Door Glass Panel Cracked
Buyers Beware: Ran the Self Cleaning Function today and 30 mins Into the Cycle (Medium Setting), I heard a loud sound ! Looked closely at the door panel and to my surprise the internal glass panel contained a crack stretching the width of the panel. An online search revealed that other buyers have also reported glass panels cracking.
I had no issues the first time I ran the self cleaning cycle. I followed the instruction manual on both occasions. The oven is just under 3 yrs old & as good as new.
Will report this incident to Bosch for a manufacturing defect.
Hope I wont have a battle on my hands trying to resolve this matter.
Will think twice about running the self cleaning function again !!!

With any oven, especially the pyro, it's important to not put things on the glass door and to wipe off any spills especially sugars as they can scratch the glass therefor cracking the glass under high temperature. Hope this helps.
I just purchased this oven, and ran the cleaning cycle to get rid of the "new oven" smell, and the glass shattered, scared me to death... I haven't even gotten to use the darn thing, now I have to wa... Read more

Self-Cleaning actually made me dance with glee!
What a fantastic oven. I can not rave enough - I finally tried the self cleaning feature a few days ago and was seriously amazed! I am so used to buying things that never live up but this is seriously great. No more stinky oven cleaners and painful elbows and backs! I just assumed that taking the rails out would be effort but so easy. The oven heats up so fast which is great when you have kids demanding food right now.
Self cleaning! Fast.
Personally thought a great price but could be too expensive to some - but seriously, the self cleaning is worth it!

We are both absolutely over the moon with this oven!
I read just about every review on this web site about ovens. I searched stores and was quite seduced by the features and the "prettiness" of some. Then I came back and read the reviews and changed my mind. Just about every oven has many negative reviews except for Miele and Bosch. I do not understand why such a simple device should have so many problems with quality and reliability. I wanted a quality product and some of the nicest looking ones were made in very strange places. Why for instance would I want to buy a nice looking oven with a ver...Read more
y Italian name which is made in Turkey! Service? Parts? So disappointed that the once reliable Fischer and Paykel are now made "overseas" Thailand, China, the Hindu Kush, Who knows where? I had St George 25 years ago. Absolutely Brilliant! I had St George 8 years ago....it broke on the first day, was fixed and then broke again! Well, the beautiful Miele was out of my league and the Bosch looked just fine. Now we had just bought a Bosch dishwasher, yes a real German one Made In Germany not China or Brazil! It is brilliant and Mr Bosch has performed faultlessly every day and we are so happy with it. So my wife said that we better buy a Bosch oven because quality and reliability after all is very important. It was installed by me after electrical connections were professionally done. We tried it out over and over and it is truly brilliant. The temp control is so accurate we have used it to make yoghurt. We have cooked perfect steaks in it. Fish dishes are fantastic and as for the bread and baking...brilliant! The shelf positions are excellent and they are very sturdy. The pans in this oven are of excellent quality. The touch screen I find is not fiddly once you become familiar. What is more, the oven is very quiet and fast! No probs in keeping it clean either. Piece of cake! What an excellent oven, puts nearly all others to shame for quality and reliability. Best decision we have made for years.5 comments

al. Also tonight we pulled the door apart (its meant to do this) so you can get rid of the annoying streak down the door that always happens when you clean the glass. The best. Also makes it easier to clean the rest of the oven...the self clean function makes this easy but you still need to wipe around the door part.Thank you a well rounded review

king times. The Bosch is so much more efficient and there was an initial tendency for US to be totally wrong in our cooking estimates. Cakes, bread and biscuits cooked perfectly to the minute. But with meat etc, learning to slightly under cook was important. When cooking meat, we found that unlike the old oven, the Bosch cooked right through the meat efficiently and evenly and to borrow a phrase from Heston Blumenthal, the digital thermometer is your best friend. Slightly undercook, then rest, covered. If there was any serious criticism to make at all about the oven is that the small "self clean" touch segment of the panel is a little sensitive (poor dear) and my wife is forever telling me that I have accidentally turned that function on (yet again). Would I recommend this oven? Yes of course I would and it would be a fine day if other former well known manufacturers would lift their game and achieve the same quality and efficiency. But I would like to make a very serious point about Bosch. It is all very well to hear the name Bosch and think of German quality and with our German oven that is exactly what we got...quality. Bosch should be proud of its reputation and protect it WHEREVER they are made. But Bosch products now are made in many countries and based upon experience I would have great reservations in buying major Bosch products made for example in China, Turkey or wherever they have set up factories. I used to be a fan of Fischer and Paykel products when they were made in NZ, we then got quality and reliability. But they have now moved off shore and quality seems to have suffered, just like so many others.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

It's a dream!!
What bliss! This is the best oven I've ever had the pleasure of owning. I love the rapid heat function and the hot air grill is great for crispy skin on duck and chicken etc.The pyrolytic cleaning function is unbelievable - so thorough. My husband is more adventurous when he uses it and is finding functions that I wasn't aware it had. The only negatives are the lips on the oven racks, but I can live with them for the time being until I get some telescopic ones. All in all, I'm very happy indeed.
Pyrolytic cleaning. Rapid heat function. Hot air grilling. Cooling fan. Retractable knobs.
Lips on the oven racks - not user friendly. Symbols around the dials are a bit too small to read easily.

