Barista Express BES870

I have been enjoying my Barista Espresso BES870XL for about two years with proper maintenance routines. Recently the grinding amount adjustment knob does not work. No matter where you put it, it produces the same amount of ground coffee. I use it to adjust the amount of grinding according to the hardness and roasting of the grain. Can you help me solve this problem? Thank you

Barista Express BES870

Been enjoying this machine for 1 month, but now before pressure builds it cuts off. Needle gets to about half-pressure, or less, and then game-over. Very dissapointing after a few weeks of good shots!

We have an intermittent problem with our Breville Barista Express, which seems to be happening more often. When the coffee starts to extract it starts off normally for the first second or two and then starts hissing and foaming and we end up with a foamy terrible tasting shot. The machine is a few years old and we replaced the shower screen seal a year ago but it made no difference.

Maybe the machine has had its days. My last machine was a sunbeam. That lasted 3 years until it died. Just made a terrible coffee and I couldn’t fix it. Maybe call Breville or it could be time for a new machine

Barista Express BES860

I am having an issue with my BES860. If pressing the two cup button with no group handle in it, the water will just keep flowing out & would empty the full water container if I let it. I have tried resetting back to factory settings multiple times and would work straight away but the next day would bug out on me again. I’ve also tried unplugging at the power point & plugging back in, resetting again & still not fixing the issue & will not even revert back to factory settings anymore :( HELP!

Take the machine back where you brought it and they should replace it. I’m on my 4th machine lol.....the second machine I got wouldn’t even turn on. The 4th seems to be working fine for now. Anymore questions let me know !!

Oh wow! You’ve not had much luck! Unfortunately my machine is about 5 years old so may have to source a part online.

I have had my Breville Barista Express machine for about 3 years and for the last 18 months I cannot get it to make a decent cup of coffee. The pressure gauge won’t move off zero regardless of what adjustments with regard to grind etc. It worked well for the first year and I always had perfect crema with no problem so very disappointed. I bought this machine because my brother had had one for about six years and he had no problems with his. I think the later models must have been made cheaper after looking through the complaints. Not good enough Breville!

Hi Robin, I had this issue and I called Breville and it's had to go in for repairs. My machine is only 2 months old. According to the repairer, it's a circuit board problem with either the water and/or grind continuing and not stopping. Mine was the water extraction.

Barista Express BES870BSS (Brushed Stainless Steel)

Hi,

I have recently purchased a Breville BES870. It apparently works normally, but after finishing an espresso extraction, it makes a gurgling noise that lasts about 20 to 30 seconds. Is this noise normal?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Alida...you might have to experiment a little with the bean grind control & try different ‘finer’ & ‘coarser’ settings. I’ve had similar & just try & few different settings.

Had a similar problem with my machine. Breville kept blaming the quality of the beans. After months of complaining they finallly paid for it to be freighted to a repairer (I live in regional Qld) Surprise!!! It was faulty & they repaired it

My pressure gauge needle moves midway into the grey zone then after just a few seconds there is a "pop" sound like a valve has opened the needle drops back to zero while the water continues to flow resulting in a poor result, I'm thinking it may be a faulty pressure relief valve, has anyone else had this problem? The machine is a Breville Express BES870
