I bought a Breville coffee machine in May 2022. It worked fine and in December I had problems. The red light came on but coffee didn’t filter through. I took it back to the store and it was replaced. 2nd machine has been fine until this morning. Same problem with light on but it won’t make coffee! I’m quite disappointed as it’s a fantastic machine and coffee is excellent. Please let me know what needs doing!! It’s lockdown and the store is still closed! I’m contacting you from Namibia, so cannot call helpline. Thank you...... J Stafford

Sounds like your machine needs cleaning, it is blocked. Add two thirds water and one third white vinegar to tank. Place jug in position as if you are making coffee and just turn on. Let it drip through and then tip out jug. Run a tank of clean water through coffee machine and then it should be good to go, if not repeat process. Rinse out filter and jug to get rid of vinegar aftertaste. If you don't want to use vinegar you can purchase a descaling cleaner from the supermarket. You should clean your machine approx. every month, if you use daily.

My coffee always tastes burnt coming out of this machine. Is there any temperature control for the water? Or, what temperature should the water be going into the carafe?

I have just bought the BCM600 and when I put water in the tank it started to drip straight away even though I didn't have the carafe on the hotplate. It stops dripping when there is about 1/2 a cup of water in the tank but as soon as I put more water in it, it starts to drip again.

Automatically set for two hours but you can just press start again and it will stay warm for another two hours.

The manual and auto brew switching functions are operating as prescribed in the BCM600 User Manual however the water is not heating and consequently no brewing occurs. In addition the hot plate under the jug is not heating either. I'm therefore suspecting the heating elements have failed but without a circuit or schematic diagram to troubleshoot the device I'm stuck. Anyone out there with any clues?

Think you have a major fault there, Take it back to the retailer for REPLACEMENT. Have burnt myself a few times on my hotplate and that was my own fault.

I don't think this machine is going to make the coffee recipe you want. It is just for brewed normal coffee. Pity because your coffee sounds delicious.

Looks like you have a faulty one. Mine always stays on after it has finished brewing and stays on until I turn it off.

Thanks, I thought so as it used to come on. Only bought cut 3 weeks ago!

Hi with this machine once the coffee machine goes cold can you push power again to reheat if you still have a lot of coffee left in the jug? My old coffee machine would just keep regulating itself all day

I don't know for sure but I think every time you turn it on it will try to brew coffee (as in heat and cycle the water that's in the tank).
If it goes cold you would be better off pouring it into a cup and reheating in the microwave as required. I suppose you could put the whole jug in the microwave if you wanted the lot heated up.

If I had left over coffee that goes cold I usually put it in the fridge, then I can use it for kind of like an iced coffee or reheat in the microwave if I really want (or use it in cooking as well).

I'm not sure as I've never tried it. But it usually keeps its warm for 2 hours after brewed. So we would normally drink it all by then.

Is the back of the coffee maker where you put in the water stainless steel or plastic?

The external panels are stainless but the inside of it is all plastic, including the compartment where the water is poured and the part where the mesh filter sits.

Do you use paper filters in the mesh filter?

Yes, I use Harris size 4 paper filter.
I prefer it with the filter as we ground our coffee fine.

No I don't use paper filters. I believe it's not recommended to do so.

On another note if you buy freshly roasted coffee beans (from places that sell freshly roasted beans) you can actually ask for them to grind the beans to suit a drip style coffee maker. They grind it to a coarser grind compared to espresso, probably leads to a better flavour. I have used espresso grind without a problem though.

Has anyone here owned the Breville BCM600 as well as a Sunbeam PC7900?
I just wanted to know if anyone has a direct comparison between the two, which you thought was better and why?

I've read the reviews but still tossing up between the two. Probably leaning towards the Breville at this stage.

Hi

Yes if you phone the company who make it they will either replace the part under warranty or if it’s out of warranty you might be able to perchase a new part.

Type in the code and you might be able to get it online as well check eBay.

Hi

It could be that it has a bit of blockage in it and has hardened strip it down and give it a good wash with hot water to unblock. If that does not work take it back as it could be faulty.

Dono

Also make sure you have put all that you wash in the right way as it can block were the tea or coffee comes out.

Hi Ange, I don't know about the costs but Breville has a very good customer service and you may find more info at their website. This machine doesn't take pods.

Dono

This machine does not take pods or filter the filter in it is washable unless you damage or break it you would need to phone the company who make it and they might send you a replacement part or tell you to buy a new machine.

Will the machine stop when it has run out of water?

2 answers
Will Dias
Will Dias

Yes, and you should keep it turned on so the hotplate can keep running so coffee is always hot. When the water runs out, it just stops pouring - works on natural ebullition, no pumps or complicated risky things in it, all good.
