dial by about 25 degrees C. Result was a severely burnt cake. Turned off. And yes, the thermostat was controlling the element - you could hear it clicking on and off. An hour later, my wife had another go. This time the temperature was accurate. Again checked with oven thermometer and IR tester. Is it going to stay accurate? I guess one can only hope... I have not read of this happening to any others, so thought I would add it here. And after reading the other reviews, I am now wondering how long until the glass cracks...

Do not trust the self cleaning on this oven
As far as the oven it's self is concerned it is very good.
The only very strong criticism I have is we had used the self cleaning devise twice before with no problem and it did clean the oven perfectly, however on the third occasion we did exactly the same as we did on the previous two occasions and just as the self clean was about to finish there was a big crash and what had happened was one of the inner pieces of glass had shattered and hot glass fell on to the floor damaging the floor covering which I am now trying to claim on my insurance. ...Read more
When I notified Bosch about what had happened they showed no concern whatsoever, all they were interested in was, :- is it still under warranty which it wasn't so they said there was nothing they could do for me although they did say they could send an engineer out at the cost of £99.00 plus what was needed to fix the door. As it turned out I only needed one piece of glass which cost £55.66 including postage and I fitted it my self. I have been told by Bosch that if the same thing was to happen again with this new glass It still would not have any warranty at all, so I doubt if we will ever use the self clean again as we would not feel safe and we certainly do not trust it!!! If you are thinking of buying this model then do yourself a favour and buy the exact same model but without the self cleaning device and save £199.00 as that is how much cheaper it is, as what is the point of having this device if you can't trust it to be safe to use. A note to Bosch :- you should be ashamed to know that your oven is untrustworthy and dangerous and especially as you do not seem to care about what has happened here.

Very Happy
Very Happy- I purchased a HBA63S4.1A just over 3 years ago. It replaced a fully functioning oven ( not BOSCH ) that was over 20 years old. There was a fault with the oven, but Bosch fixed it for free - very good service.

Good oven, but element failed shortly out of warranty
We are faily happy with the oven and it cooks well, however, the main element in the fan force section burnt out after only about 2-3 years service. We had to have it replaced and the spare parts are very expensive and when the element was being replaced, some of the screws are already rusty and parts of the oven body are corroding away..
Purchased in November 2021.

Love this oven
We had this oven in a previous house and decided to install the same one when we recently renovated our kitchen. It looks great, is easy to use and easy to clean thanks to the pyrolytic function. Importantly, I really like the way this cooks. We do a lot of roasting and this cooks perfectly in minimal time. We did consider the Serie 8 model however didn’t feel like we needed the extra bells and whistles. For the price, this oven was great value.

We have bought and own many Bosch products but this is disappointing. Pyrolytic cleaning has failed.
We own Bosch dishwashers, hot water systems and washing machines, thus we purchased the Self Cleaning Bosch oven from The Good Guys and it's been a fantastic oven. We have only used the Pyrolytic function maybe five or six times (after cooking pork roasts etc) of which the function cleans well - but we went to use it the other day and it fails to activate. We have read all the posts on here and see others have had quite a few faults. We thought this oven would last for more than 5 or 6 years as it wasn't cheap and repair people don't seem to want to know about it.. Have to think twice next time we purchase an oven as to whether to spend the extra dollars on Bosch is worth it. :(

SPARKS FLY!!!!Beware of Bosch Series 6 ovens!
We have purchased Bosch products for over 10 years but no more. I have a registered Series 6 HBA63S451A 60 cm Built-in Oven purchased from Harvey Norman Fyshwick ACT. Just as the warranty has lapsed the oven completely blew today with a loud bang and "SPARKS" flying everywhere!!!! Very dangerous.
This happened while "TURNING OFF" the Pyrolytic function. That’s right, not turning it on, not during, but turning it off. Even sparks. WOW!!!! I presume the circuit board is fried!
Very disappointed with Bosch! Typical of a major appliance dying just out of warranty!!!

