Are you able to do delay start so you can prep the night before and does it come with a stainless steel rack or will any one be fit.
2 answers
Hi Bel, It doesn't have a timer on it, so the only way to delay the start is to not turn it on...
But yes, it does come with a stainless steel rack so you can do roasts etc.
Hi Bel,
No you can not delay start times with this slow cooker, it only has a dial with High, Low, Auto & Off. Yes it comes with a stainless steel rack to cook roasts & other meals on.

We were given this very large cooker as a gift, and as there are only two of us most of the time, I wondered whether it's possible to halve the quantities in the recipes?
1 answer
For sure but what you need to be careful of that ot doesnt burn. What you could do us make extra freeze whats left over and then there's another nights dinner. I wish I could do that but with a teenage son who has mates here when its our turn (there's 6 of them and they take it in turns of clearing the pantry and fridge out) there's never any left I made a full sc full of sprag bol and it was all gone within half and hour. Ive now got the beville sc smart heat and it doesnt burn anything

Can this go in the oven?
2 answers
Yes it can. The only thing Ive find is the non stick coating starts to peel of after a while. I've now got the beville smart heat which cant go in the oven but its fanastic cant go in the oven but I think its way better
Thanks Tease! I tried it last night actually and was fine but will keep in mind your experience in saying that the non stick might peel. Appreciate your answer. I love his model of slow cooker and now I know it go stove and oven also, in moderation perhaps, it's even better.

Probably through beville
You can buy a replacement from Big Warehouse Spares: http://spares.bigwarehouse.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=64928_69434_86581&products_id=1744433 - $76 plus shipping. Given you can buy a whole cooker for about $140, this isn't a terrible idea if your cooker is still in good order.

Caz S.asked
I have a Flavour Maker BSC500. Whenever I use a recipe that requires a liquid to be added, the liquid never reduces during cooking. When the meal is cooked it is swimming in liquid and I have to thicken it with Arrowroot. Does this happen to anyone else? I really don't think I should be having to do this every time I cook with it. It also barely simmers on the high setting.
1 answer
The liquid is not supposed to reduce but I remove the lid & operate the cooker on high setting for 30-40mins or until liquid reduces by the desired amount. Alternatively, the liquid can be thickened by adding a mixture of cornflour and water and cooking On High setting without the lid until sauce has thickened

Annieasked
Does it take up of electricity after 7 hours of slow cooking?
2 answers
I'm sorry Annie I have no enduring Power Of Attorney in the State of Victoria, Australia and all of my funds are under the control of a Trust by order of a Victorian Court. This being the case I no longer pay my electricity bill myself, my trust does this for me now and so I have no idea of how much electricity my Breville BSC560 Flavor Maker uses or what its use costs me.
Yes it does a little but the taste of the food will out weigh the small cost.
Mia00asked
Hi Breville team,
I notice the Low setting on the Flavour Maker 560 (ie. 7litre) simmers a lot more than i'd expect. Is there an automatic boil-dry safety off switch in this appliance?
I am envisioning a scenario where I am late back from work or unexpectedly stuck in traffic and the food boils dry...
Thanks :)
1 answer
Yes I have had several slow cookers over the years but this has the food bubbling furiously on the low setting. Don't know if mine is faulty? I certainly wouldn't ever use the high setting.
