I have just installed a new unit good gas Inlet pressure for gas burner pressure resulting in sufficient hot water
Water tuned on . Ignition clicking . Pilot won't stay on
I just bought a house with a Bosch Hydropower 10H hot water system. It goes boiling hot and when l adjust the cold l lose the hot completely. I paid a plumber to come have a look and he tells me the only way to adjust the temperature is to have the hot water on full bore and then add cold. Yes......that seems to work but it's insane.....the water knocks my little grandson over and the waste of water is incredible. Surely this isn't how it's supposed to work???? Please will someone tell me it ain't so
I usually turn the hot on to a fairly substantial flow, then mix cold, I'm not sure why the pressure would be high enough to knock your Grandson over, I have an overhead shower rose, so the water falls on me, no problems at all.
Thank you answering! I’ve never had to have a shower on full before just so l can adjust the temperature? That’s not normal surely? Maybe l can get the plumber to turn pressure down…
Bosch hydropower are BAD! I have had issues. Runs on water pressure like you say, goes hot/cold. Need to turn it on full bore. WASTE. Also may be an issue with restrictor water saving thing in the shower head. A nightmare
Oh dear……no solution then . Why on earth would Bosch market such a piece of junk ?
Because people keep buying it. Because people love "German" engineering (see my 1 star review). And yes, the water flow that is required for this device is enough to knock you over (if you have a shower rose without a water restriction valve), because you need to also mix in a shipload of cold water pressure or you will be scalded. Anything less will shut the unit off for hours or even days.
We have the Hydro 10. It works perfectly fine in the very hot North West Climate we live in, until it rains. Just flicking of the igniter when you turn taps on but no flame. Rain dries up, problem resloved. I would like to use hot water when its raining. What can I do? System is about 4 years old.
I have been using a Bosch 10 H for four and a half years, for the first three years it gave sterling service and now find it difficult to start. I note in the current user manual fault options that the Hydro generator should be cleaned. The manual has no reference to this procedure. Can you give me instruction to carry this out ?
The click click of the starter process is not heard now. I have back flushed the unit which appears to be a temporary solution.
I have had three service calls in the last 18 months which have cost me more than half the purchase cost of a new 10H. Your appointed technicians had spent most of the time on their mobile to your Bosch technical line. So please don't send me back to this process.

Mine also has low pressure but the heat can be manually adjustable
my system works fine during the day, but at night it is very hard to get the system to work. all I can hear is the clicking which cuts out after about 10secs. I have to turn the taps on and off many many times, each time checking to see if it has lit. Eventually it does light up. But this is so annoying. I have skipped having a night time shower for several years, but I no longer have that option. Hoping that this is a simple problem to fix?
IV just moved into a flat and have no hot water. If pilot light is automatic how do I start it. There is no red or green light on at all.
Turn on the gas supply, water supply and a couple of hot water Fawcett's. When you do have a listen to the unit to see if it's fired up.
If not call the real estate agent or owner as it's their responsibility.
I turned everything off for hour then turned tap inside on then gas then water and it started straight away thanks
Hi sometimes with my H10 the main burner won't ignite . The pilot flame ignites every time waters turned on but on occasions the main burner won't work. Turn hot taps on & off still doesn't work, leave it for a while & it will work. Gas regulator has been replace recently.
We have a Bosch 10H it starts off okay but hot water only stays on a few minutes then we have cold for a few minutes then hot water returns unit is only 3 years old
My advice.....get a qualified gas fitter familiar with Bosch systems to service the unit and check the water pressure,
gas pressure and heat exchanger are functioning properly .
Heya, i own a bosch hydropower 10H. As this is a highly unattractive system we wanted to enclose in with lattace. What is the australian guideline when it comes to the distance from the heat vents to a solid piece of wood?. We dont want it a fire hazard

