Caddiasked
Hi, we have a brand new version of this oven, and the rotary selector is very sluggish/spasmodic. Do I really need to take to it with a butter knife to tidy it up? This is the third use. If a light touch on the dial is recommended, how sensitive will it be to a butter knife?
1 answer
Bosch H.Bosch Home Appliances
Hi Caddi,
Thanks for your question regarding the Bosch oven.
A butter knife can help with removal but some people can get it out without one. If it is sluggish you will probably find some dust or some debris behind it. Clean it out and it should be good to go.

The rotary dial on my Bosch series 8 oven will not rotate so I can't adjust the temperature. Please advise.

Bosch H.Bosch Home Appliances
Hi Tony,
Thanks for your question regarding the Bosch HBG672BS1A.
The control ring can get stuck with dust or other debris. If you remove the ring, a fingernail or the end of a butter knife used carefully will help with this, you can wipe it off and the area behind it this should fix your issue.

Thanks, this works. Before I got your reply I tried a squirt of WD 40 - my solution to everything mechanical, and it too worked.
I just had a Series 8 installed too. Rotary selector is problematic. The butter knife worked a treat.

Having trouble changing the pilot light. Can’t seem to get the glass cap off. Any advice?
1 answer
Bosch H.Bosch Home Appliances
Hi Alistair,
Thanks for your message, Please refer to page 28 of your user manual.
When replacing the cooking compartment bulb, the
bulb socket contacts are live. Before replacing the bulb,
unplug the appliance from the mains or switch off the
circuit breaker in the fuse box.
1. Place a tea towel in the cold cooking compartment
to prevent damage.
2. Turn the glass cover anti-clockwise to remove it.
3. Pull out the bulb do not turn it.
Insert the new bulb, making sure that the pins are in
the correct position. Push the bulb in firmly.
4. Screw the glass cover back on.
Depending on the appliance model, the glass cover
may have a sealing ring. If the glass cover has a
sealing ring, put it back in place before screwing the
cover back on.
5. Remove the tea towel and switch on the circuit
breaker.
If the glass cover of the halogen bulb is damaged, it
must be replaced. You can obtain a new glass cover
from the after-sales service.
If you contact us on 1300 369 744 we’ll investigate for you.
