Mine is being weird. Sometimes the clock doesn't go off for hours. Other times, the clock dims after 5 minutes. Once the unit even turned on by itself and started cooking with nothing in the oven. Any ideas? Does it need to be reset or something?

I like having express buttons, where I could hit numbers 1-3 for example to immediately cook at 1-3 minutes. I see that there is the 30 second button. Can I turn the start dial to 1 for one minute cooking or do I need to select a power or anything else first? Thank you!
1 answer
Yes, it's meant to be intelligent and it's pretty good- if you press it twice, it just goes for 1min. press it three times, goes for 1:30. If you turn it slowly it goes by 5 or even 1 second intervals. Turn it fast and it's meant to go up/down by minutes, for example. But it's a bit fiddly and sometimes even when you're turning it slowly, it'll suddenly leap eg from 0:45 to 7:30.

Hi my BM0735 microwave works but the plate doesn’t turn and or heat the food, what could be the problem? Am I using this right???
1 answer
Hi Richard,
If you don't mind feel intimated opening a microwave, then it will most likely be one of the switches that need replacing.
Here's a YouTube link (not Breville but just for your reference of what's involved) for you to get a better idea of what's going on with your microwave

Hope it's still under warranty, good luck!

Hi I have a BREVILLE - BMO735BSS - THE QUICK TOUCH. How do I go about replacing the internal light?
2 answers
Hi Deb, I had a look at mine and unfortunately, I couldn’t find any opening where you can remove the light bulb. You might have to take it to a tech guy to have a look at it.
It looks as if you’ll have to remove the outside cover of the microwave to get in the light bulb area.
Thanks Red Patrick.

The glass plate has broken, is it possible to get a replacement and how much it will be? Deb
1 answer
To be completely honest this never happened to me, I would strongly suggest to keep in touch with Breville customer service and they will advise to replace or repair the part. (If I were you, I would have a look on eBay first to get an idea of the price for a new one) Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Ana

Purchased BM0735 BSS today 1/04 from David Jones- buttons don't illuminate when it is not on stand by mode. According to the manual buttons should illuminate. Unable to see the time in the dark. Please advice. Thanks. Adrian

I have owned one for close to 3 years, I did not know that the buttons were supposed to illuminate. The printed letters on my start button has been rubbed off a bit from regular use and there's nothing except metal underneath. Also, the screen doesn't light up unless you open the door which then jumps to the timer. It's annoying to be honest, but just turn the light on when you are using it maybe?
The lights that surround the three 'smart' buttons only illuminate when you select them, to let you know they are being used. When the microwave is not being used, after five minutes it goes into powersave mode and all the lights will go off. As soon as you start to use it again (eg open/close the door, turn the knob, etc) the display backlight will go on. If you want the display backlight to stay on so you can see the clock at night, then you need to enable the child lock (https://www.manualslib.com/manual/862810/Breville-Quick-Touch-Bmo735.html?page=17).

Does it crisp the food?
1 answer
It does not have a crisp mode (this function usually means the oven also has some sort of electric element making it a kind of hybrid microwave/normal oven). You can however get special trays that are designed to crisp food like bacon in any microwave oven. Personally I have never used one so I do not know how effective they may be.

Hii. I am a big fan of Breville. I just purchased a Quick Touch BMO735 Microwave and have set it up per the user guide. I have however noticed that the Start button is not fitted as to display horizontal, but slanted to one side. Although a only minor cosmetic issue, it is disappointing. Can this be adjusted? I don’t think the warranty would cover this? Thank you. Peter

HELLLLP!!! I’d like to know how I can set the microwave to automatically go from one power level to another and for me to set the time I’d like each level to cook for??? On my old microwave, to cook rice, I would do 7 minutes on high and 10 mins medium high and I was able to very simply press high, put in 7 mins then press med high and add in 10 mins and press start. The microwave would cook exactly as programmed.
Can’t work out how to do that on the Breville Quick Touch and the rice setting always turns my rice to mush, no matter if I follow their directions to the letter or fiddle with it.

The simple answer is to use the "smart cook rice" setting. This cooks the rice initially at 100% power then reduces the power to 50%. Ratio is 2:3 rice:water eg 200gm rice and 300ml water. Put in a bowl with a vented lid, select 'smart cook rice' and dial in the amount of rice to be cooked. When it's finished, leave the lid/cover on for five mins before serving/eating.
Now the first few times you use it, it might not be perfect. Once you've tweaked it to the amount and type of rice you normally buy (eg not all rice is the same, so you may need a little more or less water, or might need an extra 30 seconds cooking) then you should be good to go. If you find it's being overcooked, add a little more rice initially.
ninkasi, that's what I've been using and doing. Would really love to do it manually and control it myself though. The smart cook is a handy setting but sometimes I'd just like to tweak the settings manually. Seems it's not an optionn on this machine which is a shame, I did ask when purchasing annd the guy said I could do it, but apparently he may have been mistaken. I probably would have gone for something else if I'd know. Thannks for your reply annyway.
Yeah - can't manually program power setting changes. I understand the desire to tweak things, then again in doing so with rice or cakes I usually muck things up. ;-)
FWIW I actually use a dedicated rice cooker - as much as the microwave is great, the rice cooker is so much better. Recently I got a Philips 'Grain Master' (one of those things with 'fuzzy logic' so it adapts the cooking based on the rice itself so allows for different humidity etc). Simply brilliant.

Is there an option to keep the screen light on when the microwave is not in use so you can see the time in the dark????

This my beef with this microwave oven as well. I hate not having the clock available all the time.
Personally I can live without one more glowing clock in the kitchen - I dread daylight savings as the oven has one, the hot water control has one, the room heater has one, our old dishwasher used to have one, there's a portable 'phone there that has one, I wear a watch, my mobile has a clock on it, it's pretty much hard to look somewhere and *not* see a clock and if I want I can always close my eyes and say 'hey google - what's the time?' and my google home will tell me...... ;-)
The clock is also of course pretty small as it's more intended to be used to help you with scheduling a time to start a program etc, when you're standing right in front of the microwave. If you really wanted a clock you can glance at to tell what time it is, I'd probably put a larger digital clock on the wall somewhere. Something with nixie tubes would be neat.
Anyhow, the light goes out automatically when it goes into standby mode - which it does after it's been idle for a while. If you want the light to stay on, you can try using the child lock mode. Basically, when the clock is being displayed press and hold the 'a bit more' button until it beeps and the lock symbol appears. The light will likely stay on until you unlock it by, again, pressing and holding the 'a bit more' button until it beeps and the lock symbol goes away. I tried it before and it seemed to stay on for a while.....

As far as I know, you can't. Because by pressing any buttons or opening the door the timer will appear...
