Rotak 37 LI

Hello, the mower kept stopping and starting, so I thought the starter motor switch in the handle was at fault. I have replaced with a new one, it still has the same problem. I then removed the cover checked all the wires were in place and cleaned everything in site, so no more debris inside. All replaced and it still has the same problem. Could it be the plastic switches inside the handle under the starter switch not doing their job. If so can they be replaced ? Or could it be the something else? The alternative is giving Bosch 150 pounds to fix it. Ouch. Many Thanks for any help out there. M

Check to see if the batteries are showing any kind of swelling. I’ve got two of these mowers (got one for mum) both with two batteries and the triangular chargers and had them a number of years and both have had this issue. Seems the chargers go faulty and can damage the batteries, or the batteries age and damage the charger as we’ve both had new chargers and batteries. They appear charged but are not holding sufficient voltage I suspect and on closer inspection they have swollen through over-charging it trying to get the voltage high enough I assume. Whether the batteries caused the charger to fail or vice versa I don’t know but neither original charger nor batteries fixed the issue alone, I had to change the lot.
If the battery looks swollen like mine did that could be the same issue for you. You can tell by looking at the parallel lines on the battery or even some minor splits in the casing.
Ps my second lot of batteries are now looking like they’re going the same way now, same symptoms but not yet showing swelling in the casing.
Very frustrating and expensive.
With mum’s I tried one of the ‘trade’ line red batteries which could be another option when buying a replacement. Hers seem okay on the second batch of batteries/charger so far.

Ive got a 2011 model I bought from Bunnings and they wont repair it as they no longer stock them! Anyone can help? A plastic part as part of the level system has broken so I can no loner raise or lower the cut height and now the mower is stuck sitting at ground level. I spent a lot of money on it and a spare battery so hoping I can salvage it as it works beautifully! Any ideas anyone?

If bunnings has refused to look after you I would be going to the Bosch head office. Give that a go and see what the outcome will be!!

Hi Vivienne,

Would you mind sending me the 10-digit part number on the back of your tool or from the box? We don’t sell any Rotak model by that name here in Australia.

If the motor sometimes stops immediately, possible explanations are that the battery is not charged, the isolator key is not inserted correctly/fully, the battery is not inserted correctly, or the battery is too hot/cold. This is all outlined in the manual that came with your tool.

Otherwise, if the tool seems to function intermittently, a possible cause it that the internal wiring of the machine has been damaged, or that the motor protector has activated. If it’s the latter you should allow the motor to cool and increase the height of cut.

It’s hard to know what the exact issue is without being able to assess the tool ourselves. If you purchased your tool in Australia and you’ve tried all the above troubleshooting (as per the manual), you might consider taking it back to the store you purchased it from or to an Authorised Service Dealer for assessment.

To locate an Authorised Service Dealer, please call 1300 307 044 or visit the link below with a list of our Authorised Service Dealers in Australia:

Let me know how you go or if you have any other questions.

Cheers, Hayley

Hello Hayley, Thanks for your response. I bought it in Belgium, so a bit far to travel to fix the problem in Australia!! However I found the number on the machine - TYP 3600H85D04.

Hi Vivienne,

Ah, that explains it. Who knows, maybe you can turn it into a holiday as well ;)

The best thing to do would be to check the manual as its got a whole list of troubleshooting options. Otherwise, you can take it back to the place of purchase (in Belgium!) or contact the local customer service team and they should be able to help you out.

Let me know how you go. If you're really having trouble I can see if our team in AU can get in touch with the team in your country to help resolve this issue.

Cheers, Hayley.

The motor starts and then stops after 1-2 seconds. I have bypassed the handle contact and the key. Now I'm looking at the motor power relay made by Tyco V23134-B1053-C642. Could this relay be faulty or could it be the motor itself?

I bought the little light Rotak mower last year, but when I have tried re-charging the battery again this year...it just keeps flashing red and doesn't charge up! Surely it can't have a problem after just a year - I only used it about four times last year. Advice please? Annette Burrows.

Yeah, with LiPo batteries if they drop below a certain charge levek they cannot be recovered, certainly not with the standard charger. If this happends to any LiPo battery they need to go on a smart tyoe of charger that balances each cell and recharges them slowley. Thats why you should always store them fully charged. For the cost of those batteries it would be worth taking to somewhere like battery world and asking them if they can recover the battery for u. Otherwise, you could pick up a second hand battery off ebay.
