Disappointed
We had a Bosch HSB838357A 900 cm upright stove installed last week. From the first time we used the oven we were dismayed. Once the oven has reached the required temperature, the thermostat then clicks on and off at 30 - 60 second intervals. (And the click is loud enough to be heard from a couple of rooms away). I contacted Support at Bosch who advised it sounded like it was part of the normal function of the oven, as it was maintaining the correct temperature. I queried why an oven of this calibre would need to re-set so frequently. ...Read more
My neighbour has a large oven that cost about a third of the price of ours and has no such issue with it! My daughter has a Bosch (similar size, different model) and the thermostat manages to maintain a constant temperature and certainly doesn't make a constant, irritating noise. We logged a service call, thinking that there had to be a fault with this stove, however the serviceman said, that although the noise was quite loud, it appeared to be "normal" for this particular oven. To say we are disappointed is an understatement.

So far so good
Cooks stuff, easy to use. Stove works well. Oven works well. Bit smaller than other ovens the same size, but has not failed yet. Cakes came out evenly cooked. Pizza was cooked correctly too. Even temperature. Glass is not hot when the oven is on either. We've only had it for a month though. Turns on and off when you want. Beeps when oven hits the right temperature. Settings are intuitive and easy to use. You can honestly use it without needing to refer to the manual each time. Although you should read it the first time. Can be cleaned. Parts seem robust enough.

Great new cooker
We needed to replace our Lofra cooker who was giving us problems for the last few months. I am big fan of Bosch and looked into their line. I looked into different options like Miele, Fisher $ Paykel and Westinghouse. However the Costumer reviews were all mix bag. Bosch seems to be more positive reviews than other brands. We bought the Cooker from Good guys. The delivery was excellent. The cooker was all well packed and the guys removed the old cooker which was a bonus.

Unfortunately, 2 months after we bought the Cooker, it started to show signs of wear. The spill guard showed signs of rust and the front labels started to peel off. We tried to speak to the Customer s... Read more
ervice however we were treated with disrespect. The Lady was repeating that "stainless steal doesn't rust!" She wasn't aware that there are different grades of steal and unfortunately they rust. We were also blamed that what happened to the cooker was our fault. Yes, for $ 4,500 Cooker we are to blamed that we went with Bosch. For us a Cooker to show signs of wear in 2 months is unacceptable. If you are on the market for new Cooker, stay away from this one.

Can you mount the oven on a base without the legs

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the question regarding your Bosch HSB838357A Freestanding gas Cooker. The Feet are required for stabilizing, supporting and balancing the cooker. This is also required for ventilation purposes. We do not recommend using the cooker without the feet.

I guess you could but as Bosch replied the legs are to stabilize the oven and also for ventilation. However, we returned our oven and I understood that the oven is out of production so I'll think twice before I buy it.
Is the series 6 in production

Where can I see one in store in Sydney? No one seems to carry them

I did not have any luck finding one in store in Sydney. However I bought one from appliances online and in my opinion it is better than the ones I saw in any Store. Easier to turn on and off, more intuitive settings, less loose fittings. The internal oven is smaller than ones this size, so no one wants them. People want the big oven. The heat insulation (seams and glass) and cooking (even throughout oven) is better in this oven than others I've had.

Also is the Bosch pyro 90cm dual fuel oven reliable in terms of hotplates & oven wise. It is very hard when no shops have the 900 freestanding on display. Why not ?

Hello Jo, the oven looks very attractive. The hot plates (gas) and the oven work extremely well. We used the stove for over 6 months and no concerns there. There is also storage compartment on the bottom- very handy for trays you don't use regularly.
The only concern was that the materials Bosch used seem to be cheap. There is a spill plate at the back which got some rust 4-5 weeks after we bought the stove and we still fighting with Bosch to get some solution to the problem.
Also the stickers which indicates which knob is for which plate is, have peeled off completely. Our previous stove of 10 years and Gas BBQ of 15 had no such issues.
You don't buy stove every year and it is true that the oven and the plates work extremely well but the problems are annoying and should not happened especially in 6 months after purchase.
Good luck with the decision.
Thanks so much for your honest response. I had my heart set on a 900 freestanding oven, but the more I look I think in my situation ( only 2 of us now ) kids all moved out, it would be wiser to get 2 wall ovens. They will be easier to keep clean & less oven to heat up. Still a work in progress but I will have to make my mind up any day. Thanks again & goodluck with your oven.
