Good Mower but Battery Questionable
I bought our mower 9 months ago. I did my homework and read the customer reviews which appeared 50/50 in their opinions (like/dislike), the main complaint seemed to be the battery/charger. My dad always used Bosch power tools as they were a good, quality brand so I went ahead and bought one. The mower worked great - cut the grass as good as any petrol mower, was quiet and lightweight. Then I noticed the battery would go flat faster and faster until it didn't charge at all. I've since had it repaired under warranty (Bosch replaced the battery and charger). It's charging better than ever before so I suspect the battery or charger was faulty from day one. Overall a good product if your charger works.

Perfect within its design parameters
Bought this today on special for a bargain $400 from bunnies.
I have two small lawns totalling around 70m2. They are terraced and Kikuyu making them a tough and hardy challenge.
Having struggled with a 2 stroke Victa for entirely too long I decided to invest in a 36v mower. Initially I borrowed a mates Ryobi to make sure they could get the job done.
I was genuinely surprised at how light and quiet these cordless mowers are. Due to the price difference I was set to replicate my mates purchase with a 36v Ryobi and can heartily recommend ...Read more
them as a generally cheaper alternative. The Bosch though is imho an even better unit. It is considerably lighter than the Ryobi (which is itself way lighter than my Victa), at 13kg even the Mrs can lift it up and down the terraces and mow the lawn. It is also quiet enough that we were able to hold a conversation whilst I mow. (may be a pro or a con depending on your own circumstances)Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

We love it!
We bought our Bosch Rotak 37 Li cordless about 3 years ago from Bunnings for $600 I think and we love it.
It is just so convenient, quiet, and gets the job done. We don't have a large lawn but it takes us about 25 minutes to cut and we get it done on one charge. The charger gave up about 4 months ago but found one from some Sydney tool Company for about $180.
Update 30/4/16
Our latest charger, number three, has now died and we are trying to negotiate with Bosch to see if they will supply another one. We reckon 3 chargers (recommended retail $249) in 4 years is a bit much. Otherwise we still love the mower which does a fantastic job.
Easy to use, light, quiet, no petrol, oil, plugs to worry about
a bit expensive but worth every cent

Disposable Mower
I loved this mower, worked well for almost three years. Then the battery didn't charge. Wasn't sure if it was the charger or the battery so I thought I would look at both. Bunnings no longer stocked this mower, so it took a while to get the prices. For both the charger and the battery... $520.
So light and easy to use.
Apparently it is disposable.

Acquired 2010, still going, just.
I bort my Rotak 37 in 2010 and its still going. Of late its been hesitant to start so Im worried its on its last legs. Symptom - motor whirs for 1 second then stops. Try it a bit later and it starts. Battery seems fine, showing 3 bars. Hopefully it will last this spring and summer. Im on a 540sqm block with a decent lawn at rear and modest front.
In terms of the last 3 yrs usage - no complaints. Its perfectly fine for modest lawns and modest tasks in suburbia.
No petrol hassles! Light. Seems well-built.
In its 4th year of operation it occasionally doesnt start, but still hasnt died. Fingers crossed!

Bosch Lawnmower
In my opinion, a cordless lawnmower does not seem to be a great product. Mainly because the battery has lifespan, nobody can assure after 2 years usage a fully charged battery is still a long lasting battery.
I personally prefer a corded lawnmower, although the cable might short, but it can always buy an extension cable.
Convenience, light, great design
Battery lifespan

Great idea, but unreliable rubbish
I started off loving this lawnmower. No petrol, quiet, lightweight and with 2 batteries I could easily mow my entire lawn (about 450m2). Then after only 3 months - it stopped working. Completely stuffed. After a $300 repair (I had bought overseas so Australian consumer protection didn't apply) it was up and running again...but not for long. It's now died for a second time. Same problem. Disappointing. I'm not going to waste money trying to fix it again. Going back to petrol until the technology improves!
No petrol, quiet, lightweight
Has broken down twice in 18months. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY

Great mower but it didn't go the distance
I had a BR 34LI for just about 15mths. I like that its light and fast to move. It wasn't so great when I let the grass get long, or if it was wet. At the 11 month mark, it started to cut out. I took it back to Bunnings and waited 2 weeks to be told nothing was wrong. It was fine for another 1 month and then again started to cut out, and refuse to restart for long periods. I thought it was overheating but discovered that it would restart only when I applied downwards pressure on the battery. Eventually, even that stopped working.
Light and easy to use.
Service department wasn't very thorough in my opinion

