The Breville toaster shure looks robust and I am shure it is but after around 11 months use it stopped working, We returned it to the store Billy Guyets and they sent us a new Breville (same Model) we have been using it now for around 3 months with no trouble and are satisfied with

Whilst the toaster has lots of good features, it is a pretty pricey toaster and worked well. Until a loud pop sound resulting in all the lights continuing to happen, but alas no heat generation. So appears some sort of heating element failure. One week past the twelve month warranty. Alas.

This is one of the best toasters I have ever purchased. The ability to cook 4 slices at once saves time and effort. I just love the crumpet function which cooks crumpets mainly on one side only too perfection. The look and list makes it easy to see if the toast needs abit more time and makes it easier to remove from the toaster when done

Rubbish product, Rubbish after care service. Indicative of current Australian Standards!!!
We have owned our ($129) 4 slice toaster for approx. 21 months...used it barely 18 months. Its never been great, with the lever stretched to maximum darkness for toasting and the bread is still blonde. However, we pursued with the rubbish toaster as the next day, it would have to be adjusted to 2 and it will burn the bread. We just went with it. Not sure what the Crumpet function does...appears to be no different to other functions. Then, just 2 weeks ago, the toaster pops the bread up every 2 seconds with the cancel button flashing. Almost...
Read more like the product is possessed, the cancel button flashes and beeps even when turned off at the mains! The toaster is regularly cleaned out, in theory, it should not have just STOPPED working. Of course, its out of replacement warranty, but still under STATUTORY WARRANTY (2 years people....the big companies won't tell you that and will not honour it!). When contacting Breville, they acknowledged my email (at least) BUT offered a replacement for $75 with free delivery....WTH??? As I wasn't keen on even receiving a response, I went to KMART, spent $35, am anticipating this toaster will last me 12 months, in which case, I can go and buy another one and still be out in front financially than taking up the 'dud' offer from Breville to pay $75 for a piece of crap. When I conveyed this to the 'Ask Us' CSO, the reply I got was "Thank you for your reply" Regards...[name removed] Bravo Breville. Another useless Australian company with another useless Australian appliance.Find out how Breville Lift & Look Pro BTA720 / BTA730 compares to other Toasters

Where do I start?
Bought this toaster at JB HiFi on the 23rd of March 2018. It was a birthday gift.
When presenting the gift we noticed the crumpet button not lighting up so the next day we took it back to JB HiFi for a refund as they didn't have one to exchange. OK.
I took a trip down to Myer as they had the same toaster. After feeling a bit burnt by the last toaster I asked the sales man if I could test this one in store because we just returned a faulty one. After 10 mins he spoke to his manager (Myer doesn't permit testing of their...
Read more appliances in store) they let me test the toaster in store. WoW!! Surprise Surprise!!! Most of the lights didnt work on this toaster either!! I was shocked to be honest so this was a tiresome day and I thought I'd share my experience. Hopefully it helps someone stay clear of certain models.

Bought this 4 slicer for $80 at the final days of Dick Smith, and thought it was a bargain. What a mistake. Got about 12 months of performance out of it before it started to inconsistently cook the toast, prematurely eject toast and refuse to stay down on occasion. Finally refused to start today and it promptly got binned after about 20 months of inconsistent use. I just want to point out that the electric toaster was invented in 1893 and that after 125 years Breville still can't work out how to make one work for consumers. I would have given them the benefit of the doubt except all of the negative reviews on this product show this to be the standard, not the exception.

Best toaster that we have ever had. Buy the 4 slice option was the best idea. We can do crumpets, pancakes, focassia, bread rolls and standard roast too. The pre-defined options to reheat (“a bit more”), defrost (“frozen”), and specifically toast “crumpets or fruit bread” come in handy. You can also cancel toast with one click if you think its’s burning. One of my favourite Breville products! Worth the extra investment. It has a pull-out base tray for cleaning which is better than most toasters but unfortunately the entire base is not removable...
Read more. Bought our about two years ago and still as good as new. Slightly buffed stainless finish means finger prints are less noticeable too. Bought from a The Good Guys with Conceirge warranty but have not needed to use warranty protection as yet.Related Articles
We purchased the toaster a couple of weeks ago and so far we are very happy! It toasts very evenly and we love the features! Our only two complaints are that the stainless on the outside looks a little bit bumpy on the edges (obviously can’t be helped because it is stainless) and also that it would be nice if the toaster was a little bit deeper. Other than that - it’s great! We went from the Breville four slice Smart Toaster to this one, and are much happier with the size and weight - it’s so much easier to store!

An inconsistent toaster that is not worth your top dollar. The bread is so dry and the degree it toasts the bread on the same setting varies so wildly. I go to my parents home, throw some bread into their $15 Kmart toaster and the bread comes out wonderfully. Been having toast nearly every day for 30 years and this is by far the driest toast ever.

This is the worst toaster I've ever had. The toast gets stuck, doesn't cook, then all the lights flash and I have to turn it off, so I never have hot cooked toast when I want it. Then I somehow have to try and get the bread out of the slots with the arms jammed shut. Appalling. What a rip off at $130.00. It's going on the garbage collection pile and I will never buy a Breville appliance again.I should have returned it a long time ago but it was a gift.

As other reviewers have noted, this toaster has some sort of fault that causes it to pop up a few seconds after pressing the lever down. This usually happens a few times before you can get it to stay down and it always pops up just as you walk away! Very frustrating.
Never consistent, burns sometimes, cooks only one side other times?!
We have several other Breville appliances which we are happy with, this toaster is not one of them.
Edit: We had several other Breville appliances we were happy with! Bought a kettle at the same time as toaster and now that has started playing up, starts to boil, stops, starts again, stops! Can't boil more than two cups of water. Hoping our Breville coffee machine doesn't break down now!

