Coffee addiction is no joke, need a good machine.
Surprisingly powerful unit, but noisy. I s'pose can't have power without resultant noise. Mine gets a lot of use, because I have a coffee-related problem.
Negatives:
Developed a small leak in the water feed line (self-repaired).
Basket handle came loose (self-repaired)
Positives:
Provides a good strong shot
Very user-friendly
Cleans up easily
Program feature is nifty
Included items (filters, various baskets) all good quality

This Machine Is Soooo Perfect I Couldn't Live Without It, Seriously!
I replaced an Aldi machine which made only ten coffees and died on me (!) with this "little Breville gem". Now, to their credit and following a complex process, Aldi reimbursed me. This "little Breville wonder" I highly recommend to anyone serious about drinking -real- cups of espresso coffee -my method below will give you a coffee BETTER than an expensive one purchased from a trendy coffee shop...-, you will achieve the best espresso money can buy, no worries at all. There are two secrets about achieving such a feat: 1) Buy quality coffee bean...Read more
s, I buy myself Illy arabica beans I mix with Vittoria Arabica beans (Special Italian Blend) found everywhere (the proportion is roughly half and half). 2) You will need a proper grinder, I use the Breville BCG820, also a "little wonder" and frankly, without it you will not achieve the same result. I set it on 1 shot/6seconds grind time/14 size grain. Enjoy a fantastic espresso, as good as any expensive one from a coffee shop, in Australia or abroad!1 comment

Find out how Breville Infuser BES840CRN (Cranberry) compares to other Manual / Semi-Automatic Coffee Machines
Know better, choose better.
Is it the basket?
the machine works well with single shot basket. Good pressure nice extraction etc. When using the double shot basket i can not get the pressure as high as i would like no matter what grind or tamping pressure or how full the basket. Do i need to change the basket or am I missing something?

What grinder are you using? ^PM
i am using a sunbeam coffee grinder that worked well with my previous espresso machine. I get good pressure when using the single shot basket.

Are both the single and the double baskets "single wall"? There is no reason you'd not be able to get good pressure with the double if you are with the single other than grind fineness or dose ^PM

Nice and does its job well
I came to the Breville infuser from an expensive twice the price sunbeam em7000 that lasted me just over 12 months.. and I have say coming from the bigger machine, the infuser felt really really small at first and I had my doubts.
The other thing that struck me was that the infuser definitely feels slower then the machine I had previously .. that being said. The infuser has grown on me alot
I have the cranberry and it looks great in the kitchen
Unless you want to do ESE pods this machine unlike others comes with all you need as sto...Read more
ck standard accessories .. I really like that as well as the hidden drawer in the machine you have to store all your little pieces (Awesome addition) In terms of making coffee as I said it feels a little slower then the bigger machine I had and I do miss the milk temp feature I had on my other machine ...but the Breville infuser is probably all a home needs in terms of a espresso maker .. it really can make a decent cup .. Just make sure you have a reasonably decent grinder A decent machine .. my only regret is that I listened to coffee snobs and didnt buy this one first over the Sunbeam .. If this machine can last more than a year .. I will be very happy and the price atm is very good if you look aroundSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Impossible to make bad coffee
I've had this machine for a couple of months now. I thought I'd use the machine for a while before I reviewed it. Ahhh this machine makes fantastic coffee. My wife and I couldn't live without it and I'll never drink instant coffee again. I purchased the machine after seeing the performance ranking on the Choice product testing site ranked it above machines triple it's price. If you're after an easy to use manual coffee machine this is the one to get. The frother works great. The machine pre-infuses the coffee with low pressure steam before it e...Read more
spressos. As with all espresso machines the only trick is to get the grounds to the right fineness and the tamping pressure right so the steam pressure needle sits in the "goldilocks zone". Once you're there you'll make something a seasoned Barista would be impressed with. Espresso Martini. 2 shots Vodka, 1/2 shot Kahlua, 1/2 shot creme de cacao and a shot of fresh brewed coffee. MWAH. Bellisimo! Consistently good coffee. Easy to clean.2 comments
4 years on and I still use this every day to make my coffee before work. Hasn't skipped a beat. Now have a Breville conical grinder to compliment this machine and it is still making a perfect brew every time.
...AAAAAAAND I just jinxed myself. A few weeks after this update the machine started leaking from somewhere inside the body. Ah well... got a good 4 & 1/2 years out of it so I went along to the Good G... Read more
uys and got another for only $450. It's identical (but sadly they only have silver) and I'm making perfect coffee again. If I can get another 4+ years out of this new machine then I'll be very happy. I don't know why Breville discontinuing this model. I got one of the last ones for sale in Melbourne so I guess my machine breaking down was good timing?Similar opinion? Hi, i've had our infuser for about 3years now and love it. We clean it fairly regularly (when prompted) but do live in a hard water area. In the last week the steam wand has stopped producing steam. When i turn the dial to steam milk, the steam actually comes out of the espresso and nothing comes out of the steam wand. I suspect there is a blockage somewhere. Any ideas? Thanks, i need coffee!!!

Hi I've had my machine since August 2013 and have had a few issues periodically with it. I've had to replace the solenoids twice over that time, and now if I turn it on at the wall, the pump goes all the time and water comes out from underneath the machine onto the bench and won't stop. While it makes really nice coffee, I am the only one in our house that uses it so it doesn't get heaps of use, but I must admit to being a little disappointed that for the price of it, it hasn't lasted longer. Does anyone have any suggestions as to why it's suddenly leaking? I did clean it with white vinegar and water as per the cleaning instructions last week. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Dawn.

If you can't service it yourself, you really need to have it serviced. "Pump goes on all the time when the machine is on" does not sound good. Cleaning won't help a leak. Most important is to find out where the leak is coming from. I'm not intimately familiar with your model, but I believe a normal BES840 should have a clear plastic nozzle on the right side at the very bottom, that ejects water after a steam, etc. It's an overpressure valve. If the drip tray is not fully inserted, or missing, then of course water will leak onto the counter the machine is on. Doubt thats the source of your leaks, but it doesn't hurt to check.
