I have the Breville BRC 460 white model. The only disappointment is that you cannot read the water levels inside the rice bowl as it is the same black colour as the bowl. The previous model had the levels in white which was so easy to read. How can the levels be highlighted?

I just use the same amount of water and rice so I never bother looking at the markings
EI use a measuring cup for accuracy.
HIya WingeForChange.
How do you determine the same amount of water and rice? Dry rice 1 cup = water 1 cup???
I rinse the rice in the rice cooker's bowl, till water runs clear, and then fill up to level indicated. Ie. rice is already wet, to some degree, before I add more water.
You maybe use a different bowl for rinsing?

It means the thermostat or temperature sensor inside the lid is not working. I opened the cover of the lid and found one wire is broken, and I reconnect the wire and the cooker works beautifully again. www.tiptopfloors.com.au.
After reading your review we just did exactly your advice and it works perfectly again. Thank so much:)) !!!
Thank you for sharing the fix. Three of our wires were broken! All fixed now.

Hi.
Firstly I love my Breville rice cooker so it gets used often.
I have a problem with the water level markings which have all but faded below cup level 6.
Any suggestions on how I can mark the cup levels again before they completely disappear?

My new model BRC 460 is even worse as all the levels are in black and is impossible to read. I have yet to get a logical response as to why the company did not stick to white markings.
I found a workaround, light-colored Nailpolish.
Just a 'small' dot to indicate level and four dots is all I need to get me by, for now.
Not great, I know but the rice cooker works fine so I don't want to just throw it away because of 'level fade'.
And, as you say, a newer model does not supply a solution anyway :(

Hi guys. Is the BRC460 supposed to come with a "glass lid" for the bowl? The website says "tempered glass lid" but I have no glass lid in the box. I bought from Myer just 2 days ago. Should I take it back and ask for the glass lid? Thanks
1 answer
This product doesn't have a tempered glass lid. Not sure why the website says it but it's a solid lid. Even the picture shows a solid lid.

Hi,
My rice cooker is leaving some black discharge from its base, it spills a lot of water and deposits under the cooker. I got the cooker not long ago plus, all the rice gets stuck to its base like there is no way I can cook 1 cup rice because it gets all stuck, it has to be at least 1.5 so there is something left for me to eat.
Please help.

Ooo that's no good. I believe the instructions advise minimum of 2 cups of rice and the water level should be level with the number 2 indicator in the bowl. Make sure the vent at the top is open too. If you are still having issues then I would contact either the manufacturer or where you bought it from. All the best.

When I try to clean the rice box the part of the rubber seal at the top when off, how can I put it back on?
5 answers
Hi Judy ... sorry for late reply ... we’ve never taken seal out (to be honest) ... will have a look at it over next few days & get back to you
I push it back on as it has not got much out.
I just checked mine out - it appears that it shouldn’t come out ... the steal plate on top of it doesn’t come off & my seal is firmly in place
Maybe it’s a fault ... can u take it back?

What is the smallest amount of rice that this rice cooker can cook comfortably?

Ive gone down as little as one cup, turned out fine. The trick with rice is not so much how much rice, but how much water tp keep the rice covered in the size of the container you cook it in. One cup rice with one and a quarter cups of water or stock is a perfect ratio I find. Anything less than a cup questions the need for the device at all, perhaps use a stove top instead.
I use it to make a weeks worth of rice for anything from curries to a simple tuna and veg mix. Bulk makes sense with the capacity it has.
There’s only 2 of us, but we usually do around 3 scoops from cup provided ... not sure if we have done 2 scoops or not ... but hubby uses leftover rice with leftover dinner for lunches .... why not cook extra food & freeze for an other night
Anyway ... the way I look at it, leftover rice can be used up very easily (fried rice maybe) or you can give it to your dog (if you have one)
Hope this helps