Fantastic - best value for money oven on the market
We bought 2 of the Bosch pyrolitic ovens last year and they have been a joy to work with. They heat up unbelievably fast, cook evenly and the pyrolitic feature is the bees knees. The bottom of my oven was absolutely coated from spillovers that I hadn't bothered to clean up, I honestly didn't think the oven could clean those up-but voila, 2 hours later all gone. Also I bought the triple glazed model not the quarduple glazed model (more expensive) and was worried that my children would burn their hands on the doors - not so. Even on the top p...Read more
yrolitic function which heats the oven up to 500deg I think, the oven is warm/hot not scalding. And finally, we just sold our house- big selling point was the double pyrolitic ovens in the kitchen! quick heat up, pyrolitic cleaning, even temp the lip on the oven racks makes pulling heavy dishes out a bit awkward - go for the telescopic shelves if you can.Similar opinion? Excellent Oven!!!!
After months of research and reviewing information I purchased the Bosch. I was lucky enough to get it on special. Huge space inside to cook biscuits trays side by side. Has excellent heat control and I have successfully cooked delicate pastries, meringues, roasts, grilled the top of gratins. Looks fantastic and fits in so well in my modern kitchen. Easy to wipe down and clean. More than impressed!
Spacious, accurate heat settings, cooks well, value for money
Oven trays have a lip on the front so you cannot slide uncooked dishes easily into the oven. Once I got used to it, it's a great oven!!!!

I am in the process of getting a Bosch double oven (HBM43s550A) but seems unable to find where it is manufactured. can someone point me to a site? Chat with salesman states it is made in Germany.

s old. The hotplates discoloured within the first 6 months and Bosch replaced the top skin, which is fine. However the microwave surround and oven doors are now discolouring. The range hood has a different finish and is fine. At the same time we purchased a dishwasher and fridge/freezer from different manufacturers and the stainless steel finish is fine. I only clean appliances with soapy water or an Enjo cloth. For the price paid we are disappointed for the poor quality of the finish. I also found out that the products are made in different counties i.e. Turkey, France and UK which, I would assume, have different quality controls. Contact Bosch and they are sending out a cleaning product to see if that restores the stainless steel finish. Will wait and see.Hello, we're looking at buying a either a Miele or Bosche oven and after reading your comments, concerned about the quality, in particular the finish. Can you please advise if the cleaning product sent to you has worked? Thank you.

Great oven!
Cooks wonderfully. Roasts, cakes, biscuits, pies, grilled meat all turn out perfect. The wire rack is wide enough for 2 muffin pans. It comes with a roasting dish, baking dish and grill and 2 racks. All of which work well. I haven't used the pyrolytic function yet, but for the first time i'm looking forward to cleaning my oven. The triple glazed door is so safe for little hands - I'm glad we didn't pay extra for the 'cool touch' door, as it is unnecessary (but as I say, we haven't used the pyrolytic function yet).
Reliable. Good value for money.
Slightly hotter at the rear of the oven, so you need to rotate cakes and muffins during cooking. Not a big deal.

he oven. Can you please tell us when using the fan oven do you notice excessive amounts of air/heat being expelled into the kitchen. Our last oven was situated behind me when working at the bench and it became most uncomfortable. It appears all ovens are now front venting but some have higher levels of output from the front than others. We bought 2 Bosch pyrolitic ovens a year ago - they are under bench (beneath the hob) and Ive never noticed the hot air coming out while Im cooking on the hob, so it must be pretty minimal.
I agree with blossom46, we have Bosh pyrolytic oven and minimal air venting from oven. Hope this helps

Love this oven!
Heats fast, cooks well, will give nice browning on a roast, nice variety of settings, easy to use, looks good, easy cleaning, nice trays come with it that are easy to clean too.
Most everything. Gets a nice brown and crispy layer on top of things you want brown and crispy. So easy to use! My cooking has definitely improved with this oven and it makes me want to cook!
Has some "hot spots". But like all ovens, you gotta know where to place things.

Changed my kitchen!
This has changed the way we cook - quickly heats up, so easy to clean, cooks absolutely beautifully. I am positively inspired to roast and bake with this oven, the results are fantastic. It's very quiet and very well insulated. Not sure if oven technology has changed so much or our old oven was hopeless, but this is so much better.
Looks good, works even better

Always buy quality over price
Like a few others, we put a new kitchen in our house and always were going to by all Bosch Products. This oven cleans its self, heats up quickly (Even Quicker if you push the quick heat button) and cooks to perfection every time. The stainless steel finish is easy to clean on the out side and you we will never have to worry about cleaning out the inside as it cleans its self. Just give it a wipe out when its finished the cleaning cycle.
Cooks very well, looks great and easy to use.
Push out knobs feel a little flimsy but haven't failed us yet!

Great oven, good price!
So in love with my new oven! Our 15 year old oven died and orginally I did not want to spend this much on an oven but so happy I did!
It looks great and so easy to use and clean. The different cooking types are great and gives you more choice than a standard oven. Best thing - it heats up SO quickly - a huge positive for me.
My ONLY complaint is I find the touch screen to set the oven timer annoying and fidly to use...
super fast to heat up, looks great, easy clean
I find the touch screen timer annoying and fiddly to use. The rest is great.

Where the time usually is on the oven is gone and now it says c01 and when you click the clock symbol it does nothing.

Bosch H.Bosch Home Appliances
Hi Brady,
Thanks for your question regarding the Bosch HBA63S451A.
The c01 would seem to indicate the appliance is in the basic settings. The clock button needs to be held for 4 seconds in order to apply them and get back to functionality. If you've definitely done this then a service call would be recommended.
If you need any more help, feel free to contact us on 1300 369 744.
