This is a follow-up review to my original comments on this coffee machine.
My 'Oracle' is now a bit over twelve months old, 23/04/2018, and is still producing excellent and consistent brews. I have noted the several adverse reviews on this machine and I also note that they are mostly talking about machines older than mine, so... so far, so good.
There are so many adjustments and tweaks available on this machine that I find I can alter just about every setting I could possibly need. From the level of grind required for some different beans, to the temperatures of coffee shots and stretched milk; the duration of shots ...Read more
can be set individually for one or two cups and the amount of air introduced to the milk for frothing is set separately to the temperature. My views on the excellence of the overall industrial design of the machine still stand. This is a very attractive outer casing with some very thoughtful features that only become apparent in use. A pretty outer skin with some solid design inside. Routine maintenance and cleaning is simple and usually involves little more than a wipe-down with a damp cloth. Anything more complicated is guided by the machine itself! Overall my thoughts on the Oracle are still very positive and I am delighted to be drinking excellent coffee at home that comes close to the brews produced by the giant wurlitzers and their attendant baristas in the cafés.Purchased in April 2021.

Wouldn't buy this coffee machine
Breville coffee machine has a flaw that becomes obvious ONLY when you start using it. This machine cost me $3000 from Harvey Norman. The plastic filter above the coffee dispenser is poorly made out of plastic. I had this coffee machine for 6 months and this plastic filter cracked due to heat and pressure. It cost $15 to replace. About 8 months after that it happened again. So if you are willing to pay $15 for the hassle of replacing this defective part every 6-8 months fine. Well I was extremely upset that this is not under warranty. This part ...Read more
is deemed a consumable. I went to Breville dealer in 17 Penhurst Street to buy this part and I noticed that it had a hairline cracked already on this new plastic filter. Very, very poor product and service. Best thing is to stay away from this brand. BREVILLE.Purchased in September 2021 at Harvey Norman for $3,000.00.

After two years needing to spend $600 on repairs
Makes a good coffee. We use it at work (only 3 people), we make three coffees a day. After two years it started to give some error messages. Called Breville and they recommended for us to bring the machine to ExpressoFix. They quoted us $460 for repairs. As the machine is out of warranty Breville refused to assist with getting the machine fixed (out of warranty after 3 MONTHS, because it's used at work and not at home). Breville did not once acknowledge that this shouldn't have happened, they basically just said that it is to be expected/normal...Read more
wear and tear as a result of normal usage. I believe that's poor service for a machine that's only 2 years old and we follow all recommended maintenance. So, out of warranty, so good luck to you!!! Thanks Breville

Such good value for money
My daily job is a barista so I have high expectations in coffee and what I can get out of my coffee machine
This machine is perfect for me it has a hopper to put the beans in which it then grinds - you can change the grind to make it course or fine to get the best extraction out of it
The machine has the option to steam the milk for you which it does a good job or if you’re like me and prefer creamy silky milk you do it yourself
Easy to clean love it to bits

Issue within 2 weeks of purchase
I purchased this on 26Mar2019 and the machine came up with messages “Service, Change Filter and Descale” on 14Apr2019. Reset the machine and the messages came back on 1May2019. Reset the machine again with filter changed and the messages came back on 24May2019. I ended up doing the whole procedure of descale and changed the filter. But after all those procedures, the messages came back on 25May2019. Again reset the machine, but the messages came back on 10Jun2019. I called club oracle on 12Jun2019 and the operator just asked me to unplug the ma...Read more
chine and reset it. I told the operator that I did it and it didn’t work, but the operator just asked me to keep monitoring it. Well I was right, the messages came back on 23Jun2019. I called club oracle again on 24Jun2019 to update the issue, the operator asked me to send it for repair. Well now they left me without coffee machine for unknow time frame. I was going to buy DeLonghi Primadonna Elite, but on that day the lady from from Breville convinced me to buy Breville The Oracle Coffee Machine. She told me it is better quality and cheaper than DeLonghi Primadonna Elite. Maybe just better in price, not quality. I just wasted $2000 for Breville The Oracle Coffee Machine. Breville should replace my coffee machine instead of fixing it because the issue started in 2 weeks of purchased. Not Happy at all. So please do your own research before buying coffee machine, so you don’t have to be fooled by Breville Sales Guys.Purchased in March 2021 at Harvey Norman for $2,000.00.

Two brand new units. Neither heat past 70 degrees
Brand new units setup per manual instructions. Neither heat past 70C. Myer were great and swapped but Breville aren’t available weekends. Tried turning off many times without success as others have suggested. Have reset the unit as well.
I can’t see what I’m missing. Any advice before I return it and go back to my previous brand?

Were you by chance filling the water tanks with demineralized water such as distilled or reverse osmosis? This is advised against by the instructions for a few reasons and may cause what you describe.
No - general tap water which tested at level 2.

And no flashing lights on the unit which might indicate it was attempting to heat, for example, if the steam wand was in a slightly active position, preventing it from reaching final temperature?

Faultless machine
I have owned my Oracle for about 18 months now. I can't express (get the pun) how great this machine is. I normally use the same bean blend from the same supplier. With the grind setting I have set it on it produces a perfect extraction with a massive crema. The milk frother also does a great job. It is easy to clean the machine. Because it is virtually automatic, once you have set it up to make a cup you can walk away and come back when it's done it's job.

