Quick Wash 29 minutes cycle taking too long.
Bought Bosch Series 4 dishwasher 3 days ago and the
1) quick cycle takes 50min to complete. There is an additional 25 min added to all wash cycles . I Have done a hard and soft reset and there is plenty of rinse aid and that didn’t help.
2) And a strange loud ticking noise near the end of the wash cycle and it’s not the dishes.
3) There is also a very bad fishy smell with the dishwasher. very disappointed. Expected more from Bosch as all our white good are Bosch. and had no problems in the past. Saying that this dishwasher was made in Turkey, all other Bosch products we had were made in Germany.
Purchased in April 2021 at Bing Lee Physical store for $699.00.

Perfect now but smelly at first
I bought this dishwasher as a replacement for my 12 year old Westinghouse. As a replacement Westinghouse wasn't immediately available I opted for this Turkish made Bosch. The machine emitted a foul, plastic/chemichal/fishy smell from the first time I used it. After trying dishwasher cleaners and
bi-carb/vinegar and running lots of hot cycles, I asked for a technician to check the machine. I should add that the machine has always cleaned the dishes perfectly. The technician checked the machine and agreed that it smelled bad, however he assured me that it would go away. It took about three months but he was right. I now love this machine.
Purchased in December 2021 at Bing Lee for $695.00.

STINKS - do not buy
How did I miss the endless reviews about the toxic stench coming from the dishwasher? I have had breathing trouble and an endless headache since installing it. We have tried all of the suggestions to address but it is still terrible. The dishwasher is basically unuseable. The stench permeates through the house. The layout inside and cleaning ability are great, but there is no way anyone should consider buying one due to the toxic smell.

Quiet and cleans ok BUT.... foul smell after washes
First let me state that i am a long time advocate of Bosch products from car parts to white goods. I'm also no stranger to dishwashers having used them for the past 30+ years. So when i needed a new dishwasher there was no second guess what i was getting, but a Bosch of course.
Firstly the good. Design appearance is fine and operating it lives up to the 46db rating best i can tell. Layout inside suits us perfectly. Nice and quiet. After first few washes we're more than happy.

foul smell. In short order we track it back to the dishwasher. That's odd we think. We thoroughly check it out for any food residue, the filter etc but of course its clean as a whistle being so new. We check the drain pipe, its still looped up high as it should be and everything looks good. Stumped. It smells like a combination of plastic/chemical and moisture with a dose of just utter foulness. Really quite bad, no way can leave it open without having to leave the room! It is definitely not coming from our existing drain its 100% the dishwasher itself. Worst yet, it often leaves the smell on the dishes. WTH! 6 weeks on now and the issue persists despite every trick we know. A bit of googling and we find hundreds of other people with identical complaints in multiple countries!! So here we are, what appears to be one heck of a design fault and/or dodgy quality parts.... we're left to wonder. What has happened to the company we've had such a great experience with their products for decades? Now left with a flawed smelly dishwasher contemplating how we move forward and whether we'll need to resort to australian consumer law to get a solution.Purchased in December 2021 at Appliances Online.

Good dishwasher, does its job.
Good dish washer and never had nay problems and worth buying it and it unique design and the ease of the use .would run even on dishwasher power which is cheap

An excellent dishwasher for the price
We bought our Bosch dishwasher earlier this year. It has worked reliably and we are very happy with it. It is super quiet to the point we sometimes can't even tell if it is on. The dishes come clean 99% of the time with only a couple of occasions where some dirt has remained. We don't rinse before loading.

Quiet, effective but cutlery tray seriously limits capacity
We have had and loved Bosch dishwashers for more than 30 years. So thought it safe to buy online without seeing in person. Ordered made in Turkey model (Serie 4) this time after reading good reviews. Big mistake. Main issue is the position of the cutlery tray. It sits horizontal (instead of vertical in our old models) and blocks us using the space on either side for plates. Basically, if we use the cutlery tray, half the lower rack can only be used for small non-plate items. To use the space fully, we have to leave out the cutlery tray. Also,...Read more
the plate holder slots are close and we cannot put one plate in each slot without the edges touching the next one limiting load again. Have learnt the hard way - always check out major appliances in person before buying online. Operation is quiet. It has lots of eco-friendly cycles. Auto wash leaves items wet so they need to be hand dried. Super wash with extra dry option leaves items dry (except for plastics) but probably uses the most electricity.1 comment

My Dishwasher Series 4 is showing Error Code E 19, I cannot find any reference to this error in your manual. Please advise how to set this error right. Or where is Error Code 19 shown on your Manual.

This isn't the Bosch Home web site, it's an independent review site.
Anyway, the manual says for error codes E01-E30 not detailed in the manual:
"Switch off appliances with the ON/OFF switch
After a short time restart the appliance.
If the problem recurs, turn off the tap and pull out the mains plug.
Call customer service and mention the error code."
This is on page 29 of the manual.

Just bought the sms46gw01a, our previous washer was connected to the hot water, I thought this one would be too but it doesn’t have the A00/A01 setting so I’m guessing it doesn’t. Am I still able to use hotwater or do I need to replumb?

Hi Trevor, we had it fitted by the installer from Appliances Online so I didn't do this myself. From memory, it only uses the cold water so I assume it heats the water up within the machine itself.
