Disappointed
Despite following the instructions carefully, the rice is seldom ready when it clicks from 'cook' to 'keep warm'. It is usually either overcooked or undercooked. If it is undercooked and out of water and has flipped to 'keep warm' cycle I try to add more, but then I can't turn it back to 'cook'.
It spits a lot of starch all over the kitchen counter and floor.
If I don't turn it off as soon as it flips from the 'cook' to 'keep warm', it burns the bottom of the rice on the 'keep warm' cycle. It is very hard to measure the amount of water ...Read more
required. We have to use a torch as the instructions say to fill it up to a number on the inside of the bowl. This number is just an indent of the same colour and is impossible to read in low light. We have given up trying to make brown rice as it never works. Doesn't cook rice well.1 comment

Good
I find the rice cooker a great help, no more cold meals waiting for the rice to cook. This rice cooker works well, although the recommended water measures seemed inaccurate and we have developed our own system. I haven't used other rice cookers but I would recommend this one.
Looks good, rice cookers are so convenient and help takes out the timing dilemmas when cooking
The suggested water measures were not enough. We tend to make our own judgements with much more success. It does leave quite a bit of starch steam residue around the kitchen bench but I think that is to be expected.

Hi Lucy Lou can you give me your rice to water measurements as I cant seem to get fluffy rice with the recommended measurements. Thanks

Excellent
Good product that works and creates great rice. You should experiment with it as well and try different things from the book.
Great and easy to use. The smaller unit is also better for 2 people and takes up less room when storing.
Not a product problem, but cooking brown rice is very messy compared to white, and take 3 times longer to cook.

Find out how Breville Set & Serve BRC300 compares to other Rice Cookers
Know better, choose better.
Those people that can't cook rice with this item are surely not reading the instructions properly.
This has to be one of the easiest machines in the kitchen to use. From the first time of use this has produced excellent rice. Rice is perfectly cooked, fluffy and us kept warm just at the right temperature - and it even looks good sitting on the bench
Efficient, does what is meant to do - makes great rice

Bad
The steamer works well however the cooker is very messy when cooking brown rice (don't know about white). The book recommends 1 1/2 cups water to 1 cup of uncooked brown rice. However sunrice long grain brown rice needs much more water than that - 1 to 4.
Good vegetable steamer
When cooking brown rice, small droplets of rice water come out of steam hole and make a mess on bench top. The cooker is not overfull as I am only using 1 cup of rice - 4 cups of water.

Seems to me you are using it incorrectly or just got the rotten egg in the basket. I've had mine for a year and each time it produces wonderful, fluffy perfectly cooked rice. Perhaps you are not washi... Read more
