Excellent dishwasher
Bought this from Myers in January 2020 as part of their floor clearance and we could not be happier. Only bought as our older top range Miele needed replacing. The dishwasher looks and feels well built. It has several options for washing and pretty much covers anything you can think of. You can barely hear it when it is on, so running it at night when the baby is sleeping is not a worry.
It has 3 internal storage racks with the cups and cutlery trays fully adjustable (up, down and even angled -cutlery only). The bottom rack can take large pots and plates and supports are all adjustable.
If you can grab it at a clearance go for it!
Purchased in January 2021 at Myer for $950.00.

A doubtful upgrade
Washes well on the 1/2hr cycle. Testing the auto sense 1.5hr with a few clean dishes still took 1.5hrs. Begs the question the use of long wash times. The tray guides aren't well positioned and the adjustable guides won't stay put. Other machines have an extractor fan that runs after cycle ends to aid drying. This machine would benefit from that rather than having to prop open the door strait after cycle ends. The cheaper base model would most likely serve just as well.
Purchased in December 2021 at M3 Logistics for $1,599.00.

Dead on Arrival, and very disappointing customer service
Recently I purchased a SMU88TS04A Built-Under Dishwasher, and it was installed by a licensed plumber on 13th Nov 2022, however this machine is DOA. Error code on screen is Fault E15. As advised on the screen, I called customer service straight away and booked a service the next Monday 18th Nov 2022. At meantime, my plumber also spent extra hour on this issue tried to find the cause of it but he couldn't.
On 18th, the technician found the micro switch connected to the water sensor is faulty but he needed to order the spare part which would tak...Read more
e a few more days. Considering this is a brand new install and this part is working with the water protection sensor, for safety purpose and peace of mind I contacted the customer service again on the same day and requested a replacement instead of repairing it. This request was rejected and after that nothing heard nothing from Bosch until I called again on Thursday 21st Nov. This time, the reason given was this is only a small part costing $30-$40. But the customer support couldn't explain further in regards of the failure (for safety purpose I prefer to understand more details before I can accept a DOA appliance). I asked after repair whether I can get a replacement if it happened again, the answer was no. If to a customer who purchased a DOA BOSCH appliance, repair is the only option, then leaving the customer wait without any updating or following up is the rule of Bosch customer service? Under my insistence, I got a chance to speak to one of the supervisors, who offered to escalate this to the "solution team" and I emailed my invoice on the same day as required. I was advised that it would take up to two weeks to assess and it also depends on the stock availability, therefore there is no ETA.Purchased in October 2021 at e&s.

Consistently breaking down
I have had this dishwasher just under 4 years. And have had two repairs done so far and currently waiting for them to respond to it breaking down AGAIN.
First repair was just after 12 months of owning the machine. Then at 2 years, there was an E09 error where they had to change out a major part. Exactly 2 years after that, I had an error E02, which has now progressed to ‘No Communication’.
I have called the centre and have been told to wait up to 14 days for someone to get back to me about my ‘complaint’. So until then, my family just has t...Read more

Previously had a similar model - purchased again because I was so happy with the previous one.
Excellent at washing dishes
Very clean dishwasher - doesn't leave behind any muck, self-cleaning (I scrape but don't rinse prior to putting dishes in)
Excellent range of programs
Cutlery drawer has fold down tines at the front that are great for holding thicker cutting knives and tongs
Bottom basket seems to have improved clearance compared to my previous model - able to hold quite large cutting boards or tall plates on the bottom rack on each side