Quality, stylish and functional
The oven cooks beautifully. Temperature is consistent and well distributed throughout the oven. It pulls air in rather than push it out making it an interesting feature though haven't really noticed any benefit from it (nor any negative). One minor annoying issue is that when you stand too close in front of the oven (presumably) blocking air flow, it sets off a beeping alarm, even when the oven is off. Maybe there is a way to disable this, but I haven't found it yet

Great oven but...
Happy with this oven (so far). It works well for my purposes, though I only use it for the occasional roast or biscuits. I love the pyroclean function, it's brilliant, have used it a few times now. The function knobs are easy to use. My only annoyance is the timer and the other digital settings requiring pressing the + or - button to increase or decrease time. Very fiddly, would much rather have a knob or dial.
One obvious design flaw - there is only a millimetre clearance between the extendable rail ends when pushed in as far as they go, an...Read more
d the glass door! It would be really easy to smack the door against them every time you use the oven, as the rails can look pushed in, but can be out by just a millimetre. Having read the other reviews about the door glass cracking (!!!) I've been very wary of this and very careful not to let anything knock the glass door. A friend has the exact same oven - and yes, her door has cracked! She's had it less than two years.1 comment

After having these appliances for over 2 years now...thought id review them again. Still very happy with both items. The cooktop is still brilliant to use....even if the largest zone is getting slightly scratched and discoloured from use. The oven is still great too...
Used the pyroytic function lots of times...and still never had a problem!
Would still recommend them both!

Worst oven
Worst thing I ever did was buy this oven. First use the glass smashed. I reported to store who I bought who told me to deal with Bosch directly. Very bad experience dealing with Bosch also. Advised this is a minor fault and after 4 weeks they replaced glass only. We have now used oven 4 times and last night the glass smashed again and food (being steak) thrown in bin. I'm now going to fair trading and will be demanding full refund. As far as I'm concerned this is not good enough. We were very fortunate that there was no major injuries.

Cracked internal glass door
First time using self cleaning pyrolitic function. Have cleaned manually previously as even though bought thinking this function would be great, was just unsure. (OLD school thinking). Anyway thought I'd give it a go. Followed instructions as per manual. Loud bang about 30mins into clean. Inside glass panel major crack spanning right across width of panel. Not happy at all. Oven has been superb until this happened.

Wouldn't buy anything else!
Did my research and found this oven to be top notch. Not the cheapest but one the best on the market. Had it for 8 years with not single issue and we use it constantly. The self cleaning function is amazing. Leave it to clean overnight, then use a moist rag to wipe away the 'dust'. Highly recommended.

Impressive Oven.
My old oven died so I had to make a quick decision on a new one. This one was on special at the Good Guys, with a $200 eftpos card thrown in. It wasn't the cheapest pyrolytic oven there but it felt the sturdiest, the door feels really solid, the glass stays cool with normal cooking.
I was sold on the idea of it being Pyrolytic - cleaning the oven is a chore I am sure every woman loathes. The oven cooks very evenly, heats up quickly and looks pretty good too. The only thing I find strange is when I open the door I get a blast of very hot air...Read more

Light not working
After using the self cleaning feature the oven light failed to come on. Replaced the globe, still not on. Called service and has been diagnosed as a faulty circuit board. All other function working OK. Quote to have the light working again $426.80. An excessive amount of money to have the light again in the oven.

Inner glass oven door cracked.
Q1 yes Q2 Performs as well as former not so expensive ovens. Extremely disappointed as stove was not installed till 2013 after new kitchen completed in our new purchase of a home. Have used pyrogenic clean only twice. After cooking evening meal of baked chicken there was no breakage but following evening when attempting to remove a rack noticed severe breakage. We feel we paid a substantial sum for a brand we considered superior to others but feel the price of the inner glass (seemingly a common fault) unacceptable and feel another brand replacement
more appropriate if bosch dose not come to the party and renew the glass.