Hi Sam, thank you for your question. If you are looking to conceal your unit, we suggest that you would need to make the enclosure out of a non-combustible material that is removable for servicing. Also the enclosure would need to be 500mm clearance to flue terminal. How do I light the pilot light?
Hi Taryn, thank you for your question. The ignition for this unit is automatic.
If the ignition fails to ignite after 20 seconds, this will trigger a lockout mechanism. In this case, we would suggest that you turn off all hot water taps and try again. If the unit still doesn't work, then isolate the valves at the unit for 20 seconds, then open the valves and retry. If after this, the unit still fails to ignite, please get in touch with us at 1300 30 70 37 any time from 7:30am to 6pm (AEST), so we can refer you to a Bosch qualified technician.
Please be advised that we do recommend that our units are to be serviced at least every two years so your unit may be due for a service.
I bought a couple of these in 2015 for rental properties. The tenants haven't complained about the water temperature but the other day checking a water leak i notice that one of them has nearly rusted away. The other tenant confirmed that his was also rusty but I haven't checked that one. The rust is really bad, all over the unit, it looks like it won't last the year out. I'm not sure how long the warranty is or what I can do about this but surely they are meant to be outside and they were fitted by someone from the Gas Company who never said they needed cover.

This range has a full warranty of two years for parts and labour, and further warranty of 10 years for the heat exchanger part only. The level of corrosion within the time frame you are referring to sounds extreme and not normal. Although we do not know the location of your units, installation in areas near ocean or marine environments will cause premature corrosion of surface coatings. As such, we recommend in our product literature to avoid such installations as it is not covered under warranty. We polished it up and put a wooden cover on it and it is ok now. We do live near the beach but the heater is on the other side of the building. Ga an company was no help.
Hi Molly, thank you for clarifying the location of where your units are located. Unfortunately, the powder coated steel we use in our units can be affected by the salt content in the air of your environment. A slightly unorthodox method to slow down the corrosion would be to coat the unit in fish oil as a preventative measure. This product is typically called rust prevention/guard/treatment and will usually have fish oil in the product name. It can also be purchased from your local hardware store. As mentioned, it will not stop the rust from coming back, but it can help to slow down the corrosion. Please also be advised that due to safety concerns, we strongly recommend the removal of the wooden cover as it is a fire hazard.
I live in a retirement unit. My hot water system is located inside the rear enclosed patio. Is this a safety issue? Mike Lee

I will shortly be purchasing a Bosch 10H as highly recommended by my Plumber.
This wlll replace my Bosch 10P which is 20-plus years old. In poor condition and rusty. Overall used to work well. Has now failed.
How does the 10P compare with the new 10H model?

The Bosch Pilot uses a traditional standing pilot light while the Bosch HydroPower uses water movement to create its own small voltage to ignite the water heater. Please be advised that if you switch from a 10P to a 10H, you may notice a slight difference in performance. We would not recommend switching from a 10P to a 13H, for example, as there would be a significant difference in performance and hot water delivery. I have a 10h gas water heater seems to light ok but the water is only warm there is a bit of yellow flame in the front
Hi Derek, thank you for your question and apologies for the delayed response. Due to ieatwords updating its platform, we have missed some questions that were asked. The yellow flame indicates that there may be some blockages in the burner which is causing poor combustion. One of the causes of blockages are insects blocking burner orifices (which cannot be avoided as adequate air flow is required for complete combustion). The unit will need to be cleaned and to minimise the chance of this issue recurring, a surface type insecticide can be used with care though a consultation with a licensed pest controller is recommended. If you have already adjusted your gas and water controls, it could be a gas supply issue. My Bosch 10H has no pilot nor hot water this cold morning. How do I ignite it?
How to start
Our main burner is off and not sure how to get it started again... please help
Check to see if you hear it ticking (spark) when you turn hot tap on. If not make sure connections to the battery power pack is ok. (Its 2 wires in a plug)
If connection is ok and no spark battery needs replacing.
If you can hear spark (tick tick ) and it does not light there is a small pipe that goes to pilot under peizo (spark igniter). Undo the top of pipe 10mm open end spanner be carefull not to break it. There is a little jet (dont drop it) get the little and blow through it they get clogged.
(The jet is about as big as a babys thumb nail silver aluminum) tiny little hole that gets clogged.
Other than that I dont know.
If the water tap is on an no tick tick tick sparking sound the water powered ignition circut has failed. The price of a call out diagnosis plus return visit and part will almost equal new unit with install. It will also fail again that I promise you. Learn by my own costly mistake.