Look forward to coffee every morning
Very happy with this coffee machine. It's so easy to use and makes wonderful cappuccinos. It's very helpful to be able to adjust the temperature and the frothiness of the milk. Our friends and family members can't get enough when they visit. Highly recommend!

Great coffee machine
Love love love this machine
Coffee is perfect every time.
Really easy to use
Only had one issue with it and that is the milk no longer froths like it used to. So can only make flat whites no cappuccino or lattes. Consent affect taste just appearance.
Have tried cleaning all the milk frother part but hasn’t made any difference

A perfect wedding gift
Bought this as a wedding gift for my brother. Absolutely loved it. Easy to use and has a lot of settings for everyone's use. There is no standing around holding a jug to froth or steam milk....you just hit the lever and it does it for you with pre-programmed temperature and time! The coffee tastes perfect every time

Breville Oracle
We purchased the Breville Oracle from good guys a week ago, absolutely love this machine! We had the Breville Barista previous and loved that machine but decided to treat ourselves with the Oracle. Being a coffee lover this machine does not disappoint. Don’t think we will be buying coffee from a cafe in a hurry. Definitely 100% recommend booking in for the white glove service that is free and provided at purchase of this awesome machine. Emily from Breville was fantastic, could not be happier with her knowledge and the personal service of her coming to our house and showing the features and run down of the machine. Would definitely recommend this machine to family and friends.

Get what you pay for
Our Breville Oracle is the beating heart of our kitchen! Great machine great coffee
(if you buy fresh roasted beans)
Only criticism is the service costs! Brace yourself come service time! $$$$$
And don’t assume at service time they will replace all the O rings! Yes we paid for a service and had an O ring let go with in 6 months of service and were told they don’t replace anything unless it’s broken!??
Our leaking O ring caused our power safety switch to trip out daily until we fixed the machine?
Breville could do a lot better with the after sale side of business!

Great coffee machine
I did a lot of research on a number of brands and machines before settling on this one and I couldn't be happier. It certainly is cafe quality, if not better. I've been told I'm pretty fussy about my coffee, but this machine consistently produces a great brew with the touch of a few buttons. If you live in Perth like me, make sure you book in the White Glove demo by Emily, she is very professional, friendly and has good tips on getting the most out of the machine to produce the coffee you and your friends like, as well as cleaning and maintenance.

The best coffee machine on the market.
The quality of the coffee brewed can be adjusted to one’s palette with the variable grind control and brewing time.
Consistency in the quality of coffee being brewed can be controlled daily pending on the age of the beans.
The adjustable temperature control is terrific.

Good Coffee Maker
Now I can't say that I am an expert with coffee machines and I fine my self regularly looking at the manual but this is a great coffee machine. It is consistently good and the build quality of it is great. Only issue I face is cleaning it.

Got 12 months, now broken down
The machine produces beautiful coffee, the machine is very consistent, with the veraible temperature
you can have whatever temperature you like. The problem we have had when grinding in to the portafilter, it kept grinding filling the coffee shute above the tamper, and not shutting off.
We contacted Harvey/Norman and Breville arranged to pick up the machine. They replaced the Tamper Gearbox & Assembly + new Tamper Fan. All Steam Boiler pipes & probe seals. Took 3 weeks to get back, All working perfectly, Thanks Breville.

We have the One Touch 990. The Allen screw for the shower screen has broken in two, half of it stuck in the upper assembly (group head?). I see replacement screws available but removing the broken one looks difficult. The break is flush with the screw hole so there’s nothing that one can grab with pliers. The screw itself is only 3 or 4 mm in diameter so trying to reverse it out with a screw extractor will probably damage the threads of the hole, making it impossible to use a replacement screw (maybe it could be retapped, maybe not). And I don’t see the group head available as a replacement part. Any ideas?

Hi, i have my machine set to 93 degrees but it now it wont stop heating, it continues to heat to over 99 degrees and then either trips out and turns off or brings up a fault. Any ideas on what the problem is?
John Damasked
We've had the machine for approx 18 months and just recently it has started having problems getting to the operating temperature (I have it set at 94c). It gets to 88, the 89 and sometimes 90, fluctuates between the those and eventually after about 10 mins settles on 94 but the "heating" messages keeps flashing. Despite all that, once the 94 is reached all things work as their supposed to.
I have also never rescaled the machine. Never had any messages to do so. It's been cleaned as per prompts and filters replaced but no de scale. Could a descale help?
Cheers John

Hi John, i have set the temp @93 and never had such problems. There is nothing wrong to try descale as per instructions however not sure that will help. Have you tried to reduce the temp and saw any difference in time to initialise. Also worth calling breville support if there are any hardware issues.
Thanks Vish, I must admit it only started to have those issues since I moved to 94. I’ll take it back to 93 and let you know. Cheers
Hi Vish, it's been a couple of hours since I turned the machine off, so fired it up and changed the temp back to 93. It worked a treat so thanks for your help.
I'd been watching a coffee show and they said that 94c was the optimum temperature to extract the best from coffee hence my change. I really can't taste any difference in that one degree so looks like I'm all good again.
Cheers John