Disappointed after 3 years the back panel has rusted out!
We loved our oven. We purchased it 3 years ago when we renovated our kitchen. Took 12 weeks before it was delivered to us and an remained packaged for a month before it was installed in our new kitchen. After a week of use we noticed the entire front panel has surface rust appearing. We contacted The Good Guys who were miserable to deal with. We were accused of cleaning our oven with chemicals and sprays. They even went to the extent of telling us the powder we wash our tea towels with was causing the rust! It seemed every time we opened our o...Read more
ven the steam coming out was causing it. After much back and forth they said that Bosch were going to send us a "Clean Protect" kit. It contained a cleaning powder "wiener Kalk"and a Conditioning cloth. The Kalk immediately removed the surface rust with a little elbow grease and followed by the cleaning cloth we hadn't a problem since, or so we thought... The fact that it seemed to had not been sealed correctly in the factory weighed on our minds a little however we were assured that this problem had been fixed and the guys at Bosh were very helpful. For 2 years our oven has been wonderful. We used the Pyrolytic function with no problems at all (such a cracking glass, etc. as mentioned in other reviews). Heats up quickly and functions well. Small things we noticed when cooking was the back of the oven is always hotter and tend to cook baked items such as cookies more on the rear of the tray. A few times the grill setting failed to work and we've had to turn the oven off and on again for the element to work - I put it down to not turning the knobs clockwise to start it?). 2 weeks ago I discovered 2 screws in the bottom of the oven. I soon discovered they had fallen out of the back plate (the piece that covers the fan) when I went to put them back in the holes it seemed the metal behind it had rusted out. I contacted Bosch who told me the oven is out of warranty and we would need an authorised repairer to come out and fix it and we would be up for the cost. Sadly a third screw has now rusted out. I unscrewed the last remaining screw to see why we could screw the fallen screw out back in and discovered every screw hole behind the plate has a hole rusted out to the size of a 5 cent piece!! We are now waiting for the Bosh repairer to come out next week and tell us what we are up for to have this fixed This alone is a $99 call out - I'm not sure how he plans on fixing rust holes.. Utterly devastated at this stage as by the looks of it as it is one solid piece that wraps around the inside of the oven it may mean that this is a total write off. For a $1500 oven that has been used for only 3 years I am hoping that Bosh could look at some kind of compensation. Our previous oven was still going strong after 10 years, we only chose to replace it as we wanted all new appliances when renovating. I wonder if this is one of the reasons this model has been discontinued? Hoping its an easy fix! Will post back on the outcome.2 comments

oles rusting out in a few more months. I went back and forth to Bosch and their service repairer a couple of times and we had an excellent outcome. Bosch have replaced our oven with another model up. With the removal of our existing faulty oven and installation covered by them within weeks of having the repairman out. Great outcome and couldn't be happier with the communication from Bosch. Their local repair company could have been better - such as getting in contact with us when the oven was at their depot instead of waiting for us to query. However, all in all a great outcome. Our new oven already as exceeded our expectations. We have used it multiple times now and there is no rusting on the front panel (like the last did within the first use). Have yet to use the pyrolytic function and no doubt wont be using it for a while yet so I can't comment on anything further. Thank-you for your help and a quick resolution Bosch!Similar opinion? Poor construction. Pyro cracked glass first time used. Buyer beware
Purchased this oven in 2013 and used the pyro function for the first time today. An hour into cleaning and the glass has cracked. Called up Bosch and they said its out of warranty and I would have to fill out forms explaining myself again and plead with them to fix this for me.
This product is not doing what its meant to do which is self clean.
Stay away and spend your money elsewhere.

Internal oven door glass cracked after self clean.
Buyers Beware: Ran the Self Cleaning Function today and 30 minutes Into the Cycle I heard a loud sound! Looked closely at the door panel and to my surprise the internal glass panel contained a crack stretching the width of the panel. An online search revealed that other buyers have also reported glass panels cracking.
I had no issues the first time I ran the self cleaning cycle. I followed the instruction manual on both occasions. The oven is just under 3 years old & as good as new.
Will report this incident to Bosch for a manufacturing defect.
Hope I wont have a battle on my hands trying to resolve this matter.
Will think twice about running the self cleaning function again!

Constantly cracking glass
We bought this oven in 2013 for almost $1700. The glass cracked in 2015, days outside the warranty period and again recently (2016). Both incidents occurred when drops of cold water/sauce came into contact with the glass door. She made numerous complains with Customer Service but unfortunately there was little support provided. She ended up repairing it for $400 each time. It's extremely disappointing for a reputable brand like Bosch to have such a poor quality product at such a high price. One cannot help but wonder if the product is defective.