Bunnings are the worst company in the world when it comes to customer service, I will never shop there again...
Downward pressure on the battery would suggest there is a continuity problem between the terminal and the plates of the battery. I would suggest tying another battery to see if that works..
I agree about Bunnings customer service - my Masport mower broke down after about 3 uses - took two weeks to repair and broke down again after one use - Bunnings wanted to repair again - I wanted my m... Read more
oney back - they blamed me for using the wrong petrol (which I hadn't), putting in too much oil (oil was put in by the repairer), failing to change the spark plug (which didn't need changing) - I told them to get the manager after which I got my money back - I won't be shopping there again eitherSimilar opinion? Never thought mowing could be so much fun
Purchased this after reading many positive reviews both here and overseas. I must say that I agree with them. I have used it to mow the back and front yards and nature strip several times now. It does a very neat and even job. I was worried as some people had said it only worked well on good, even lawn but we have awful, lumpy, uneven and weedy lawn in the back, awful grass and lawn in the front and nice grass on the nature strip. It cuts all of it well. It even copes OK with the dandelion flower stalks (although I do have to mow them a co...Read more
uple of times in different directions sometimes to get them down) and with quite long grass. It cuts fairly close to a raised flower bed, tree trunks and edging if you take your time. I find it easy to maneuver and light to lift up when I need to (although I need to remove the grass catcher if it is full before I do this as the full catcher adds quite a bit of weight). It even has a handle on the body of the mower to assist with lifting it. It is easy to start (you press a button and lift the second handle/lever) and starts first time every time. It stops immediately if you let go of the handle/lever. The battery is also fairly easy to change. The catcher can be a bit tricky to empty if it is very full but if you start the grass moving by pulling it out with your other hand it is not too bad. The clippings are of a nice size and even cut so you could use them for mulch or composting quite easily. I have found that if you let the catcher fill right up the mower will eventually spit some cut grass out the front of the mower and turn off. It will keep turning off until you empty the catcher. Also, the mower will simply stop when the battery charge gets too low. If the grass is of average to short length the mower will go for about 1 hour on a full charge. If the grass is longer or damp the time will decreased to about 40 minutes. I have purchased a second battery and keep both charged and simply swap them when one runs out of charge. Alternatively, if you want to save the coast of an additional battery, it only takes about an hour to get an 80% charge so you could take a break and/or do something else for and hour and then return to use the same battery again. The mower is quieter than a vacuum cleaner. Easy to start, light to move around/lift, easy to maneuver, turns off if you let go (safer), quiet, doesn't smell, no cord, cuts well even on uneven ground or over weeds, can cut quite close to edges etc Expensive, catcher can be difficult to empty as grass gets caught inside, may need an extra battery for larger lawn1 comment
Great mower for the price. No mucking about with petrol and oil, just press the start button.

Perfect for a small yard
Two things I love most about my Rotak are it's light weight and the fact it's an electric mower with wheels! I don't know how I used a flymo for so long... The light weight is fantastic when you're mowing on a slope - no longer do you have to stop a heavy mower trying to slide away from you!
I think the pros are covered enough in the other reviews. Time for the bad. If you let your lawn grow a bit long the battery can drain faster. The diameter of the blades seems a little small, but for my yard it might mean 2 extra passes to compensat...Read more
e. The catcher is a little small, and the handle on it isn't exactly held on firmly - if you shake too hard it can come off when it's full. It doesn't really like uneven ground - in that if the blades hit a clump of grass it cuts out (as a safety feature). Sometimes I can just hit a clump of grass that's too long and it'll cut out because it thinks it hit something solid. Having my dog digging the odd "surprise hole" in my yard doesn't help this situation. The easy way around? I just set the height a little higher. I would highly recommend this mower to anyone, especially people with wrist problems - it is so light (for a mower)!! I haven't noticed any real vibration that's annoyed me either. I don't think it's as quiet as some people are making out, but it is quieter than my vacuum cleaner! Fast charge, light weight, good looks, electric, efficient catcher, it has wheels!! OMG expensive!!! Can sometimes cut out more than you'd hope, catcher a little small, careful of a hot battery!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Ease of Starting and Operation
After fighting petrol mowers for over 40 years and watching the grass grow ever longer, I bought this Bosch lawnmower.
I mow every week now, my garden and lawn have never looked better thanks to the rain and my Bosch.
Take it from me, don't fight your old petrol machine any longer.
Get this mower, you won't regret it.
Ease of use. Reliability. Light weight for lifting.

always loved petrol products the size of the grass needed to be cut at our current property made using a petrol mower a real chore. I purchased the Rotak 37 yesterday (along with the Bosch ART 26 Li trimmer) and put both to use that same day. Both are fantastic products that no small lot owner should be without. From now onwards mowing will be a simple task without the dramas of the past. I wish I had purchased the aforementioned items long ago! This particular mower is still performing very well. I mow weekly in summer and it has only stopped because I ran over a tree root. Blades still sharp. Still no fighting petrol mowers!

