PRETTY GOOD
For cooking 4 cups of rice i have found this to do an excellent job, nice fluffy rice, no overflow, no burning or sticking. The only draw back is that rice will dry out if left on the warm setting for too long. I am not sure why all the bad reviews, did they follow the instructions. I also used the steamer for dumplings its a bit small but did a good job.

Labour intensive & a fire hazard
If you cook it following the instructions the rice is not only uncooked and dry, the bottom bowl starts to burn! I would not feel safe leaving the house while using this. I found I had to use 3 times the amount of water recommended in order to cook white rice and 6 times to cook brown rice. If you add all the extra water actually required at the beginning it spits and spills out over the top, so you have to monitor it and keep adding water and resetting, it's more work than cooking on a stove top.
Good size & inexpensive
Requires a lot more water than recommended & needs to be added manually over the course of cooking, spits hot water out, bottom bowl overheats

Rice Burns Stay Away
I purchased the Breville Platinum 8 cup rice cooker with the keep warm option. The two times I have used this cooker it has burnt the rice on the bottom and it has stuck. Very disappointed with this rice cooker. It now sits in my cupboard without use as it can not be used without rice burning. Appears the element at the bottom maybe too hot to keep rice warm.
Cooked the rice
Burnt the rice when cooking and keeping warm.

Great Cooker
This rice cooker is fantastic value for money!! I paid $27 at Harvey Norman! Anyone who is having trouble with rice sticking or water spraying clearly aren't using the cooker correctly...it's not hard!! All you have to do is put the number of cups of rice in that you want to cook USING THE CUP PROVIDED as a rice cup is only a 175ml cup, not a standard cup size which is 250ml..!! And then fill with COLD water to the number line of cups you put in. Ok back to the review!! It does not stick at all, the non stick coating is great, as long as you do...Read more
n't use an abrasive sponge to clean it, it will be fine! I love the fact that for the size cooker it is it has a minimum of 2 cup fill line, most others In that size have min 4 cup, with two of us to cook for, 2 cups is ample!! Also love the cord being totally detachable from the cooker. Cooks in less than 30 minutes!! Cooker comes with cup, spoon, steamer insert and glass lid so i can see how the rice is going!!! I have Breville toaster, toastie maker, flat toastie maker, blender, hand mixer!!! All fantastic and great value for money :) defiantly worth buying!! Cooks fast, great non stick!! Fluffy perfectly cooked WHITE rice :) Can not fault anything as yet! I'm sure as long as I use it correctly nothing will go wrong I'm hoping!!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Awesome Rice, no power button
Not sure why it doesn't have a power button, but I just unplug the cord. The rice it makes is the best I've had. Use it twice a week and clean up is a breeze. I cook Jasmine rice 2 cups of water and 2 cups of rice after washing the rice then pack it in one of those plastic take away containers.
Rice is perfect

Works beautifully
I've been using this cooker for a couple of years now, no problems at all.
It works perfectly as per directions. For white rice, I use the measuring cup provided and use equal amounts of rice to water. For those people who have problems with it, especially with spitting, are you sure you're washing the rice properly first? That may make the difference. You should half fill it with water first, and use a non-scratch implement (I use wooden chopsticks) to swish the rice around quite a bit, pour out the water, then repeat a couple more times. his removes all the starch from the rice. Add the correct amount of water for cooking, and go. I had a couple of cheap Kambrook rice cookers before this one; they were fine, but broke after a year or so. This one has lasted longer than both of those combined. Loving it. Easy to use, sturdy, easy to clean. More recipes in the instruction book would be great.1 comment

What can I say
I bought this rice cooker, it says nonstick, dont believe it. When it is boiling it sprays the water every where. It keeps changing the mode to keep warm mode before even the water boils. Waste of money if you ask me. Spend a little more and buy a reputable better brand.
Sprays water every where while boiling, keep changing mode, rice stick to it.

Great value for money
I bought the rice cooker today and couldn't wait to try it. It is certainly very easy to use, no-brainer really. The elements are easy to clean and for 3 cups of rice it took about 15 minutes from set to go. I may need to experiment with the quantities of water, as the rice was well cooked but quite dry - I followed the user manual, but think I'll put some more water in next time. There was some rice stuck to the bottom of the pan, but definitely nothing browned or burnt - it lifted easily and the rice separated nicely after being turned over f...Read more
ew times with the plastic spoon. My first impression is quite positive and if I can get the rice to be moister then I'd say this is a great little rice cooker. Easy to use, no mess, excellent value After one use my only concern is that the rice was quite dry, but hopefully this will be rectified by adding some more water.Similar opinion? Terrible
I had an old Kambrook that was really cheap and worked perfectly but wanted a new rice cooker just because I felt like a change. This rice cooker leaves a crust of rice baked at the base that needs to be soaked off overnight. It always comes out dry and I have to add extra water which is very hit and miss with the rice coming out gluggy or dry. But the one constant is the rice that gets stuck on the bottom. It is very wasteful as the rice on the base gets thrown out.
Faulty non stick