BOSCH DISHWASHER SMU88TS02A
Sadly we were unlucky and bought a dishwasher from The Goodguys which had a mind of its own. It was a Neff and we were told it was made by Bosch but was even better. We loved our Bosch for 18 years. What a super machine and we really wanted one the same. But the saleswoman talked us around and soon the Neff was installed. At least 10 times a day it would self start! A couple of times it got so far as putting water in. This machine really wanted centre stage! Had 2 service calls and in the first we were advised we had too much static electricity...Read more
and that was what was setting it off and the tradesman suggested staying as far away from the machine as we could ( Maybe a trapeze across the ceiling I asked?) Last resort was to replace the brain, panel and do a lobotomy on it. You'd think that would work, but no, this was a try hard machine!!! By now we were dealing directly with BSH Home Appliances who supply the retailers with various brands. They were happy to change the Neff over to a Bosch and a couple of weeks later all our problems were over. The Bosch moved in. It has a lot of extras like an internal light which is nice. The controls are on the top internal edge of the door which makes them easy to read. The Neff has the switches on the front surface of the door and even lightly brushing against would set them off. Think air did it too. I have a massive window at bench height right behind the dishwasher so in the middle of the day I usually turn the machine on. It was impossible to see the setting on the door, but now I can open the door a little more or less and be able to see them on the Bosch. You can't hear a sound while it's on. It cleans to 100% perfect with lots of options. The stainless steel is beautiful and the internal metal frame which hold plates, pots glasses etc. is more solid than the Neff. It has the horizontal cutlery shelf at the top which I love. So easy to put cutlery away when it's all grouped together. It really feels like a much more expensive machine. There's only one thing I'd change if I could. The handle is chrome instead of stainless steel. I don't think it will wear as well as solid metal. I'm trying to be careful not to touch the front while I go in under the chrome to grab hold and pull down. I also try to remember to dry my hands before opening the machine. That's a lot for my husband to remember... so hope it will last. It was also nice dealing with BSH. They were so sympathetic and helpful. I'm glad to have a Bosch back in our lives. outside built into handle to display current status of the programme..the controls are electronic touch buttons along the top inside of the door which are easy to use and are concealed when the door is closed..the machine is super quiet and runs very well...i did a review on the Bosch appliances site and pointed out that the only thing i would wish for in this model would be the Miele haefele runners for the drawers (they are super smooth) plus auto kicking the door open at the finish (which Meile also does) but my review got rejected because i mentioned a competitor...it was only to say that the Bosch is still a 5 star washer in my view but would be 5 star deluxe with auto door opening and smooth drawer runners but thats part of what the buyer considers for the extra $400 or so for the Meile. I consider this the be the best choice in our price range plus we wanted German made machine (or other top Euro appliance) and have not been disappointed!!Purchased in February 2021 at Harvey Norman Retail Stores for $1,199.00.

works like a charm
1) very useful top tray for cutlery, allows you to collect cleaned items sorted by type straight into your drawer
2) washes well with aldi dishwasher tables, all comes out clean without need to use rinse aid
3) very spacious racks with flexible layout that can be flattened out to cater for large pots
4) being able to set dishwasher to 'finish washing by 6am' no matter the program selected makes delayed start configuration a breeze (no need to do mental math)

Bosch SMU88TS04A Easily the best dishwasher we have owned !!
This review is about the Bosch SMU88TS04A which we have recently taken delivery of. We got an excellent deal and paid $1,404-00 delivered to our kitchen from Appliances Online the day after we ordered it.
This dishwasher comes with both the top cutlery drawer and the removable cutlery basket for the bottom drawer.

nomical, so I wasn't going there again. The AEG has been going for about 14 years and still going strong in a house we recently sold. A great dishwasher. I have also worked in Hospitality over the past 30 years and have had extensive experience with a number of very expensive commercial dishwashers. Water and Energy consumption have never factored into any appliance purchase decision I have ever made and won't do in the future. However, this machine has very high ratings in both respects, if that is something you desire. The Bosch SMU88TS04A is without question the best dishwasher we have ever had. It has the best design features, tray and basket layout and adjustability of any dishwasher we have ever seen or used. It is also one of the quietest. It cleans the dishes very well and dries them very well. You still get a little water in the bottom rim of upturned cups and bowls, but you get that with all dishwashers. People who don't expect that are expecting too much !!1 comment

Nice made dishwasher, but can't glasses won't fit
The dishwasher is a well made German product looks good. But is let down greatly when we tried to stack wine glasses or standard glasses in the middle glass rack we noticed they won't fit. The reason for this is there are 3 racks, the very top one is for knives and forks ect but the top rack takes up room from the middle rack which is for glasses so glasses won't fit unless they are small totally forget about wine glasses fitting. So glasses have to go on the bottom rack, but they move around there. Racks aren't adjustable so you will have to remove the top knife and fork rack to fit glasses properly. Basically knife rack is a waste a utensil basket would be better.
It does a good job in cleaning all items

Bosch does it better
After our last dishwasher (Bosch, lasted about 8-10 years) we decided we would stick with them as they do dishwashers so well. So far so good. We really like this machine, love that you can adjust the middle draw to make it higher or lower depending upon what you have in the bottom rack. Also love that you can flick up and down some of the plate holder bits to make room for bulky things. Also has the option for cutlery drawer or the crate at the bottom. easier and quicker to unload. So, I've removed the cutlery basket as it takes up room that can be used for other stuff. I can't figure out the wine rack though, tried to use it once and didn't know where it was supposed to fit. This is really quiet and has lots of options for type of cleaning. The extra dry option is used often as I hate clean but wet dishes. Still can't empty this dishwasher immediately as the dishes will be wet but you can't have everything! It washes everything really well, provided you don't squish one ultra dirty plate right up against another. Does pots and pans and frypans pretty well. We use it daily, it's another quality bosch product.1 comment

OK but not great
We’ve had this machine since aug 2016 so we’ve had a good run. Originally we were having issues with pump and water not draining, however Bosch sent out a technician and issue was fixed by reinstalling dishwasher correctly! Since then, so far so good, however the more I use it the more annoying it gets.
Reasonable dishwasher let down by a number of minor issues.
Cons:
- design of top crockery tray makes it difficult to pack items well.
- no cutlery basket but has a cutlery tray. The cutlery tray takes up a lot of room which means regular...Read more

This machine does a great job. I never put in dishes without cleaning them off reasonably well as the filter doesn’t have to be cleaned as often. Everything comes out dry except the top of cups which is to be expected. It is very quite except for an occasional slurp. I like the cutlery tray.