Brilliant Design-The future of Lawn Mowers
Every Lawn mower in future will follow this design leader.
Brilliant design, world class product. Lightweight, Efficient.
I purchased the Bosch Rotak ergoflex 43Li from Amazon UK, delivered to Australia. Came with 2 batteries.
Perfect constant speed. Stops immediately if grass catcher full or encounters an obstruction. Excellent electronic stall protection
I believe it uses regenerative techonoogy to recover the rotational energy of the blades at the instant it is switched off.
Perfect

Motor broke an d Bosch lets me buy a new one.Very good solution it was for my lawn, very bad durability however.

ge back to the battery. However, the energy stored in the spinning blades & motor electric field would be very little compared to that required to cut grass, & would make little or no difference to battery run time.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Ticked all my boxes
Read enough reviews before deciding to buy it. Mainly for it's light weight as I have a few patches of lawn that require the mower to be carried across.
Bought the 43 LI from Amazon Germany as they can organize shipping to Australia. All up around A$550 including shipping.
Used it a few times now and happy with the mobility and the cut, even on wet long grass.
Light weight, easy to handle and carry
Not sure how the warranty will work with import to Australia

Excellent mower, almost perfect.
Usage: Usually mow either every week during summer, or once every three weeks during winter. Grass is Sir Walter grass, so it’s pretty thick.
Time since purchase: approximately 12 months
Comments:
- Purchased the 43 Li, the larger model with two batteries.
- The two batteries really comes in handy when needing to mow a medium sized yard, mine is approximately 600msq block, but reasonable amount of lawn. The two batteries isn’t always required.

Did you buy this in Australia? I would like this model but its not sold in the shops here & I'm worried about warranty if it comes from Europe
Amazon.
Update, this is still running and going as well as expected. Doesn't get abused and batteries always charged back to full to maintain their life. (Lithium batteries are better stored charged, rather than empty).
It’s still going strong. :-)

Have just retired and taken on the mowing as my contribution to house maintenance.
All the reviews below echo my positive experience as a grandmother who has never mowed a lawn in her life until now. I did the research and decided the expense was worth it- no cords to worry about and quick charge to get the job in an hour- large house block. The new Masters store has it for just under $600 - cheaper than what I paid a few months ago.

This machine has clear advantages in noise, pollution, ease of operation and the quality of the mowing outcome. Low operating and maintenance costs can also be added to the list of advantages.
Because of its light weight and low noise this mower is actually fun to use and its environmental advantages provide a feeling that is hard to put a dollar value on.
Manuverability, No fumes, Low noise, low maintenance costs, light weight, green credentials.

Overall i am very very pleased with the product (first month). Mowing has become something to look forward to (cheesy but true). What remains to be proven is for all the parts, esp battery* & charger*, blades, engine to perform as advertised.
As a significant premium is paid for this product it is of utmost importance for the li battery & charger to last the distance as advertised or claimed.
Newfound respect for made in the uk.

ry impressed with its Lithium Battery and Charger - holds charge amazingly well and fast charges everytime. Handles my SirWalter Buffalo grass which is "tough as" extremely well as I mow often not letting it overgrow - recently, we were away for a month and we returned with the grass about 4-6" high. Well the engine did cut out several times due but finished the job without any worse for the wear. Did not affect the blade's performance in subsequent cuts.Similar opinion? The best mower I have ever purchased !
I initially purchased the 37 LI to mow a very small yard in Sydney and found it to be exceptional in performance.
It does not sink into the ground as do conventional heavy petrol mowers and does not leave any tell-tale wheel marks on the lawn. The cut is clean and when finished it looks like a bowling green.
No fumes to contend with or more importantly no electric cords to run over. The safety cut-off is great as you don't end up mulching your lawn if you hit a hole or setting the cut too low.
It cuts right to the edge is perfect for ...Read more
me as it makes the edge trimming a 2 min job. The catcher seemed small at first but when compared to the old petrol mower catcher I found it more than adequate. In fact because of the design I found it the only mower I have ever owned that filled the catcher 100% even when mowing wet grass !! This was terrific as it does not seem to ever clog with grass. This has been well thought out and the German engineering really shows even if it is subtle.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

So easy!
Female-never mowed a lawn in my life, plus have had 2 ops on arms in past 12 months. Bought this as so over being charged exorbitant rates to get my lawn mowed. Extremely light and pleasure to use.
Easy to put together(except the grasscatcher), and battery charged up quickly. Started straight away, no problems at all using.Lawn looks great!
Can't work out why its $300 AU to buy in UK and double here. Not right in this day and age.

A great mower but the one I chose (37) is too small for my 1/4 acre block, however it will do. With only one battery, beer time comes around quickly.
Light & the wife can use it! (weight is 60% of equivalent petrol mower)Quiet, can cut the grass at Sunday lunch time
Catcher is too small.Bosch should ship it with a second battery to increase cutting time.Cannot handle gum nuts - they jam the blades & can be hard to remove.

Hello, the mower kept stopping and starting, so I thought the starter motor switch in the handle was at fault. I have replaced with a new one, it still has the same problem. I then removed the cover checked all the wires were in place and cleaned everything in site, so no more debris inside. All replaced and it still has the same problem. Could it be the plastic switches inside the handle under the starter switch not doing their job. If so can they be replaced ? Or could it be the something else? The alternative is giving Bosch 150 pounds to fix it. Ouch. Many Thanks for any help out there. M