Quite good
The rice cooker does it job without burning the rice but one thing i dont like is that quite an amount of rice gets clustered together and forms this peel at the bottom. This is totally wasted and I throw it in the sink while washing the pot and then to the bin.
I'm also concerned that the whole pot made out of Teflon? If so then this product is no good for me. I will seek out a better product than Breville.
Energy efficient; fast cooker....
No proper info about what elements the pot is made out of

Disappointed
Despite following the instructions carefully, the rice is seldom ready when it clicks from 'cook' to 'keep warm'. It is usually either overcooked or undercooked. If it is undercooked and out of water and has flipped to 'keep warm' cycle I try to add more, but then I can't turn it back to 'cook'.
It spits a lot of starch all over the kitchen counter and floor.
If I don't turn it off as soon as it flips from the 'cook' to 'keep warm', it burns the bottom of the rice on the 'keep warm' cycle. It is very hard to measure the amount of water ...Read more
required. We have to use a torch as the instructions say to fill it up to a number on the inside of the bowl. This number is just an indent of the same colour and is impossible to read in low light. We have given up trying to make brown rice as it never works. Doesn't cook rice well.1 comment

Great Small Kitchen Appliance
I was recently given one of these Rice Cookers as a house warming present. Previous to this, I had seen them advertised and had seen them around but had never paid too much attention to them.
Not really knowing what to expect, I took it out of the box, gave the cooking bowl a quick wash and it was up and running in a couple of minutes. You simply add the raw rice, add the water, flick the switch and away it goes. You don't need to keep an eye on it, once its ready it stays warm until you are ready to serve.
One feature that I feel is mi...Read more
ssing, is an alarm that tells you when the rice is ready, though because of the 'keep warm' setting, this isn't a huge issue. The Rice Master also comes with a steaming tray, I personally haven't used this, though I have heard from friends and family that it works great. A couple of the reviews below have mentioned that the rice sticks to the bowl and gets burnt. I experienced this the first couple of times I used it, the 'burning' is only a slight browning of the rice on the bottom of the bowl. This is caused when you leave the rice for too long after it has finished cooking. Further, I found that you simply add a little more water to the rice and this almost removes this. Washing up is also a breeze as well, with the non-stick bowl, simply remove the left over rice and give it a quick rinse.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Too easy
Too easy even for the non chefs!
Set and leave, I made spicy rice and was it was very nice.A bit different from the norm. Easy to clean and no rice water overspill on my SS cook top...bonus!
At $18.95 it's a bargain, make up rice then leave till your ready.

Good
I find the rice cooker a great help, no more cold meals waiting for the rice to cook. This rice cooker works well, although the recommended water measures seemed inaccurate and we have developed our own system. I haven't used other rice cookers but I would recommend this one.
Looks good, rice cookers are so convenient and help takes out the timing dilemmas when cooking
The suggested water measures were not enough. We tend to make our own judgements with much more success. It does leave quite a bit of starch steam residue around the kitchen bench but I think that is to be expected.

Excellent
Good product that works and creates great rice. You should experiment with it as well and try different things from the book.
Great and easy to use. The smaller unit is also better for 2 people and takes up less room when storing.
Not a product problem, but cooking brown rice is very messy compared to white, and take 3 times longer to cook.

Those people that can't cook rice with this item are surely not reading the instructions properly.
This has to be one of the easiest machines in the kitchen to use. From the first time of use this has produced excellent rice. Rice is perfectly cooked, fluffy and us kept warm just at the right temperature - and it even looks good sitting on the bench
Efficient, does what is meant to do - makes great rice

OK
This rice cooker seems to cook too hot for too long. I have to lift the bowl to make the unit switch to warm setting to switch the cook function off. This stops the rice sticking. I also stir once during cook time. The steamer insert is good for small veg which can be added to rice after it is cooked.(veg can be mushy if cooked in with the rice) makes beautiful risotto using stock instead of water. I have had this cooker for 6 months and use it twice a week. The coating has not started to come off yet.
can cook risotto
overcooks rice sticks to pan

Why didn't I find you sooner.....
Really good being able to just put in the rice and water, turn on, walk away and come back when you like. Breville recommends you turn the rice once it has finnished cooking....I forgot and came back to it about 1/2 an hour later, everthing was all good. I took out the rice, washed the bowl with a sponge, nothing stuck or peeled. Love it.
So much for so little cost....Not messy to use....Easy to clean and Stack....The rice turns out GREAT.

You can however I do 2 cups rice to 6 cups water with the cup provided.
A skin still forms on base of pan however stirring it immediately after it pings cooked, will break it up.
I also never leave cooked Brown Rice on the Warm setting - eat it straight away or remove from pan & store in airtight container.
Yes you can cook brown rice, but it requires more water than for white varieties.
White rice: 2 cups of rice to 2 cups of water.
Brown rice: 2 cups of rice to 3 cups of water.
It's very important to note here that "cups" does not mean a standard metric cup measure, but the special measuring cup provided with the unit.