I think my model number is SMU88TS02A on 3A but it didn’t come up.
I am really happy with my purchase. It was Easy to install and use, fits everything in so well, love the cutlery drawer, SUPER QUIET - can put on anytime and won’t disturb if we have guests or watching tv (open plan house all in same area), cleans every time - even on the fast wash, dries well, tells you when you need more rinse aid or when u should do a clean out wash.
No cons yet but the spray arms are plastic not metal so not sure if that will effect the life of it in the end.

No Cutlery Basket
My wife and I are avid fans of Bosch. We have purchased a Bosch washing machine and Bosch dishwasher in recent years and proudly show them off to family and friends who ask us for advice on making their own whitegood purchases. A few months ago, we inspected the Bosch Dishwasher SMU88TS03A at the good guys castle hill and were impressed with many of the functions and product specifications that it offered, one of which was the movable cutlery basket that the representative showed us - my wife was sold on the model!

ed the Bosch SMU88TS03A, we noticed that the movable cutlery basket was not included. Upon several phone calls with Bosch and our retailer, they both informed me that the movable cutlery basket was not included. They informed us that the basket that was shown to us in store may have been for another model (Apparently SMU88TS02A and SMU88TS04A include the movable cutlery basket but not SMU88TS03A - even though all models are in the same Series 8!). Obviously we were not impressed as the customer representative showed us the SMU88TS03A with the movable cutlery basket. For some, a cutlery basket is not life changing, but for us it is an essential part of our daily dishwashing requirements and a key item in deciding which brand/model of dishwasher to choose from. We still enjoy using our dishwasher although it is a bittersweet experience each time we use it. In our minds we feel slightly mislead. Thank you for your time in reading this2 comments

Great dishwasher
We just purchased this dishwasher it cleans great and is very quiet the only down fall is even though it is an under cupboard model and the specs say it is suitable for 815mm-850mm & 845mm-880mm bench height it isn't it only comes with a 75mm toe kick panel and our cupboards have a 120mm kick board there is a 120mm toe kick panel on the bosch site but after ringing bosch spare parts Australia they cant order it as it is an overseas only spare part so now we are stuck with a big ugly 45mm gap at the bottom of the dishwasher with white plastic feet showing for the price you would think it would come with suitable install parts or at least be available in Australia.
If it wasn't for the Lack of kickpanel i would give 5 stars

Does this dishwasher have a separate rinse cycle
1 answer
Bosch H.Bosch Home Appliances
Hi Jean F.,
Thanks for the question regarding your Bosch dishwasher. The rinse cycle is a part of a program and cannot run done by itself. If you are after an additional rinse for your utensils, keep in mind some programs have a 'pre rinse' cycle which is a great option. I am renovating my kitchen and designing almost all units to have no handles.
Is SMV88TX02A (fully integrated) push to open?
If not, how do you open it without a handle?
Or does the door panel need to be cut / manufactured differently and how different? Theres is very little information out there on this.
I have seen the Bosch series 8 european dishwashers are push to open. Is this not the same?

So if you want to close it, but not use it (part loaded) and you want to open it to put more in how do you open it?
Bosch H.Bosch Home Appliances
Hi Jon,
This appliance is designed to be used with a handle. An actual handle or a cutout of the panel would be necessary. Your cabinet makers would need to be asked if the cutout is possible for your setup.
You can download the installation manual to show them via https://www.bosch-home.com.au/productlist/dishwashers/underbench-dishwashers/dishwasher-60-cm-wide/SMV88TX02A#/Tabs=tab-3185783/.

Does it have a finish notification and if so does it require any action to stop it?

Bosch H.Bosch Home Appliances
Hi Les,
Thanks for the question regarding your Bosch SMU88TS04A.
This appliance does not have this function. If you want an end of cycle notification you would have to go for the Integrated model SMV88TX02A.
If you need any more help, feel free to contact us on 1300 369 744.
Regards, Bosch Home Australia
We are still researching and yes we do want an integrated model and the reason for the question was that we do not want that feature where the dishwasher beeps continuosly at the end of cycle so you have to open the door or take any action to stop it.
Bosch H.Bosch Home Appliances
Hi Les,
The semi integrated SMU88TS04A does not have the end of program signal and the fully integrated SMV88TX02A has a single buzzer that can be turned off and has lights that signal the end of the program as well.
We hope that helps with the decision.
