Hi there. A problem others have mentioned above, but with no answer that I can see... the water stops pumping through the coffee at anywhere from 20 to 30 seconds. I thought this was a manual machine? It's not such a problem making a single shot - that's roughly the time required. But for a double, it should pour for longer right? Why is the auto cut-off?

Hi
I have not experienced this problem at all !
Machine is completely manual, I make sure out of habit that I fill the tank every time I turn on the machine !
I make up to 6 cups a day and multiple cups all the time for no issues at all.
This is a very capable machine in my opinion.
I must add that I use the whole (double) shot for a single cup as I like a strong cup. I do not put 2 cups under filter at once!

What beans do you use

We've tried Bean'd, Illy, Industrie, Republica Coffee and Aldi's Lazzio brand. Bean'd has probably given us the best results.

I bought this machine 17 months ago. While i love the machine and it makes great coffee i would have loved it to have worked for a bit longer. Can’t extract coffee from the machine. It simply doesn’t work anymore. Now to take it to someone to fix is simply not viable. A tad annoyed. Kathryn.

I have had my BES810 for a year now cleaning regularly, this morning no coffee would come out, the last time this happened I cleaned the machine and the filter cup, however this has not fixed the problem this time
I have tried reducing the amount of coffee ground in the filter cup but that hasn’t worked, only a few dribbled of coffee come out and when I remove the filter cup after turning the water off there is a lot of pressure and the coffee grind is very watery. Any ideas?

Since it appears that the pump is working, but not going through the filter cup, the filter cup must be blocked. All I can suggest is that the filter cup needs a more detailed cleaning. Make a coffee using a different filter cup and see what happens.
Hi sledgehammer I have tried with a different filter on and it is the same outcome
Normal logical process of action for me
1. Check the manual
2. Google search
3. Contact Breville
Please share the outcome.

Is the water hot with your machine? Mine is just warm, because of this, the coffee tastes weak and disgusting. I'm trying to work out if I need to exchange or refund...

The water is so hot that it needs to be sipped. Any more than that and you would burn your tongue.
Mine is hot too...
Thanks for your answers. I will get it exchanged. Mine is no where near the same temperature as yours.

I bought my Duo Temp Pro 3 years ago and have gotten so much use out of it. It has become a huge part of my every day routine! I absolutely love it!!! Yesterday it started fizzling while extraction leaving me with only 3 drops of coffee rather than a whole shot. I keep my machine very clean and regularily descale. My 2 year warrantee is already expired and i'm hoping this is something I can fix! Any suggestions/feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Can i use this for small coffee shop?
1 answer
As I only use mine at home for maybe 5 or so cups per day plus tea using the hot water feature, I can't honestly say whether this machine would be able to carry out commercial duty. But I will say that it's very well made and very sturdy. I guess it's up to you but maybe, at least, a higher level model with dual boilers and bigger pump may be better? Perhaps a call to. Breville may help? They're very helpful usually. Hope this helps?

Does any one else have a thumping noise when steaming?
Grahamasked
My Breville Duo Temp model BES810 has had the steam nozzle break off where it attaches to the unit. The machine works great so this seems like a real shame. More precisely the plastic sleeve on the inner section of where it attaches has perished and given way. Apart from this the whole machine is perfect. What can be done too fix this ?

Stick to espressos and long blacks?? :)
but seriously, that would be the perfect machine for me. So if you find it isn't fixable, find somebody who only drinks black coffee to contribute towards a replacement.
(I presume postage to Gladstone would rule me out.)
Never come across this problem so can't be much help. But suggest looking on the net for Breville Spare parts dealers.. there are a couple in Oz. As the steam wand is just a part a FB joins to the unit with a nut etc it should be available as a spare. Or perhaps call Breville for info.. or even the part but unless under warranty it may be an expensive exercise. Hope this is of some help.
Funny enough I’m a black coffee man but the wife...... given its still in great nick it’s such a pity. It’s a little plastic sleeve inside the attachment that has deteriorated and parted

I have only made one coffee with the machine, as it was bought it only this morning. It is a replacement for the "S" brand Cafe Crema 2 which like many others on Product Review, started to operate very hot, with the pump uncontrolled and filling the drip tray, as well as leaking.
If you would please answer this question & comment on my observations, I would appreciate it.
When running the Espresso into the mug, unlike the "S" brand, it cuts out at about 30 seconds, leaving the mug 1/2 full. I know they recommend 30 seconds of extraction, but is this normal for this machine?
The other things is, that after having run the coffee, and then frothing the milk, and turning the knob back to the standby central position, the machine comes alive again with noise and steam sound *briefly. Is this normal?
I thank you in advance for your reply!

I know this question was asked a while ago but I just saw it and this is something I can answer for others to see as well so I will take the opportunity. I am sure you, Thaifan, have already found the answers by now. I don't know about the cutting out at 30 sec part, since this is essentially a manual machine. Mine cuts out after a much longer time if i leave it running, and that is a safety feature to not let the machine run dry. I am supposed to stop the extraction myself at the desired time which is the recommended 30 sec.
But the machine coming alive after frothing the milk is a normal process. The steam is made at a much higher temp than the coffee so after frothing, the machine cools down to the coffee temp again. Thats what the machine is doing when it seems to come alive briefly, cooling down.
Yes, the machine should make a noise after frothing the milk. The machine is cooling the thermoblock, so if you straight away make another cup of coffee, the next cup of coffee will be the right temperature and not burnt. You will read reviews of other machine, in which Reviewers say the coffee had a burnt taste. This will not happen with the Breville Duo Pro.
And yes, the crema will stop flowing after a short period, Sometimes you will get more crema, and I think this has to do with how much pressure you applied in tamping the coffee with the built in tamper.

Why does my duo temp pro automatically shut off after roughly 40 seconds? I thought it was manually? Is this a safety feature? Is it hard on the machine?
1 answer
If your talking about it shutting off whilst giving you a shot of coffee, this is because it is a standard shot of coffee, you then add your milk or hot water depending on what sort of coffee your making. This stops you from getting burnt coffee taste.

The machine worked fine now it doesn't make that noise when brewing coffee and barley any coffee is coming out. I cleaned everything out and still nothing. Any help?

This would be a sign of over extraction, a result of using too fine of a grind size with dual wall pressurized filters. Try a slightly coarser grind size or the single wall non pressurized filters.
