starsexpensive, takes up a lot of space for capacity
Instruction manual says it requires 8" clearance on sides and 12" on top - that's crazy. That means you need a space almost 4x the volume of the microwave itself to fit it. (Microwave itself is 12.5" height and 20.5" wide). That's a lot of counter space to allocate to this, and a lot more than comparable microwaves (which seem to be 3-4" on sides, top, and back). Only nice thing is that it does not say it requires space on the back.
Dial is finicky; it's easy to overshoot the time you want by a lot - the increments of time accelerate as you sp...Read more

Really Love the Breville Microwave
1. Very Stylish - the shiny stainless steel outer case looks great on the counter
2. Large LCD - really like having this much larger display as compared to your typical display
3. The Door Handle - never realized how much I dislike those standard push button to open a microwave door - having a handle is much more efficient and looks nicer as well.
4. The dials and the overall interface - this is what really makes this a unique item - I'm so tired of the standard keypad you see on a microwave - having dials to adjust the time and power level ...Read more

Worst Microwave
At the start, I loved the design and it was easy to use! how ever this microwave didn't even last a year! It completely died and could be replaced as it's a discounted item. Brought a Samsung now and it has been perfect so far have not had any issues.

Awesome microwave
I love this microwave I can cook everything from a grilled cheese toasted sandwich to Caramel in it
The settings are eay to use and user friendly and the quick touch buttons make sure it easy for the kids to use too
It's not as loud as some microwaves out there but it is quite quite in the respect you can hold a conversation or watch a show without having to alter the the volume
It's a large microwave but fits nicely into a corner or on a bench and is doesn't slip or slid when you pull the handle which is good for when teens are using it

Don’t buy it will break
This was an excellent microwave. Looks sleek and shiny with plenty of great features, and easy to use. The intuitive controls and built in programming was impressive. Sadly it stopped working after 1.5 years and they didn’t allow a replacement so we were given a Samsung that was a fraction of the price - without all great features but has lasted a lot longer!

Easy to use. Requires shift in mindset.
We have owned this microwave for more than 3 years. I bought this model after much research on the most usable innovative microwave.
In practical use, it has been good. The “bit more” function is handy. We find we use the soften butter function the most.
One gripe is that it is left hinge only. When we moved House we required a left hinge which makes Day to Day use more difficult. Not really Breville’s fault.

Smart and convenient
Smart and convenient, very easy to use. Breville is a solid brand which I like very much. Most of its products are solidly build and user friendly. I especially like its smart oven, it's easy to us, good on baking and making stuff, especially it can make crispy pizza perfectly

Stopped heating all of a sudden!
I bought my microwave from The Good Guys at the end of 2014. It had worked perfectly until 6 months ago when the light bulb broke and because it was out of warranty i took it to the service center to get a new one - which cost $50!. Two weeks after that, the microwave stopped heating the food! Everything else works but it does not heat. It is so annoying as to get it checked I need to pay $49 + any spare parts, etc. The microwave cost around $250 so it I need to spend at least $100 to get it checked it is not worth it for me. Died just out of warranty.
Seems all of the quick touch breville microwaves have the same awful reviews. My one lasted a year and 4 months, appalling for a product that was in a higher price bracket. Main board failed in it, breville would not cover it under warranty. Will never buy another breville product.

Avoid Breville products
We bought this because it matched the kettle we had. Big mistake. It's been used 2-3 times a week for 18 months and has just stopped heating anything. Previous Panasonic was still working after 10 years. Should have kept it. By the way, our matching Breville toaster has been returned once and replaced with an equally unreliable piece of ****
Last time we ever buy on appearance over substance. Life lesson learned.

Time Dial Is Extremely Hard To Set Accurately- FANTASTIC Customer Service
I use this mainly to heat frozen dinners, so it was probably a mistake to buy this brand. I find it almost impossible to set the time dial accurately. I have to keep moving the dial back and forth, until it finally lands on the amount of time that I want. I much prefer a touch-keypad, which is simple to set. This is extremely annoying. I'm sorry I bought it.
However it stopped heating the day after the warranty was up. Breville honored the warranty and I had a new microwave within two weeks. I am very impressed with their customer service!