Making a toaster that does what it says, ie makes toast, isn't rocket science. I mean, how hard can it be? Obviously for breville very hard. This toaster has been replaced, but does the same thing as the original. When you press the leaver to toast, it pops back up. After a few attempts it stays down, but then you find that the bottom half of the bread is toasted before the top half. So to compensate I invert the bread half way through the cycle and go through the pop up routine again. May as well have an old-fashioned manual toaster. For a company that can make some good products this one has to be their worst.

I like the size of this toaster for toasting larger slices of bread but was concerned about the reviews. Decided to try by buying from a nearby retailer and kept the receipt and warrently card in a safe place. It toasted well for the first month but not long after it started popping up after a few seconds on some occasions. Didn’t even make it to 3 months before the leaver would not stay down at all. Took it back to the retailer and got a refund. Will give another brand a go.

It was probably among the most expensive toaster to buy, but a friend of mine had it and so before buying it I perfectly knew how well it works. It has settings for crumpets, fruit loaf slices or normal bread. Everything comes out perfect. Nice design, easy to clean too.

The toast always pops up before it has finished, sometimes it happens straight after it is put in. It's now happening more frequently and sometimes I have to push it down 6+ times to get a lightly toasted piece. It also has the standard toaster issue of not toasting evenly

I recently purchased our Breville 4 slice toaster and now it is not toasting properly. I normally love all of Breville's products but this one hasn't come up to standard. I have to put it on 4 or 5 for it to brown, and sometimes I have to start it all over again toasting.

LOVE the 'lift & look' function, LOVE the 'a bit more' button too, like the crumpet button (cooked a lot of crumpets over winter) - worked ok/same? before I remembered there was a special button though....
Don't like how it QUITE OFTEN immediately pops up when started (can be with one slice or multi slices) within seconds (just after you walked away to do something). Is this a balancing issue? Frustrating... but..
This toaster has lasted longer than last 3 toasters, cooks toast - cooks nice too (not burnt outside/soggy middle like last...
Read more toaster) doesn't burn ever, bit temperamental but quite OK for a middle range toaster. Would definitely re-purchase again as it's held up to daily family use (inc teenagers): morning, sometimes lunch & afternoon tea as well. Easy to clean & labels actually still on after cleaning too. Yep, pretty good.- 3 reviews
So this was my third Breville toaster in a row after returning two Bit More Plus toasters. I was hoping that paying that bit extra may solve the problem I had with the others, but unfortunately they must all share the same mechanics, because I was disappointed again. These have the Bit More button, which is supposed to just give you that little extra hit if the toast pops up underdone. Well no, it just kept on toasting until burnt. And when I put toast in at the max setting on defrost it still often came out underdone. I called Breville customer support, and all they said was to return it. Not helpful at all. So I opted to replace with a Sunbeam which I'm loving.
So disappointed with this Breville product. Paid a lot of money for nothing. I had a sunbeam toaster for 18 years without any bother, then bought this one and had it replaced in first month. Then second one began popping up randomly every couple of seconds....SO FRUSTRATING! It's a simple thing like a toaster, seriously!

Very disappointed in this product, even on the lowest setting with the LED on one we still have to watch the toast or it will burn, I could cook a better piece of toast on the fire out in my backyard !! I will be going back to a $15 reliable toaster, at least it will be trustworthy

Bought this toaster as the element on the old one was starting to go. This new toaster seems to be even worse! It is extremely uneven and you can see the elements are all at different intensities. Try to toast crumpets on crumpet setting and end up black on one side and not cooked on the other. I would say not fit for purpose.

This is by far the worst toaster I've ever owned - and I've owned $7 toasters in the past! I have other Breville products and never had an issue so I thought I was buying a trusted brand. But like other reviews have stated, this does NOT cook toast anywhere near evenly. I've had the toaster about a year now, and in the past few weeks it's got worse - the edges of the toast now go black straight away and the rest of the "toast" is white. It is a piece of junk that will be going in the bin this weekend - I'll probably go back to a $7 toaster. I'll certainly never buy Breville again.

Bread would continually pop up after pushing the lever down. This happened regularly, usually after walking away from the toaster. Very frustrating and would sometimes happen 5 - 6 times before staying down. Would not recommend to anyone. Ended up throwing ours in the bin and bought a cheaper toaster that works beautifully

Purchased after old toaster died. Seems to be working fine for us at the moment. Could have better labeling on the buttons, had to read the instructions to understand what all the colours mean on the buttons. The lifter could go up a little higher as we have burnt our fingers trying to get the toast out. But on the whole it is going well.

My kitchen has many Breville products, The Bakery Boss Mixer (gorgeous, see my review) The coffee machine, Their milk frother and now their toaster. My previous toaster was also Breville and I really wanted to replace it. I don't know the model number but it was a much loved member of my benchtop family. The new Breville does all the same things the old one did but the previous model had a more stylish shape, was more sturdy and the slots were longer which meant four slices of toast fitted more easily. I could not find a better toaster than the...
Read more Breville BTA635 four slice toaster. It's disappointing to go backwards in quality and to see the better toaster (my old one) is discontinued. I would happily have paid more to get my old one back. (It wasn't very old, maybe 4 years) So until Breville find out there are pleanty of people willing to pay for top quality and design and price is not really an issue, I'll put up with this new toaster. Ho hum.Other Toasters