The dial on the replacement microwave seems much easier to set. It seems to have a little more "grip" or something.

Great product but apparently not built to last
2 months out of manufacturer's warranty the microwave ceased to cook/reheat/defrost food i.e. no internal heat. One day ago I would have said this is the best microwave we have ever owned. Love the smart food settings and balanced heating. Noise was not excessive and the size ideal for us. Very disappointed.

Looks good but doesn't work
We bought our Breville from Bed Bath and at it worked for less than a week. The light would come on and the turn table would spin but it won't heat. We exchanged it for another one and right out of the box when we plug it in, the light comes on and the turn table spins. IT WON'T TURN OFF no matter which button I press. Only way to stop the microwave from doing anything is to unplug it. I am fairly disappointed on the 2 trips I have to make and is making me doubt the quality of Breville's products. I have exchanged it for a different brand and is hesitant to buy ANY Breville products.

Letters on knobs coming off after a week!!
I researched this product carefully and own several other Breville products, so I was highly disappointed when, after only a week, the black letters started to wear off the knobs. This is truly unacceptable, especially for a product that was as expensive as this one it. I purchased mine at Bed Bath and Beyond and had to order it online. I am not looking forward to the difficult return process and have been stalling before I call either Breville or BB&B. Very annoying. And once again I'll be without a microwave.

Failed 2 months out of warranty
Purchased Dec 2013 from Bing Lee, failed a week ago. The thing has been noisy and hot from day one, especially on lower power settings it is so loud when it cuts in and out. Finally last week the fan failed two months out of warranty so have had it repaired but don't know how long it's going to last. Very disappointed and I think this will be Breville's third strike with me. At least the smart grinder and BES900 coffee machine failed while they were still under warranty. Great features but build quality seems to be poor in my experience.

High expectations but I'm dissapointed
I bought the Cranberry model of the BMO 734 to go along with my Cranberry Breville Grinder and Coffee Machine. Unfortunately the glass table doesnt spin. I tried increasing the weight on the plate to improve tracking of the glass table on the spinner but that doesnt work either. Very disappointing. Sometimes brand loyalty bites one in the backside...

A great microwave
We've had this microwave for around 6 months now and it's fantastic. Never broken down on us and we use it at least 3-4 times a day. Heats food evenly and I love the smart functions.
EDIT April 2016: Microwave is still working as good as the day we bought it.

Returned within a week.
I bought a BMO734 last Monday and returned it yesterday. It worked once or twice when I used it for a couple of minutes. On two occasions, however, when it was cooking for 8 minutes, it just cut out after about 6 or 7. When I say "cut out" I mean everything stopped and screen went blank. Power cycling did nothing. The upper-rear corner of the right side was extremely hot. After about 10 minutes turned off at the outlet, it would work again.
Breville, I see you have responded to a few reviews. If you want to look at this particular oven, it was returned to David Jones in Bondi Junction yesterday afternoon.
I really hope you don't have a QC issue - I have shares ...

Looks great, works great, but why so many annoying beeps?
This is a great looking microwave, and works as well as any microwave in its class, but one thing that really annoys me - WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BEEP FOR EVERYTHING??! Perhaps the most annoying beep of all is when the microwave goes into standby, 5 minutes after you've used it. This is COMPLETELY unnecessary! Why does the user need to know about the microwave going into standby? Why Breville? Why? You've spoiled a perfectly good microwave. The beep on the lowest volume is still quite loud. Very annoying when the kitchen is close to the rest of the living area like my home. I only need to hear a beep when my food is ready!!!

To be completely honest this never happened to me, I would strongly suggest to keep in touch with Breville customer service and they will advise to replace or repair the part. (If I were you, I would have a look on eBay first to get an idea of the price for a new one) Hope this helps.
